Cutting thin sheet glass is almost as easy as it looks in this video clip...but not quite! Curves really are much trickier than straight lines. The process shown would have been completely familiar to medieval window glaziers.

no you need a carbide tip because it is extremely hard and makes a deep clean cut. they also makie glass cutters with carbide wheels that roll over the glass to cut it and the you pinch it and it breaks

I bought myself about 500 piece tool set for the dremel, im very into starting stained glass designing now, can i use my dremel for this project as well as other glass designing?

@corningmuseumofglass i have a hard time cutting 5mm sheet of glass is there an easier way out there? there seem to be no lines forming on the glass

Thanks for your question. The scratching or scoring tools is called a "glass cutter", here specifically a Toyo (mfr.) brand pistolgrip cutter is used. The pliers are specific to glass as well, and are called "running" pliers. They have curved ends they flex the glass into tension to cause the crack to propegate, or "run". Ordinary pliers wont work. For smaller pieces of glass, especially on 1/8 or 3mm thick glass, you can flex the glass with your fingers and cause the score to run very easily.

. you CAN NOT use a knife,You need a glass cutter. We sell them for 20 bucks. There is more then one size glass..You have 1/16th glass which in the business we call window glass. Then you for 1/8,1/4 and 1/2. Goes thicker but you wont need it. Most common are those four. 1/4 glass is used for store fronts on and so forth then you have your Lami (laminated) if any of you guys have any questions contact me!
