Cutting edge or cutting lip positioning for turning and facing on a metal lathe is a complex subject since so many variables come into play. This video introduces the basic notions that should guide the home or novice machinist when using hand sharpened tools that quite naturally don't come with any specks describing their proper installation. I literally can not thank you enough for these instructionals. Understanding the theory behind what one sees in their results and how to correct problems because you now understand what is happening is priceless information for us newbies.
