Cutting Out Drawer Material and an Update on Nannie

Sorry for no videos last week. Janet had her hip surgery and I have been busy and not able to get at the editing.
But I did manage to get some editing completed. Here is a video about cutting out the materials I need to assembly the drawer boxes for the work bench.
Have a look and see especially the story about the drawer bottoms. There is a lot of history in that part!!

A hip takes a little while to recover but she will be so much better when she’s all healed up. You are fixing up the shop top notch and going to be awesome. Cheers Mike👍

Hello there Lloyd!! Thanks for your encouragement. Janet's hip, I think, is doing good. Her other health issues are holding her back. But we're gaining on them slowly! The shop will be a nice spot if I ever get t finished!! LOL Take 'er easy!!

Glad to hear Nannie is progressing, even if it's slow progression. Better than the alternative. You cut those waaaaaay more square than I ever could have.

How's she goin'? Thanks Bruce. Nannie isn't making the gains we thought she would, but never the less, she is making gains and like you said, that's better than the alternative! I always try and make things as square as I can. I am careful and measure well to make the cuts. And it boggles my mind why sometimes things turn out square and sometimes they don't!! Weird eh!! Hey, Mike. Sure good to see you again in the shop build and a great big thanks for the update on Nannie J. I must show you my board streacher, LOL. You sure got the best out of that one board. Once I finally figured out my dove tail jig I have never looked back. Strong and the corners look really neat. It was great talking to you the other day. It eased the weight on my worysome shoulders. How's she goin'? Thanks Dean!! Your care and concern for Janet is very comforting to both of us. You talk about a dove tail jig, I was once going to try and make a box joint jig. I kind of made a very simple one but it was hard to get the cuts to repeat correctly for each side on the joint. One of these days I'll have at it again! Thanks for being there Dean. Box joints are often hard to set up from side to side but I would have to be there to show you. Trial and error is hard to get just right. All the best to you and your girl bud.

Interesting story about the Masonite I like hearing about things like that. I'm still praying for you and Nannie I have been through a couple of broken hips in my life and I know recovering from these things is not easy. Tell her I said hang in there and keep fighting.

Glad to hear nannie is working towards recovery, it takes time. Drawers are coming along. Most try and cut the material right the first time but I find the failure rate is higher. I always cut larger then fine tune. Good call Mike. Stevo

Them drawers will bring back a lot of memories every time you use them. Not sure air cadets are still a thing ? Hopefully a quick recovery for nanny as the good weather is just starting .

How's she goin'? I was thinking the same thing about the drawer bottoms Steve. Every time I open one I'll remember Dad and Cadets! The 374 Squadron is still active around here, but they only have about 25 cadets now. Back when we won 'Best in Canada' there were something like 125 cadets!! I hope by the end of the summer Nannie will be able to get around on her own. It's remarkable really what they did with this operation. So we're praying it's a success!! Take 'er easy!!
