You know, 10 years later and you are still helping out this broke college student and his aquarium build. Thank you for making this.

GREAT VIDEO... I rarely have trouble with the thin glass. That 1/4" glass or 1/4" mirrors is where the trade secrets are really needed. THANK YOU !!!

Hi Mike! I noticed you were using "flare jaw" plate pliers when running these narrow cuts. I prefer to use "drop jaw" plate pliers when running narrow cuts on 1-4" plate glass. I just lay the top jaw flat down on the glass with the edge on the scribe and squeeze the run down. This helps put pressure under the cut making a cleaner edge. Again, my compliments on showing people the proper techniques in glass working.

Thank you so much! This saved me from buying another sheet of glass when I messed up on my frame I built. I was about 3/16th too big on the glass. I watched your video, cut 1/4 inch strip off, it then fit perfectly in the frame. Thank you!! :D

A life saver, the original pane was cut too large, and it worked like a treat. Thank for for sharing

Just wanted to say thanks Mike, I had a thin (roughly 1/16) piece of mirror I was trying to cut into a long 20"x1.5" strip and it just kept breaking and breaking. The score/tap method you used worked PERFECTLY.Thank You!

Your videos saved the day for me! I had an old, jagged, ripply piece of glass my husband wanted to pitch. But I also had some prints with odd frame sizes, needing glass. Using your instructions I perfectly cut what I needed, plus one spare. Thanks for your great tutorials!

Hi, nice video. I have a question. On 3:07 where do you exactly hit the glass? under the score line, on the strip side or on the big piece? Sorry if you have said it on the video, but my english is not that good. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Mike for your videos, i wanted to cut some glass for some containers for some small tools ie be able to see through, for electronics hobby, these movies have been extra helpful, by the way i'm in Australia glass here is about $80.00 a meter square, thats about 36inches square in USA, but can be picked up a lot cheaper at charity shops, thanks Mike and Staff cheers from Australia

Thanks a lot for showing that. I’m going to use that method to trim some glass panels that are in an old door so I can reuse them in a new door rather than buying new glass. 👍

Before i came here I must have just made about 20 cuts like this trying different ways to get as close a 90 degree break as i could...for some reason it ALWAYS wants to jut out considerably on the uncut side, i can get nice breaks when wider than 2 cm strips, but the shorter width strip i try, the worse it seems to get .

Would I use this method to slice off 1/16”?

I don't understand why you say "That's (kinda) what I was after." when that was literally exactly what you were after.
@myglasstrades

Kinda, because it did not run out as I expected on the first attempt. You need a new hobby other than complaining about the terms that people use in their speech. If you learned something great! If you didn't then move along!
