This is video number one of this pine tree print series. I am cutting traditional artist's lino using a mix of tools - a Pfeil no.12, a Powergrip and some of my own inherited tools from the 1930s. A tool similar to the wide Japanaese flat tool I use is avaialable in the UK at the time of writing this from Handprinted (handprinted.co.uk/collections.... If you are enjoying & learning from my films and would like to chip in and help us keep these videos free at source, we have a fundraising page at GoFundMe gf.me/u/zd8bcq

Great tutorial, Laura. I also have been using an acetate mask for large areas. It really helps keep the print clean where there is little block support.

Awesome video Laura. So looking forward to the next one. I’ve never actually done an offset print before (-: Marion

I'm a big fan of my big flat shallow gouge after you previously recommended them. Trouble is now I want one of those nice chunky U gouges that you were using to do the initial clearing. It never ends! Looking forward to seeing how this print develops, and trying to use this video as a reminder that I need to pay more attention to little cutting details as my current project has a few stray bits of ink from inadequate clearing out of various layers and it's a real shame when I notice them.

@@LauraBoswellPrintmaker Yes and I had a go at drypoint etching on enviromount at an open studio and now I keep thinking about trying that some more too! As if linocut wasn't enough to learn, but it's so moody and atmospheric...

Hi Laura, great tutorial. How did you transfer the initial image onto the lino before you began the cutting process?
