I started with the Amana Tool #46202-K 1/4" Spektra™ downcut bit all from our website, linked below.

I then switched out for the 46233-K 1/16" Spektra™ coated downcut bit to make the holes for the screws to go though.

Yo, why the two tool changes? It shouldn't be a problem to do all the cutting with the downcut and only after that cut the screw-holes. Unless there's a risk of movement?

Nah they're not that expensive, and woodworking cncs are much easier to run than a metalworking one so it's a great entry point

Minor difference in the fluting that forces the chips down into the part rather than evacuating them. This can be dangerous when using them in metal or deep wood pockets but they leave a clean surface finish on a single pass. Not something most professionals learn because they are usually working with metals but they are great for hobbyists like this.

Lathes are a lot of fun! It's hard to say as it's going to be different for everyone. I would just pick a project that is something you need or want, my first project was a coffee table. I bought a couple of tools to make it and just went on from there acquiring more tools for the projects I wanted to do.
