Love it Sandrine, you are so good at stippling, and thanks for the review/demo. I have looked into these before but now it’s clear it vibrates in the hand it wouldn’t be any good for me since I get hand pain - I think it would exacerbate it.
Thank you very much Kyomii. Somehow it feels like the pen does the stippling for me and I just color the shadow areas. It's so much fun! You're probably right about your pain. I don't think the pen would be right for you. I had a few surgeries on my hand a few months ago, and there's no way I could have used that pen, even as I was recovering.
Thank you for showing us something that I personally have never heard of! When you were doing the stamens in the flower did you turn it off and use as a normal pen? Or did I imagine that? Beautiful result 😊
Wow. You did a beautiful job with this! Love your approach and style!!! ♥️ It’s so fun how each watercolor artist has their own unique approach - I paint every day myself yet when I get on RU-vid all I wanna do is watch other people paint too! 😍
Thank you so much! I agree with you. I spend so much time admiring other people's skills and their different approach to art. I think it's very interesting. Have fun painting!
Great demo, showing another angle while using the stippler gives a better idea of it not touching the art work as if were a dip pen/fountain pen or any other drawing utensil. Do you keep the emptied ink cartridges? I'd be interested to see if different coloured fountain pen inks would perform like the ink that comes with the stippler. Of course the cartridges would be refilled by using a syringe. Really enjoyed this.👍👍👍 Very informative.
Thank you very much for your kind words. As far as refilling the cartridges is concerned, it's a great idea, I do this sometimes with my fountain pens. However, I'm not sure it would work well with these. They contain gel ink, so the ink stays in place in the cartridge. The end is wide open, so I would be afraid that regular liquid ink would just spill out of it and with the pen going up and down, the ink would do the same and be constantly shaken. Not sure I would risk getting that big of a mess. But it would sure be fun to use different inks with this pen.
@@Sandrinesgallery If viscosity is of concern, I wonder if an airbrush paint would work.or something like Golden Fluid Acrylic paints. Of course finding the right viscosity would be one hurdle.....the other would be cleaning whatever is involved to keep the tip from clogging [probably be a little more involved than an airbrush]. I bet an Impressionist would go nuts with a tool like this (sort of like when photography came into being, one found out the advantages to using a photo as a reference ).
I'm slow to comment, but I really loved this video! I have been so curious about this pen, and it was wonderful to see it working up close and in real time. I think it is such a great tool and you are already a master with it! Beautiful botanical drawing!
I'm slow to reply, hehe! Thank you so much, Chris. I think this tool does the job itself, lol. I just have to move it around where I want the dots. I have so much fun with it. I hope you're doing well.
Hi Sandrine my wife just got me the dots pen for my birthday so looked on you tube to see if there was anything like demo's/ tutorials etc and your channel popped up, I have subscribed as I think your channel could be useful to me in the future. Whilst I can't do much at the moment as I'm now on a three month recovery from stomach surgery I will be going through your videos to keep me entertained and hopefully learn a few things. Until next time take care and stay safe.
Hi Clive, sorry to hear about your surgery. I hope it went well and that you will recover fast. If you have any questions about the dotspen, don't hesitate. I'll do my best to help. I hope you like it as much as I do.
I wouldn’t say it’s ‘dumb,’ It’s simply a faster method for those who create stipple art rather than having to lay down dot by dot with a normal pen. Saves many hours.
