Check your pic rail. The rail on the CVA is not tight from the factory. Mine was very loose. I degreased it and torqued it to 30 in/lbs with blue lock tight. It might help your grouping issue.
Enjoyed the video. I have one in 44 magnum that I use in Mississippi for primitive weapon season and also sometimes for rifle season hunting. Have had it for a couple of years and my wife and I have taken several deer with it. The 44 doesn’t have unpleasant recoil and she has never complained about that. My trigger is light but manageable. With Bear creek ballistics ammo it will reach out pretty well and puts them down quickly. Do like this rifle and also bought the pistol version in 300 blackout. Got my first pistol deer last season with it. I’m an old retired guy who is still enjoying the woods.
Great review Sarge and a very nice looking rifle to but your right about the trigger, that is very light but the gun is pretty accurate. Good camera work to,thanks Slim.
Got the exact same set up for our new alternative firearms season. My gun don’t like those hornady 250 grain bullets either. But in my I use the hornady 325gr and they are shooting sub moa groups. My gun absolutely loves the 325. Give them a shot in your rifle if your guns like mine you will love it!
Sounds like you may be going another direction but the boyds stocks for these are beautiful. Im having a hard time finding this rifle right now but ill be getting one when i find it i really want a 45-70 because how quiet they are with a can . That said the next budget option with a threaded barrel is a rossi at 800 and then the you put another 150 your at the Henry X i just cant justify 1000$ to get meat in the freezer . Thanks for the review Sarge always nice to have a heads up going in and i think im going with a reflex sight I agree i dont see a need for an optic on a 200yrd gun .
Can anyone confirm if the scout 45-70 can be reloaded for using Ruger #1 data? BPI makers of the rifle have not answered this question yet after 3 emails. They said it is built using SAAMI specs, but most reloading manuals have 3 load levels.
Yep, I am very sad that Arkansas has done away with the tradition of muzzleloader season. Now I believe it is called Alternative Firearm Season. I wish they would make a week before this Alternative season for a Primitive Firearm Season for caplock and flintlock muzzleloaders only. With no inline muzzlerloaders and not optics. Iron sights only. BTW I am in northwest Arkansas in Ozark.
Dude this gun pretty awesome! All you did was bitch about it! Try the hornady lever revolution 325 grainers I just bought one myself and it shot sub moa with that ammo. I bought this gun to enjoy for a bit and then I’m gonna get a smokeless conversion done on it.
