In an IEM market that is so highly competitive, especially under the 200usd bracket, the only way a company can at least guarantee a fighting chance to any of its products is by making sure it thicks as many boxes as possible.
The CVJ Mei, the companies latest flagship 1+2, is not only the first product to come out of CVJs that has been properly developed, but is one that can cause some damage by placing itself among a go to choice without any hesitation.
It's call to glory is a different take on the tuning switches it has.
Contrary to just adjusting bass levels, or then altering the pinna gain and extension in the upper registers, the Mei provides the ability to control which of the BAs works, and in the process allowing for very markedly different sounds.
The Mei is an absolute pleasure to listen too, with its alive presentation , but always very refined.
Good solid bass , mids that are on point in terms of energy, tonality, timbre and execution, while the treble is keeping up with the rest of the frequency response, with only the slightest of grain in few occasions.
It's a solid IEM and one I highly recommend.

Congrats on 3000!! A nice giveavay would be the Erasmus😄. Nice review as usual. Feel I learn a lot from your reviewes! I like the comparisons and talk around the hobby. I have one «request» and that is that you show the original cables. Nice to see them on video, not only on pictures online, even if I dont necesserly use them.

I don't know how many ppl are reading this comment. The truth was for me, I greatly treasure Eramus, it is very well and mature tunning. It is so well tunned, I keep it as sacred iem... Based on Akros Juzear 41T, it is also a good iem and currently enjoy it very much although they are not same level of treasured as Eramus. My CVJ is on the way and I am also looking forward to it . Congrats hitting 3k, now for 10k. I think I'll grab the Mei as well as the new Blon from HBB. Great review on the sound signature & differences on other IEMs around it's price point. I really like the black version but don't know if the coating it will chip off, anyway onwards & upwards.

I bought CCA HM20 but it had a build defect on the left ear where the connector protruded out more on the left IEM. I ordered a second pair, received it discovered the second also was affected by this defect. This resulted in the AZ09 pro AZ10 both having a different fit on the left iem compared to the right. I made the sad decision to return based on the build quality. The audio quality was great, albeit i found them as challenging to drive as the PR1 Pros. As such I will keep the PR1 Pros as my "need amplification" set I keep at home, and I returned both sets of HM20. I loved it's small form factor, light weight, and clear Soundstage, and overall physical design. I wanted to love it and I hope KZ/CCA is able to improve their build quality control. Just because you are the price butcher doesn't mean you should be making critical mistakes such as the HM20 issues I experienced. For what it's worth the HM20 via cable had enough extra tolerance that the cable was able to take in the connector so it lay flush unlike the BT modules

So mine just came from HiFiGo. Is the 1,1 position with both switches down or with both switches up??? The instructions on the back are very confusing.

Thank you for your detailed review with this! A while back I saw your review on the JD7, I am a bass-head and felt that I would like more of the sub-bass and body of that compared to the EA500 but still enjoy the mids highs and technicalities of that set. How does the Jd7 stack up to this set? Also since you have heard both the EA500 and the JD7 which set would you prefer with a bass-head hat on? Thank you for your hard work, your commitment to the hobby and this channel really helps anyone in the hobby or getting into it enjoy it to the fullest.

I’m not a pro but I’ve had both for about 2 months and I can say that the jd7 is better for warmth without eq so I use it with the fiio Q11 and sounds wonderful. The ea500 sounds detail and airy but little cold so I pair it up with the fiio btr5 and it does the trick with little eq. So you can probably enjoy the jd7 from any playing source without compromising the sound quality

@@germanramirez6153 Thank you. Even with the warmth, by how much would you say the JD7 is behind the EA500 in technicalities and air? I gravitate more towards warmer sets than colder sets. I am trying to see whether I should get a set that is cheaper in price but has good warmth, air and technicalities or step up to a pricier set with the same characteristics.

The jd7 i think is what you’re looking for because you’re not loosing that much air from the simgot is like the back up vocalist come through more clear on the simgot same as pianos it has that’s 5-6k peek and you get a not more separation from drums to as I said pianos and stuff like that in other words is a little more detailed but female vocals take a little peek bit over all is beet balanced and detailed bit can be a little overwhelming for along listen as for the jd7 you get a boost on the bass and mids so you get a nice slam not overwhelming but warm and natural speed and the vocalist In this case takes the front seat with the bass so at times make vocals can sound a little honky bit and loud you get guitars come through more lively and is just energetic in that 1-2k region and I find female vocals sound nice on the jd7 and the treble is like 65-70% less than the simgot so you can still hear the back up vocalists and background instruments pianos etc but you kind of have to look for them as for the simgot there just there so you can loose yourself in the jd7 smoothness. So Iet me know if that helps. The legato is big bass reduce mids ant treble just pure Bas enjoyment honestly club like environment if that’s what you’re looking for you can still catch a few details but the bass is overpowering and mids are flat not offensive at all anyone can listen to this one s

The Simgot is the winner, however truth be told the Mei beats it in timbre and tonality and is right up there with the rest of the technicalities, so it's a marginal win!

Nowadays quality becomes affordable.... BTW, I have retuned a HM20, with slightly less bass and a reduced 3K hump (so this results in more mids), when I listen to it I am always surprised...and yes, the crossover is on a little PCB.

For me the MEI is better as what it only just looses in technical abilities it makes up for being way more fun. It's a fantastic IEM the MEI!!

@@akros9333 Very thanks for your reply. I have only $100. I cannot decide which to buy MEI, HEXA, HBB Khan, HM20. Please reccommend one of them or other one will be okay. I usually game 30% music 30% movie 40%. And for your information, i like large stage.

Looks like they finally listen to your complain and take them to the development of Mei as some of their releases since their CVJ Angel Wings were dismal and less likeable.
