What are the limitations of utilizing a "common fiber"? For instance, if use an 8-channel mux/demux, is it feasible to establish eight 100G links between site A and site B using 100G transceivers at both ends? Furthermore, with a 32-channel mux/demux, can it support 32 100G links?

Uh you gotta check also with the spec and bandwidth CWDM is simpler yea but with DWDM you need to also check the channel spacings. essentially, the mux themselves can leverage EITHER one of these. ,ore Bandwidth per channel, or MORE channels but less bandwidth

@@hariranormal5584 Thanks, I just found about that channel spacing today! looks like we are using 50Ghz channels and for some other reason we are limited to 10Gbps connections.

The common fiber connection will only be limited by the number of channels and wavelengths that are available to the Multiplexer. CWDM will have a total of 18 channels defined, but two of the channels are not commonly used due to “water peak” wavelengths that have higher fiber losses. This means that 16 channels will generally be available for use. Multiplexing with 100G per channel is possible, but it is important to confirm what data-rates that the Multiplexer will support before moving forward with an installation, many do not support rates up to 100G per channel. For example, Omnitron Systems iConverter CWDM/X will only support up to 10G per channel. For a higher capacity WDM technology, DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) can be used which can support up to 80 channels. Again it is important to confirm data-rates that the DWDM equipment will support.
