Moving live traffic to DWDM + 3 GPON customers on different splitter combinations

Here we a moving a larger customer from our old network onto our new DWDM network. Getting back some gear that was used for something sorta wasteful, 1 user VPN, Zabbix proxy, and management. Also installing a couple GPON customers on different splitter scenarios 4 x 4 multi user buildings and more rural tap scenario for passing homes on an overbuilt area. Thanks for watching

Just an FYI. The Kingston's SSD's have a very high failure rate. Used 50+ of those drives scattered between my customers and i think I've replaced 3/4 them now. Great video 👍

Yeah I think even 1 of the 10 office computers failed. At least it worked for the year it was in service I guess.

Brice, you make some very easy to follow videos. I learn something on literally every video I watch. Thanks for actually showing the devices and splitters you use while taking the time to explain why. Great job and very much appreciated.

Arista is so robust and simple, one binary for all hardware. I’ve decided to move away from Aruba and go arista for the new spine leaf campus core/dist.

I've only recently found them and I like them quite a bit so simple cut and dry. No frills just exactly what you expect. Just recently setting up snmp takes less then 3 minutes. This assumed I watched a 2 minute video on it first.

man you know your stuff! I work for a phone company I'm sure you can guess what one and our fiber training is here this is how you put a crimp lock end on good luck! they don't give us a fusion Spicer. everything is pre-made. and they got us scoping every end now to see if it's dirty
@briceperdue7587

Those mechanical connectors should not be used as the first option that is crazy. It's good for repairs or like maybe a screw up but the cost of the pig tails are like $1 now and the splice is only a minute or 2 longer in work.

Down here AT&T uses the Corning cam lock for all the residential and commercial installs. So far they don’t seem to have any major issues them but I wonder when the optical gel inside them dries out what’s going to happen.

Man i really need to get some internet like this for gaming! I bet latency while gaming online is just awesome with how awesome your network is..

We average around 5.5ms ping to 1.1.1.1 using cogent. 8ms using windstream

So on the fusion splicer, is it using the two metal prongs as a spark gap to heat up the fibers? I guess I never really thought about how this thing works. So it's like $1 fusioning and $30000 lining up the pieces of hair with optics 😂
@briceperdue7587
@briceperdue7587 Год назад
I think they are made of tungsten and are part of normal maintenance they are like $60 per 3000 splices. Only changed 1 of them but not in this machine.

I'd say "$10" arc. The arc does need to be very precise. Alignment of the fibers is absolute. This used to be the art in fusion splicing. These days, an arduino and a few cheap cameras can do it for pennies. (you'll pay hundreds for it, 'tho. I've seen $900 units, but I'm not sure I'd trust them.)

Love the vids, learn so much on how the computers work. How did you learn so much? And do you have any recommendations on how to learn more? I’m a fiber splicer looking to advance my career. Thanks Brice!

RU-vid is really the best source I've been draining information from. I'd buy some old switch off ebay and then really push it to the limit. Buy the same thing you see you customers using when your splicing. You should be able to run all access on those switches if your presented with it. sh interface ethernet 19 transceiver

Hey, Brice just finally found this channel. Love what you're doing! I wonder if you have gpon in your video tags? I can't beleive I did find this before

It's funny you say this because it's a Galaxy S10e that I've had for a few years and I love it. All I did was on the camera settings change to 4k 60fps. Makes the video sizes insane.
