I just wanted to give a huge congratulations to Scotland's Eilish McColgan. You did an amazing job last night, deserved that gold, and I was on the edge of my seat screaming for you to reach the finish line first. I also had tears in my eyes when the medal went around your neck. Congratulations Scotland, love from England! 🤍💙🤍❤🤍
All teary watching this. Well done ladies, amazing exciting race to watch, drama throughout. How the bronze medalist held on was amazing. The final meters were superhuman.
@@Iainmaclennan70 Can't not love Scotland, especially when you're from Newcastle. I way prefer being in Edinburgh over London! In fact, I'm going to apply to Edinburgh Napier but no Uni's in London for when I go back to university next year
@@RobertHeslop I’m African American but I found out that I am “ the flower of Scotland “ bcoz I found out I had Scottish ancestry so I was a little chuffed when FLOWER OF SCOTLAND played on the medal stand
@@RobertHeslop It's one of the great things about "the friendly games" - you get to root for all the home nations in so many of the events. My two favourite moments of the games were from Scot Eilish in the 10k and from Englishwoman Laura Kenny in the velodrome scratch race.
So very well done Eilish. We were sitting screaming at the tv screen willing you to get round that last lap and were so emotional for you. Truly the highlight of the Games!!! You made us so proud as a nation. Had a wee greet watching you get your medal and listening to Flower Of Scotland.❤
The Irish and Welsh Anthem are also something special!..Look up Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano at Madison Sqa gdn ( it was the RING mag fight of the yr) and u had a lady sing the Irish National Anthem before the fight..it was quite something to see!!
@@jerryoshea3116as far lyrics go, the Welsh National Anthem is most beautiful🏴 gotta check out that Irish singer's rendition🇮🇪 been to these two countries and one day I would like to see Scotland 🏴😌💙
@@GeoAce777 U will see,I think her name is Cathy McGuire ( she might be American?) But that was a fantastic fight( which I thought Amanda Serrano won) but the Anthem preceding was fantastic ='A Soldiers Song'
I have been to so many athletics events, seen so many amazing performances and stood for so many national anthems, but this one really hit hard. Such a great anthem for such a great winner.
@@101mossie I know O Flower of Scotland better probably than Land of Hope and Glory. But according to my family tree, I have both Irish and Scottish ancestors, then the rest are all from around the Northeast of England where I'm from, kinda makes sense
Inspirational!!!! When I sang "when will we see your like again", in 1986, I wondered. But 36 years later we have the answer. Well done, brilliant performance.
Remember her mom winning as Liz Lynch in '86 in Edinburgh. Pretty sure she carried Eilish round the track at one championships when she was still a baby
Thanks Birmingham you are a proud race you brummies...-from a wee Scotsman.Because when she won the 10,000 meters you all were on your feet clapping her to the finishing line
That was a tremendous Medal presentation and fantastic rendition of the Scots National Anthem,in recognition of Eilish McColgan Gold medal winning performance!
She has had such a troubled career with injuries - I really hope she stays healthy now and takes this level of performance (or better) into Paris for Team GB!
well done lassie, brilliant, amazing support on that last lap, would an english lass have had that same support in Glasgow or Edinburgh, sadly i don't think so !!!
I love the English and always support their athletes in the commonwealth games (when there isn’t a Scot in the race) but that’s cause my gran is English. But yeah there’s a rivalry between us and the English so I have no problem with not supporting the English. Sport is for fun viewing and shouldn’t be taken seriously. Enjoy it as you wish…. to a reasonable degree :)
You obviously didn’t watch the games in Glasgow. English athletes were cheered by the Scottish crowd. Must admit the level of support the English crowd gave her was superb.
