Hi, Euro Ncap now have a new section of tests for assisted driving safety systems that's worth a look. I will be using it when I chose my next car. It is new but already has some surprising findings.
Interesting but didn't touch on the tech, I find with my current CX-30GT Sport tech ( 8 months old) the assisted driving tech is a bit of a let down. It rarely "sees" the lane markings unless you are driving over them and the mapping for the speed limits is woefully out of date. It still thinks the temporary 40mph speed limit on the M54 is active years later ( had to turn off excess speed alert otherwise its bing bing bing for mile after mile) What's the point of it if its turned off?. The car is supposed to auto lock as I walk away but often fails to do so. I would have to see these things addressed before I would consider one. To me with a modern car it's all about the tech, my next buy will include predictive cruise, and that's a deal maker or breaker, especially at this price bracket. I do intend to test drive so fingers crossed.
The CX-60 in Japan at least has the newer cruise control, also called Mazda Co-pilot. It's Mazda's first serious step into the Autopilot realm. Based on what I have seen so far, the CX-60 is quite refined compared to its predecessors, but I will have to test-drive it to be sure.
Yes, it’s a beauty but 50K for the only Mazda plug in hybrid! It’s madness. Extend this power train to the more affordable models like the CX5, 30 and even the Mazda 3 and I might be interested. Also, it will attract the massive company car drivers market. Get it done Mazda or this will become another white elephant like the MX30.
