Avkash Kathiriya is a Cyber Security Leader with more than a decade of experience working in various domains of the cybersecurity field. He currently works as a Sr. Vice President - Research and Innovation at CyWare Labs. He has explored and worked on various projects such as Cyber Fusion, Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI), SOC/CSIRT Management, Red team, Cyber Resiliency, Incident Response and Threat Hunting. He has been an active speaker at various conferences on cyber security strategy and trends; and an active participant in the cyber security community, including being on the advisory board for multiple security startups.
In this episode, we have started with why it is necessary to focus on Non-Pentesting fields of Cyber Security and Raise awareness about it. Took us a decade back when he started as a Support Engineer focused on Networks and Firewalls to Lead a Research and Innovation team for well well-known cybersecurity startup.
He shared a very interesting concept about Cyber Security Evolution and how it is very much related to how Human Evolution is and how this field is adapting to the change. We also talked about how important it is for you to clear your basic Networking Concepts before just jumping into the field and trying some fancy tools that are ready to use.
While AI has been a very trending topic nowadays, it definitely has its importance in the cybersecurity field. He shared his expert opinion about how leveraging AI can be a game-changer for Cyber Security.
Lastly, we touched upon what should we choose between a Product Based Company and Service Based Company. How they both have different things to offer and as a budding Entrepreneur what one should focus on - Innovation, Tech, and Execution.
We did not miss discussing the importance of keeping your Work-Life balance, focusing on your Mental Health and how a youngster can beat symptoms like Imposter Syndrome or be Stress-free.
