@@asmashah981 As an ex-engineer he trashes enigneering talking about how saturated the field is/how boring it all is and kinda "scams" people by promoting online courses. Before that he promoted engineering and did interviews with peoples.

A good and fun interview. It was so nice to watch a girl talking about the IT field, an area ruled by men in its majority... That moment of hers, captured in the thumbnail never would make me think that she would be so happy, energetic and talkative... even Shane had more fun 😃. Thanks man! Waiting for more to come.

honestly I wish there was more specific talk about cybersecurity vs the many other tech/IT fields out there. This seemed to just be tech in general.

16:12 I'm going through this right now. It did hurt to see how little grades matter, though (I'm very proud of being a straight A student). Overall, a very good interview and I learned quite a bit. Nicole's mentality mirrors my IT mentor's mentality!

It's true that you don't need a degree to get into IT. That being said, it should be understood that you will hit a hard income wall later in your career. When you're 40-50 years old and looking to move into project/team management, most organizations are going to severely underpay you compared to comparable executives who have degrees. We're talking about making 100k rather than 150k+ so it's not like you're going to be hurting, but it's something most people don't realize until it's too late.

That’s where WGU comes in play because they offer affordable degrees in IT. It’s an online school. Anyone can complete the degree in less than 4 or even 2 years.

Hey Shane, love your vids they have been invaluable to help me decide what degree to do (i’m studying cogsci and loving it so thank you!), I was just wondering if you could make a video on cogsci degree in terms of future job prospects as it seems there are so many things you can do with it and I’m feeling slightly lost the more i research. Thanks again!

I I wanted to share my perspective after listening to the discussion, and I agree with about 80% of it, although I acknowledge that I'm not always entirely correct. Firstly, the concept of service security has been around for much longer than what was suggested, albeit under a different name, specifically IT security. As I am from the UK, the situation may differ slightly here. In many cases, if you intend to work for a respected organization, a good bachelor's degree is often a requirement, typically with a grade of B or above. However, this doesn't mean that you cannot find employment in more private organizations that may still prefer bachelor's degrees in computer science or general IT, along with a mix of IT certificates. The key is that these degrees should come from reputable universities with high standards, as this can facilitate international mobility since a bachelor's degree is generally regarded as the standard qualification, despite being only the first cycle of education. Regarding the statement made by the presenter about not having strict entry requirements or grades for certain professions, I believe this approach should be adopted in the field of IT because there are too many individuals who lack sufficient skills. It's crucial to have a solid understanding of the fundamentals in addition to practical abilities in order to excel in this field. wanted to share my perspective after listening to the discussion, and I agree with about 80% of it, although I acknowledge that I'm not always entirely correct. I'm a business analyst; we are not really IT or at least not philosophically IT. We code, but we are not devs either, so that's a strange thing, right? Not really IT and not a programmer but codes and often work in operations. Anyway, I hate puzzles. Never liked them, but I am curious and love to learn new things and solve problems. There is a difference between problem-solving in the real world and puzzles. She isn't wrong. I'm sure if you like puzzles, then IT/programming/coding is something you might like to do, but if you don't like puzzles and want to take a crack as those things work isn't the same thing, and you might like the work.
