All theaw videos from women in the tech field is giving me so much confidence and i feel so amazing about my choice. I hope everyone aiming for this gets this.
We need more women in this field my little sister is majoring in cyber security. I just have to be more competitive then her because she is smart as heck.
Thank you so much for encouraging people to pursue a practical and impactful career like cybersecurity!! I don't have any background in CS and have just been accepted into a cybersecurity masters program
By saying you don't have the CS background, do you also mean no related work experience? I'm asking as an non-CS graduate who's also looking into Cybersecurity.
I just want to say that, you not only help high schoolers but us 24+ year olds(like myself) too! Lol 😝 I am just starting out because I decided to do a career change and it’s been a rollercoaster 🎢 ride but I love it ! Thanks for being so open sweetheart ❤️. My hubby & I just moved here to SATX and there are so many resources it’s amazing! I’m glad to have came across your page!
You popped up into my recommended, and I'm glad. I'm a 30 year old woman who has been working on my cyber security degree for 2.5 years. On to starting the comptia route and am hoping to get an internship soon just picked up the amazon book from your description.
I asked about the terrorism groups because we learned about them in my terrorism class for my criminal justice degree, so I was curious if terrorists also use cyber to attack
damn, i love her the way she say these things it really motivates me and i wanted to take cs but i wasn't sure i can pull that off, but now i think i can do it , thank you so much, i really needed this
I'm so thankful I found your channel! As a black woman I appreciate the representation for women. We are pioneering in spaces that I have never seen us at the forefront of! Thank you!
Comp Science student currently in my third year, doing my internship. From the video I realised that I should not give up on Cyber Sec and btw you're gorgeous :)
Recently separated Army Grunt. Scared to death starting on CS this fall. I saw Math/Economics and I cuddled with my guns in the fetal position. Thank you for your help.
Lucky you . Everybody naturally trusts you and your path is so much smoother. . I on the other hand have to keep cleaning my pc just to open command prompt or install a virtual box or something. . It just gets tiring after a while . Good luck to u by the way .
I want to go to college and have that experience but I feel like it would just be a waste learning classes I don’t need and I could just go for different certifications that could build up my knowledge to that extent
Do you think a cyber security boot camp for 11k is a sound investment for someone looking to transition careers but prefers a class style structure? 11k just sounds like a big chunk of change when Reddit boards all preach self starting to get into this field..
This is GREAT! i just started with a staffing firm who specializes in cyber security and this was awesome, all in layman's terms. I really enjoyed learning. Any other resources you have about cyber 101, security architecture, DFIR Analysts/consultants, SOC's, DevOps, IAM, Cloud Security, etc. please send my way. Thank you!!
Wait you cant monitor or sniff network traffic using Wireshark at a public place!? aww man. lol I loved that you put this because as Im getting started I became tempted to do things like this! But as Im learning its wrong!
lol yeah SUPER illegal. I’m pretty sure it’s considered a form of wiretap? I’d have to look into it a bit more, but I have gotten many warnings from my professors lol. :)
Hello! I’m currently a high school graduate. I’m having trouble debating whether I should get a degree or just get certifications. Do you think it would be wiser in the long end to have a formal degree? Considering us as black women are looked down on in the hiring process.
If you dont have any foundational knowledge in IT I suggest getting a associates at a community college. I went from healthcare to cybersecurity and I went back for a associate then got my security+, I am now working as a tier 1 in a CSOC. My foundation is still rocky but I keep on trying. I am not black but I am married to a soft ware developer that is black and he says the best interviews he had were over the phone and they didnt know he was black until he showed up to work. I am the only woman in my department and I know that the csoc manager is actively trying to give women more interviews. I found this out after working at my job for 3 months that there is a non bias scale they use to hire. I had a 45 min one on one interview with the csoc manager (basic what is dns, port numbers/what they are etc). If you scored a 16 or higher you went to 2nd round interviews. 2nd round interviews were with 2 supervisiors (normally you might end up on one of their teams), 2 engineers (tier 2) and the csoc manager again. They simply want to see what knowledge you have and your problem solving skills. So far unfortanely I have been the only woman to pass the 1st round interviews.
Please go as far as you can! Wake up everyday and be the best you that you can be. Stop putting your race first or let it cripple you. If black women were locked down on then Goldman Sachs, Master Card and other major companies wouldn’t be investing in us. Be your best self and leave race at the door! 💖
As a female in the cyber security field, Whats the biggest fear if any that you may have? Also, What motivated you to seek this field of study. I am finishing my Masters in cyber security and started a business and expanding to RU-vid. I want to bring all demographics something they can relate to in the field. I just hit that subscribe button.
what is your programs in your campus study? There is computer science or cyber security? can if i choose program of computer science for cyber security?
Thanks for the great video. Very insightful. You mentioned some of the classes you are taking such as operating systems security. Would it be possible to link to their syllabus and the text books/materials to those courses? That would really help those of us who are trying to get ahead and/or independently learn. Thanks for the great video!
hey so I'm taking "Client Operating Systems" in college rn and required textbook is "The Linux Command 2nd Edition" hope this helps... we're doing work in AWS and Virtual Machine, mostly about permissions and the command and terminal lines for Linux and Windows
I'm starting a degree in cyber security in 2021 and I'm also an actress in my country (I'm 19, 20 next year). A lot of people tell me not to bother with a degree bc i have a future with acting (i plan to break into Hollywood hopefully because people from my country have done it) but I really wanted to do software engineering but decided on Cyber Security. So I'm doing research if I can juggle my current job with my degree or not. What do you think?
Opinion please. I have 0 xp with CS and Cyber but I feel it calling my name and I'm signed up for cyber security starting this summer. Do you see a lot of students start from ground zero like myself?
I am looking for females that are interested in Cyber Security, I don't know any other females that are interested in CS. I am new to this world. Willing to learn anything new.
I need some tips! I got a masters degree in cyber security in March and have not been able to find a job! What do you recommend I do to help me move further in the field. I don't have any proffesional experience in IT

Hi. I don't understand virtual box, what it's for, or what we're supposed to do with it lol. Can u explain that? I have a new interest in cyber security and im trying to learn all I can before deciding to go to college..thanks
Hi. John Lull here. I have a question about cyber security. I have a masters degree in Criminology. What more degrees or courses do I need to get a job in cyber security? Right now I know very little about computers.
Here in my country, we don't have cybersecurity course only computer science and IT... Which one should I pick? The school offering comsci here is an expensive private college so I was thinking of going to IT in a government college... Is IT good? Does it help, in some way with my further study of cybersecurity?
Hello, Rebecca, I am about to finish my last semester of college with a degree in business finance. Recently I discovered my interest in pursuing my future career in the cybersecurity field and to do that I am going to apply for the cybersecurity engineering master's degree program. Now I would like to ask you all what type of jobs I can get that relates to cybersecurity and business finance? And what are some of my advantages with a finance background?
Many here calling themselves experts are just full of theory passing exams doesn't make you an expert , you need real skills like programming ,networking ,and a super brain for critical thinking not for.The weak ,it's an extremely big and challenging field
Hellow I have degree (bachelor )of police academy of Europe Union country . I work in this job from 2010. I have a level 2 degree on software development. I have done a course - diploma ( with 33 ECVET ) in IT and cyber security ( from VELLUM) Is it a good idea to take a master on cyber security ? I want to go to work at U.K. police . Do they need people in this job? Will they recognise my degrees and certificates?
You can use Hack in the box, hackme and bunch of other services and cyber ranges. If you pay for the service to hack it and or use a cyber range with written permission you are okay
