I got into comics because of Spawn and Image Comics. Loved Cyber Force, Wild CATS, Young Blood, WetWorks, Savage Dragon and ShadowHawk! And I stuck with Image for Witchblade, Darkness, Backlash, Prophet, Weapon Zero and Gen 13, among others. Most people are Nostalgic for Marvel and DC but I was all about Image and indies like Vampirella, Shi and Lady Death.
Same here once Image came and gave us Spawn, YoungBlood etc. I was immediately hooked in together with Sho, Lady Death, Hellboy, Sin City and many others.
@@WildstormAddiction I just got my copy in the mail last night! Really interesting to see the progression over those first couple issues, as well as all the names that pop up from issue to issue. I wish there would be some inside baseball printed in here as well. Some interviews with people involved in production. Such an interesting time for comics, the 90's.
@@MDHaughton for sure! If you haven't seen them already here on RU-vid is a great documentary called The Image Revolution. And SyFy did a great series here on YT called The History of Image Comics (So Much Damage)...and yes that last line is part of their title lol
@@WildstormAddiction I've definitely watched that a couple times. I just discovered comics a couple years ago as a 36 year old. Go figure. It's been fun to study art and dive into all these cool creators. And these big ass reprints are a perfect place to dip my toes into these titles. I don't have any local comic shops, and buying a $1 comic online that has a $5 shipping cost isn't very economic.
@@MDHaughton yeah, shipping sucks sometimes. I also don't have a local comic shop so I usually use Discount Comic Book Service for singles or their sister site InStockTrades if I'm trying to track down graphic novels.
I'm not sure. The last time they got a nice collection was in 2017 when they got an Absolute editon. I have it and even thought its an older release, I've thought about doing a video for it since some people don't know about it. I haven't seen The Flash #787 yet but thats cool of Maul is in it since he appears to he absent from the upcoming Wildcats #1 in November.
Got the soft cover TPB the other day. Obviously great to have a collected edition, and all that just for 30$. HOWEVER... some of the printing looks really bad, especially the two Cyberforce Origins issues. The line art looks "fuzzy" somehow, maybe it's a lowres scan or something? Wondering if anybody else have seen that, or am I just having a bad copy? :D I remember reading the Joe Benitez issue back in the day thinking it was a kick ass book. Now, not so much. Don't have the original issue, so can't compare print quality.
I just went back and looked at my hardcover copy. If I compare the Cyberforce Killer Instinct issues and the Cyberforce Origin issues, it does appear rhe Killer Instinct issues are sharper.
@@WildstormAddiction I just flipped through the TPB again... Most of it actually looks fine, it's just those two Origins issues that look weird. Like the black line art is pixelated or something. But not a deal breaker. Bought the book for Silvestri's art and that is of course stellar! So worth the money, no matter what 😊
I had people tell me that too and I hope I'm not missing it but as I flipped thru it, it wasn't obvious to me. But for what it's worth, I think it is worth it.
Cyberforce looked cool, but their characters were so obvious X-Men rip offs. I mean, the wild C.A.T.s were based on the X-Men too, but at least Lee tried to do more and mixed them with other characters so they were less evident and more interesting.
For sure. And I feel Alan Moore's run took the Wildcats further away from their X-men inspiration. Not sure if the later iterations of Cyberforce did the same for that title.
