@@hehenerd and you know he would be into it because he was always in love with being more machine then human something him and Morgan blackhand had in common
@HojiDaSquirrel STOP feeding my addition hahaha. Jk jk. It does work well given he is machine obsessed. If anything this would be the ultimate machine vs flesh move, as you pointed out. You are pinned. And most likely a future short will come out of this 🙃😇
@@hehenerd Let's gooooooo I'm always happy to help my knowledge of games and story here's another free one, in the Original books and bored games Jonny Silverhand was designed after David Bowie and when 2077 was being made they wanted him to play Jonny in game before his unfortunate death, there was talk however of wanting to use early AI to put him in the role
@HojiDaSquirrel 🥲 tragic choom. On one hand I could see the negative backlash. But it would have been very cyberpunk 😞. Still smart choice by cdpr. Another short topic thooo, preeem!
I can't hardly use skippy he sucks and ik its because I turned it on puppy loving mode but doesn't it switch modes permanently after a certain amount of kills
Does he really say that in the anime? I'm on the last episode... I hope he says that in the anime... That's such a badass line. Utter badass. Unless you made that up just now, then you're the utter badass.
HA! I took so long typing that message, whilst watching Edgerunner, that he literally just said the line. JUST NOW! It was 100% as epic as I expected. I wish that Smasher was as big of a badass in the game, as he was in the show. Give the shiiiii-ns!!!some challenge and badassery. Yep. Smasher's shins are tooo easy. He absolutely, unequivocally, beyond a shadow of reasonable doubt... Skipped leg day. I'm talkin' like more than once or twice too... Fat guy with some skinnyyyy shins. Fat guy with some skinnyyyy shins! Ahhh... Yeah. I need some sleep. Bad. Asf.
@@derekspringer6448 Honestly I wish I could take credit but I’m not as cold as smasher, because not only did he literally and figuratively destroy David with that line alone. He destroyed everything that made David “special” or feel special in anyway. David built himself up and around his Sandi entirely, but Smasher? He already had how many cybernetics at the point he got his Sandi and was pretty much “yes this will be exceptional tool to my arsenal.” So from Smashers pov I can completely understand how much of a joke that really is, this boy who built himself around his Sandi and thought he was special. But that is no diss on David in anyway shape or form even Smasher said he had fun and choom lasted a decent amount of time against him all things considered, and became that nightcity legend..
@@derekspringer6448have u played since update 2.1? they gave him self ice, ground and pound, a laser, and a sandevistan that I thought made his fight harder
If you wanna realize how op V is remember that David had to start popping psychoactive meds with just the sandevastan and started to snap with a few more basic mods while V can get the same sandy and enough chrome to make a maelstromer blush and still not need any meds with or without the relic
Yeah, put in enough time before the heist and you can pretty much fully mod yourself before ever getting the biochip. V's just different. If it weren't for the biochip's nanites or whatever quite literally rewriting V's brain, I doubt V would've even had a problem with it. Straight up born to chrome and kick ass.
@@Alyrael. It’s not the chrome that makes you go over the edge, it’s the loss of ones own humanity via disenfranchisement, it’s a mental health issue, not a chrome issue.
It has been stated by the creator of CP2077’s ‘verse that Adam is a High-Functioning Cyber-Psycho, and is able to function normally because he was already in the same mental state before getting chromed
technically he already is. He is a full psycho who gets off on killing people. He was a psycho before he went full borg. Cant go cyberpsycho if he is already a psycho.
He has always been a cyberpsycho, the thing is, cyberpsychosis is strongly implied to not be real, just a catch all term for abnormal or unwanted behaviour. Not all cyberpsychos go on a knife rampage inside a mall.
His profile in the database says that his humanity was already questionable before his conversion. I like to think that most of us are taught to believe that all people have some good in them somewhere, but in truth, there are those rare accidents of nature or breeding in which some people really are just born broken. Smasher was born without humanity, and tried to fill that void with machinery, but he just became an addict whose life revolves around the next upgrade.
There's another similarity between Smasher and Bartmoss other than hybrid gear. They're both "not right in the head". Both of them are, quite honestly, psychos. Smasher may murder people for fun, but Rache doesn't have that much more regard for most other humans beyond a few friends like Spider Murphy. The biggest difference is Rache is fixated on hating corps and other authorities beyond everything else, which directs him in a direction which usually aligns with the PCs who get fucked over by corps and therefore he's one of the "good guys". Smasher just enjoys killing people, full stop, and working for Arasaka gives him what he wants.
Dammmnnn why you gotta involve my favourite character! But yeah when you put it that way, they are pretty similar 😭😭😭. Rache really could care less about other gonks, man is hell bent on just exposing corpos.
Well...he was in love with spider Murphy. He even made a little prank sexualized avatar thingy of her for the net to mess with her after he was gone, because deep down he was attracted to her. He admitted it in the end if memory serves..once it was too late for him. He had good reasons to hate most people, honestly thats probably why I like him... I know how he felt. He was screwed over pretty bad and honestly most people just suck. Smasher was just psychotic, enjoyed murder and actively sought out jobs he could have collateral damage on.
They should make it so he adapted during it like if ur using a sandy he'll use his to keep up ( like in edge runners ) or if you dont have anything he'll just activate his berserker and if you try to hack him well just do what they did when lucy tried to hack him, he needs phases were he gets more aggressive and thats it
@@julious129I don't think he should be impossible to hack, as that would punish people for going with hacking builds, but he should definitely be nearly impossible
The new 2.0 fight is a lot better. He takes more than like 2 minutes to kill and the fight has multiple phases. Much more in line with how a hyper-enhanced psychopath superhuman should be.
See I can’t see V being that strong ahhaha. Smasher is the end game character. Not even Blackhand bested him. So by admitting V is more powerful I’d also have to admit V is the most powerful in the entire lore. I just can’t admit that 😤
@@hehenerdQuestion if they make Smasher as strong as he is in the source material and V still beats him will you accept that V is the strongest in the universe
Its not that smasher is particularly good, just everyone else is an idiot. Blackhand the legendary solo weapon of choice was a rifle with less power than ar-15. A single shot of .50bmg ETE AP or 20mm autocannon(which us army had manportable in 2020 and wasnt even considered heaviest weaponry for power armor) would kill smasher but people fighting him decide to use low caliber pistols and rifles. That also canonically applies to V, from weapons used in game only the single sniper rifle and the turret MG should actually be able to damage a full borg.
Thanks for explaining this. I hate how people are confused how the mech was for him but never installed it and ends up destroying it. Time of development it may have been his strongest state, but by the time it was manufactured and "feild tested"... Smasher definitely had the custom dragoon suit set up with the sandy by then which he prolly perfered more then relying on "anti-grav" tech
Bet you Smaaher changed suits when fighting V. He probably saw V (anyone else with V) as nothing but roaches that he doesn't need one of his stronger suits.
At the same time i believe V is canon to be a ridiculously strong person (cyborg) too. That is also canon. Either way i can just as easily see adam coming back, since we know engrams are a thing and that they can bring back versions of people
@@luclin92I doubt Arasaka would just let their number one, attack dog, just die. He’d most likely has lots of engrams, maybe even being updated with his current memories. Like, imagine killing Adam Smasher, then a few days later, he just blows a hole in your wall and starts beating you up, for killing him
In the original Tabletop RPG game he was in, the Player Handbook basically described him as "the unbeatable boss that scares the sh** out of you and puts into perspective how weak you actually are in the lore." Even at the highest levels in-game, he is gonna be the boogyman that makes max level players scared to go to sleep at night. The idea is that all of his stats are maxed out and his skills/cybernetics are SUPERHUMAN and completely unattainable by any Player Character no matter what they try. His list of cybernetics is high end and EXTREMELY long, choom. Reading each one stat and cybernetic individually puts into perspective how terrifying he is in lore. They practically describe him as a MYTH because nobody survives an encounter with him. You cannot hack him, you cannot hit him, you can only run and hope his maxed out weapon skills don't get you. And you sure as s**t aren't gonna dissuade him from sending you straight to Jesus. He is unironically, seriously a psychopath in lore and owns it like nobody else ever will His list of cybernetics alone is TERRIFYING because it's basically a novel length description of all of the highest end cybernetics in universe wrapped together into a machine of brutality and unrivaled animosity. To sum up the words of the PHB into a short phrase: "RUN. Do not attempt to fight Smasher. F***ing RUN." Unlike other legends of Night City, who frequently fall short of the legends, ADAM SMASHER DOES NOT. He is EXACTLY what is described in the urban legends of Night City. In a single sentence: Adam Smasher is to the OG lore and expanded universe what V is to 2077.
I still believe that Bartmoss was the most powerful character in the Cyberpunk lore, but I love the concept of Smasher being how he was intented to be: A f*cking OP villain and immune to "plot armor" characters.
Woah. I never noticed where his pieces came from. Adam is essentially using his brain as a CPU to his chrome platform. Ya boy has a love for that Samson model.
The reason why V curbstomps Smasher with such ease is because V themself is inhumanely good. For the past several days V has been merging with Johnny Silverhand, gaining experience at an accelerated rate, growing exponentially. And with nothing left to lose, they have also been pumping in new cybernetics as if there's no tomorrow... since there likely isn't. By the time Smasher and V clashed, V has become an army of one, much like Smasher.
The reason why V curb stomps Smasher because of poor gameplay design. And Johnny Silverhand was a singer, he was never known for fighting, the entire memory sequence in Arasaka tower is either a ridiculous retcon or a lie fabricated by Johnny, Morgan Backhand did that to Smasher not johnny, who’s a serial narcissist and over-inflator. Hell the whole “johnny silverhand sends his regards.” Line that your V can say to smasher is met with “are you fuckin joking?” As if to imply that Johnny was an ant beneath his boot that Smasher only vaguely remembers, backed up further by Johnny’s insistence on moving forward.
@@thebigenchilada678 "Johnny Silverhand was a singer". Oh boy. Johnny Silverhand enlisted in the corporate army at a young age, fought in the corporate wars where he lost his arm and got the silver cybernetic arm, then quit the military and began his singing career while also engaging in anti-corporate terr... can't use that word on youtube... let's say, a lil bit of aggressive protesting with lots of casualities. In any case, he was good enough of a battler to completely annihiliate Arasaka special forces in any shootout with them and lost only to Smasher. Whatever experience he got from wars and anti-corporation aggressive protesting, it bled over to V who was also simultaneously fighting every day.
He took what he saw as the best parts of this and that. He doesn't like to over rely on any one component. He gave David shit for relying on the cyberskeleton.
@@Bowiiihowdybut also praised him for being able to even handle that much, i imagine the jump from regular chrome and the one bit of military tech to a whole artillery rig with experimental tech is like jumping from snorting smarties to snorting cocaine, eating shrooms, popping acid and shooting up heroine all at once.
We still have to remember that v is still Cannon the strongest person to ever exist in night City. Look at how chromed-out he was without being turned into a cyber psycho
Imagine what would happen if Smasher ever decided to interact with "the other side" of the Blackwall. An Adam Smasher with haunted cyberware/weaponry would be the closest thing to an honest-to-God _demon_ roaming the Earth you could find in the setting.
I mean, the reason we kill him in the game is just that because of the chip, V can fight off cyberpsychosis and use more mods than even Smasher can use.
Well, admittedly the reason V can hold so many microwaves at once is the fact that the Relic is literally ripping their brain apart and stitching it back together piece by piece, so any other implants seem like cherries on a cake of shit
@deznutes6689 2.0 is the update. Phantom liberty is the dlc. From whati know the update has overall done well to rebalance the game. I still fucking hate how they changed Mr. Hands' VA tho 😡😡
Adam: from the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the certainty and strength of the blessed Machine. V: allow me to pass through for a moment
Smasher is the kinda guy to run an AMD Processor with an Intel cooler and an NVIDIA graphics card. Then cover that up in an Apple casing that has Windows as it's operating system.
Note how they say he is the strongest "fully converted" cyborg. That is because Morgan Blackhand is still out there. And that's what keeps Adam up at night.
"Low key breaking the continuity of his character." Smashers underwhelming boss battle showing is poor for gameplay reasons. Not for lore ones. Beating him is A-OK for the setting. I hate it how people are more than happy to say "oh its Night City/Cyberpunk - bad ends are to be expected" but disregard it for someone like Smasher. Smasher isnt exempt either. Getting bodied by V is a perfect ending for an overrated, past-it former Legend like Smasher. It just needs to be reworked so its more impressive. Like "not getting decimated in 20 seconds by a vibrator" impressive.
Oohhhh I like your perspective. I guess it’s just not consistent with his character or it’s underwhelming. To me if he was fighting maybe a whole squad of Vs then it would make sense. Someone who can wreck legend after legend then gets potatoed by a new comer like V doesn’t fit the lore for me
@@hehenerdy the end of the game, the list of cyberware V can install and use easily rivals Smasher’s loadout. The boss fight was terribly designed, but if we’re talking continuity- I don’t get why people think V being an absolute beast is so far-fetched. And if being borg’d out the ass isn’t convincing enough, netrunner V can abuse the poor guy from across the room with one quick hack. Edit: Just realized I read over the “for me” part. Ignore my rant- opinions aren’t illegal 😭
@@hehenerdI mean V is worse than a cyberpunk god, they've potentially completed every single gig in the city from all fixers, has every single implant available, they're a multimillionaire, has the highest possible street rep, some of the most dangerous equipment and gear that exists, has two minds in one body, has custom equipment they crafted and is the next thing to being fully cyber. V has gotten through the Blackwall and comeback, has killed countless gangmembers from every single gang in Night City, tamgled with multiple rogue AIs (and evem befriended some of them), has gone on multiple cyberpsycho rampages mowing down countless MaxTac victims like they were ants, they've survived a bullet to the brain, kidnapped Arasakas, and assaulted every major corportations and led a one man assault against the entire Arasaka HQ and killed pretty much person inside...why wouldn't V be able to take on Adam Smasher? V isn't a god, they're a godkilling nightmare - and Night City will probably be forever grateful that they only have 6 months to live. The Adam Smasher boss was still too easy though even if you speedrun the game and don't equip any cyberware - but that's not a lore problem, lore accurate V is scary, it's just not a very difficult game. Hopefully one day they'll give us a much scarier version of the boss fight at least on very hard mode, just so we can have a bit more of a challenge.
@@pnobodi5341I mean, all the shit V is installing is still just over the counter stuff, even if it’s the best stuff you can get over the counter. the range and amount of implants and cyberware he can get is also pretty limited relative to full cyborgification and everything else that’s out there in the lore. Smasher on the other hand is the pinnacle of engineering and bleeding edge technology. He’s a legendarily gifted killer with the better part of a century of experience, stuffed to the gills with the most expensive, experimental shit arisaka can make or get their hands on, customized specifically for his use, and no expense has been spared in making him the most efficient weapon in existence
@@daltongarrett3393 If you mean "over the counter" literally, then yeah, but if you're saying that to point out V's cyberware as run of the mill, I disagree. NC is pretty much a city-sized black market, and V states at least twice that even Kabuki has the best stuff around. I don't think it's crazy to say that NC ripperdocs are capable of providing corporate-grade cyberware, or something rivaling it. Does it make sense? idk, but evidently it worked because we spend the game spanking everybody. Not worrying about cyberpsychosis because of an extra psyche is also a plus. Again, V is a beast
He definately has. He apparently has different bodies for different tasks anyways, he is THE most important Arasaka soldier, he knows about the tech and how it works (implied in Edgerunners) and most important: he is the Fan favourite antagonist and no Developer or Businessman would let him die after just one Game... same as Arkham Joker.
When you see him in the game at first, he looks like an elite heavy soldier. When you see him at the end of the game and in the animation he is literally a technological demon.
Honestly people forget smasher went through shit and even gets fried a bit by an AI that attacks arasaka if i remember correct before fighting V… sooo could be why he is weaker.
@@araibgohar112 yeah always wondered if that is what took the brunt of the damage before the fight with V, would make sense if his sandi got fried before you even reach him or something.
Anyone else think his less busy flashback design looked cooler like his arms especially looked better and mor powerful than the more hard metal and skeletal looking ones he has in the present at least to me
Crazy how when you think about it, edgerunners wasn't a tale about a tragic end to a cast of great characters, but literally just a lore explanation on why Adam Smasher has the sandevistan
I literally Chris Rocked this dude's ass. I feel like there shouldve been more of him chasing us or something similar at the start of the game so we get a little insight of how strong he is and how strong V becomes throughout the game.
Smasher's strength isn't just his chrome, but also his experience. Dude's like, what, 100+ years old at this point? And he spent most of that time in combat. Just look at his reaction to seeing David in that mech-thing. David probably thought "oh, powerful chrome," but Smasher immediately saw it's flaw: It's too heavy and reliant on anti-grav to even stand up. Which is funny considering 'Saka made it FOR him, lol. It's like getting a new tool and just going "bro, this shit sucks!" Also, I doubt Smasher is dead. Dude has backups of backups of his brain, and dozens of bodies, including an Elvis one for "special" occasions.
I wish they would rework the Adam Smasher fight in the game. Have him get more difficult as he takes damage (rather than easier), or even regen health. Get rid of backup soldiers because theyre just distractions, save the carpet bombs for mid/late stage, and let him use the Sandy to dodge some of your attacks
Ah yeah the dragoon, that checks out. Fun fact about the Dragoon, the humanity loss from the full conversation is so bad that soldiers in it are in robot mode 90% of the time since it leaves them riddles with cyberpsycosis
