The world of Cyberpunk 2077, how did it become this cybernetic, megacorp distopia? Believe it or not, Cyberpunk world is the same as our world with a few slight changes starting back in the 1800's.
Cyberpunk 2077 Timeline EXPLAINED! The World Of Cyberpunk 2077 (Cyberpunk Lore)
The Cyberpunk world started to change all the way back in the 1800's with key characters being born. These character don't play a part in Cyberpunk 2077 but they do play a big part in the family names. E.g. Sasai Arasaka was born in the 1859 who later created the company Arasaka. The same thing happened in the Cyberpunk timeline throughout the 1900's with other key character being born, In the late 1900's things really started to change which altered the course of the world for it to be the world of cyberpunk.
This is the whole Cyberpunk 2077 timeline, the history of cyberpunk, going through all the cyberpunk 2077 details that can show you how the world developed. This cyberpunk video should help you understand the cyberpunk 2077 lore.

Yeah, we know it's a 1979 Porsche 911 Turbo, which is still considered as a good car but with dangerous intents of killing the owner (engine placed behind the rear axle causing the front to lose grip, etc) but yeah it's the only car that resembles something that's the same in our world too, the rest of the cars in the game might resemble some of our cars but they just have different designs and names

If you're lucky, you live with someone else that will come in and jack you out before you die. Otherwise, the landlord comes in looking for the rent that's two months late and finds you at your desk, arms folded across your chest. But the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, with Night City, Johnny Silverhand, Adam Smasher, ETc were created for the most part by Mike Pondsmith. Mike is not a writer, his career started as a Video Game designer in the early 80s. He migrated to the Tabletop scene in 84 and published the first edition of Cyberpunk, Cyberpunk 2013 in 1988. So yes, it started as a tabletop, not a book, it started in 1988 and became popular with the second edition in 1990, Cyberpunk 2020. And he created it cause he was a huge weeb and wanted to recreate the feeling he got watching Blade Runner into an RPG system

Fun fact: my grandfather worked for central oil (SovOil in cyberpunk) as a drill engineer he made one of the most durable drill design. This happened in around 2008 In cyberpunk, but happened in 1986 in our timeline

They may not have a completely free market, but a free market is not necessary for a country to be capitalist. When the capital is controlled by an owner class (people whose income comes primarily from owning capital) that is separate from the working class (people whose income comes primarily from wage labor), you have capitalism. In free market capitalism, the owners of capital compete to profit more than each other. In the Chinese system, they tend to work together through the state to increase profit overall. Either way, the wealth mostly ends up in the hands of the owner class even though it was produced through the labor of the working class.

You do realize that cyber implants do exist today. Bill gates even states that by 2025, most people worldwide, will have their phones 'implanted' in their hands. And civilian tech is always about 20 years behind military tech. So, if the public will have access to implants in 2025, that means that the military has been using implants since 2005, at the very latest.

Im 46, grew up playing CB2020 and reading William Gibson and Philip K. Dick etc. and I've always felt people should read those authors and their dystopian worlds because they mirror our own future more than the dystopias of books like Orwell's 1984 that people refer to so often. For good or bad I've been around long enough to see much of Gibson's world come to pass.

1984 is more of a thought process on how to create the perfect immovable societal structure. 1984 teaches a lot about propaganda techniques, and they are, in some form, in every country in the world. China for instance: cult of personality, intended absolute control of every citizen, government control of information for the masses. In my democratic country, the status quo is maintained by cahoots with the second most voted party. If you recall in 1984 governments had different names but they were actually all the same. Simples points in the book that mirror society everywhere. They all mirror the current situation in some way. But they are warnings, asking people to question their current rights and the dangers of mass opressive colectives such as monopolies/oligopolies or governments. I don't agree that one single book mirrors our world better. However, I agree some of the bests what ifs are from Philip K Dick, however (if you think that, I mean)

I bought this game on just about a week ago. And holy shit did it blew my expectations. Stories and images of cyberpunk at launch, made me wait until it was patched. Be interesting to see how far modern we will get classic real life cars in the game considering the collapse and mega corporations growth now that we learned vehicles like a 1977 Porsche turbo will be in the game. There’s another key point in the timeline you missed: the R.A.B.I.D.S virus, from what I could gather from in-game tips and dialogue, the virus was so vicious that a good chunk of the net was ravaged and torn apart, and only a few sites were safe from the virus.

there is a book in game which changes your story a bit, it basically explains that the mission to Jupiter was launched before the 4th corporate war, then the NASA HQ was destroyed during the 4th corporate war. they lost contact with the Jupiter mission and were never able to re contact them

I appreciate the effort this most have required; it does give an overview but I feel like it's more difficult to keep up with than it needs to be. Because you are basically running through bulletpoints, the overall timeline is not that easy to understand or keep track of. I think it would help a lot with the structure of your video(s) if you used "chapters": basically bulletpoints with subpoints. Introduce the chapter/subsection. After running through one chapter, summarize it. Doing this and then summarizing the whole thing helps a lot, as it allows us to connect things back to a general structure. A visual timeline with the most important events would also have helped. Just my two cents, merely tips that you'll probably never see 😂

the human clone thing kinda opens up to the 2077 dlc, what if one way we find a way of curing our self is cloning our body and using soul kiler and using the chip to take over our clone body? basically giving us a whole new life and body. sure you may have to get your augs again (like the dlc for dues ex) but would be interesting enough

Cyberpunk isn’t fiction it’s a warning for the future but because we’re emotional animals we tend to write these things off. Now I understand the argument that it’s simply fiction and it’s art/entertainment but if we’re being honest that’s just an excuse and a disguise not to panic the masses because sadly they’re more emotional than you and me IMO.

None. Both of them are set in alternate universes, not ours. Fallout's timeline is an alternate 1950s future well Cyberpunk is an alternate 1980s future.
