The meeting with the Maelstrom gang may be one of my favorite moments in gaming. The environmental storytelling, the way their cybernetics look, how they all sound like they speak out of busted old speakers, it builds itself up so well. I wish the other gangs had bombing introductions like this.
if you let dum dum live at all foods, then you can take him down at the Totenaz to get his rare doom doom revolver that fires 4 shots for every trigger pull
@@moonlightdevlopment7164 That's why New Vegas, created in less than two years, is generally considered the king of branching RPGs and CP77 at best is called "a good game, but a bad RPG".
@@singami465 Love both games, but NV is a sandbox RPG and Cyberpunk2077 is not. Cyberpunk would have to sacrifice a lot of its presentation to be like NV.
@A V I I Z O N a game that was held back because of Greedy corporations, and "believed" that last gen was finished...so that's why it got released in such a poor state, this game had and still has potential to blow everything out the water, well all we have now for extra content is phantom liberty and Project Orion, which I'm hoping that Orion unleashes the full potential of Mike pondsmiths dream of the perfect Cyberpunk RPG adaptation
@@iainsteele5737 yeah. Beginning of the game was super detailed, down to walking away from jackie had him auto drive to the food mart we met at. Theres a shit ton of small details I love but its all thrown out the window after the prologue.
um it does tho. in a later quest the gang shows up again and your interactions with the gang change based who u left alive or dead. either royce, brick, or someone else is running things and their thoughts on you depend on the choices u made in the mission
@@EpicMorgana32 I'm aware of that, but I consider that insignificant. It was one small interaction at the club and once that is done it has no effect on how that gang treats you. What I was referring to was in depth relationships with the different factions in 2077. Something with faction missions and a reputation system.
@@aderek79  idk what yo tell u. it changes an interaction with a major gang in a quest. just cause there is no thing tellin u your reputation in a gang doesnt mean aspects like that dont exist.
@@EpicMorgana32 OK, you're technically correct. :) It changed a single isolated interactions that did not change things beyond that one conversation script. I would have preferred many such instances that caused apparent long term changes with all of your future interactions with the gangs. As far as some hidden reputation system, if someone had found a way to get in with a gang, corp, etc. the info would be out there. Street Cred unlocks gear and a few side missions but no one dismisses you or fears you because of it (no actual street reputation). Anyway, the game is out and I seriously doubt such a major code change will happen so it doesn't matter at this point.
@@EpicMorgana32 stop being a kiss ass, the next interaction with Royce is towards end of the game for 2 minutes. Are you playing dumb or just failing to understand how this game wastes 90 percent of its characters and development
I wish we could choose to have Royce as a friend throughout the game, mainly cause he's such an anarchist and will turn every confrontation into a fight. (Would love to have a war against the Corpos)
I got this one on my first play through cuz I was scared shitless of Maelstrom but now I realized they were just dickheads in the end and I missed a special meeting with Meredith.
@@mostrowski you can take Dum dum down in this mission and kill Royce, and save Brick You'll still meet him in the Eurodyne mission for getting Nancy/Bes
Yeah and on this ending Meredith dies too, I got the special meeting with her but idk if she is still alive after that, I know you can find her body in the water like old style mafia style were they cement ur feet and put you in the water
@TheWitherling I did that mission while Royce was still alive and Nancy from samurai was giving him an interview. I wonder how it would’ve panned out if Royce wasn’t there.
I did this and then got to talk with dum dum and royce once again during one of the samurai quests Lol. i saw dum dum and was like MY BOY DUM DUM ITS REALLY YOU
This is prolly the only quest that delivers what the game promissed... different endings in which your choices matter. Think there's 4-5 ways to finish this quest.
Well, friend, There are actually a dozen or more quests that have more than 3 ways to finish them. you just gotta replay them. Not a 100% finished game but whatever it is is super fun and way better than stuff that comes out anyway.
Bruh dont even get me started with the Corpo cut content.... I thought this story is reluctant blackmailed right-hand man to this questionable psychopath Corpo CEO. I start with MY OWN faction, already basically at the top, enemies are just as/if not more powerful than us AND out to get us. Being rich and connected while also be forced to undergo clandestine operations in the Night City against already powerful and tactful enemies. In my impressions from the Reveal gameplay Corpo was supposed to be the "dive right into it" story line. Dropped right into the middle of so much shit and conspiracy, while also given tons of toys and contacts already to explore. haha... Streetkid ftw... I guess...
There are few quests that do that. There is skippy, that thing with believing killer (cross scene just pulled my brains out) and delamain quest. And I still did not finish the game.
@@PaullyG You only get a choice if you took them up on their offer I think, otherwise you go in oblivious to what’s going on between Militech and the gang.
@@FreemanicParacusia problem with this game was if I remember this is the only time you fight these? They really didnt take any notice of the gangs in the game apart from Arasaka.
i love the detail of the Maelstrom guy checking the soles of his boots. From the point of view of Cinematis, the asset could have remain static, but they had the detail of givig him "something else to do". Good.
I love that mission so much! It can be played so much way! You can rip the turrets upon entering and killing everybody, you can side with them, you can end it peacefully...
I like a lot the Maelstrom and how they fight. This is a 10/10 video. This game is growing on me. After Edger Runners this makes A LOT of sense. I want more about the Maelstrom, work for them have them as my legion. This game can be great. Well it's getting there for sure in 2022.
It's really scummy that this is the mission they showcased for their demo. Especially considering it's the ONLY mission that has this level of branching paths; the only mission comparable to the likes of Deus Ex: MD's mission design that they were inspired by. The other parts of the game don't go even go close to how much player choice this quest had.
Thanks, I thought there wasn't a "happy ending" kind of thing with the Maelstroms, I love the look and how the Maelstroms are, they're kind of nomadic, really cool if after that the remaining members of the Royce/Brick group, if join Dex's group, T-bug, Jackie and V and help V and Jackie in the robbery in konpecki plaza then the codebreaker helps T-Bug, Royce or Brick stay with Dex in the "leadership" part " already Lars and Kurt and MAYBE Brick also go with Lars and Kurt with Jackie and V in the part to get the relic
If you choose to kill Royce and have a shoot out with Maelstrom you can find Brick and rescue him. He will also appear in that quest and will be nice to you
I wonder what happens in the second conflict mission if you side with maelstrom because you usually either fight through it or you walk out without dropping anyone because you saved Brick. So it would be really cool if you could see what happens in that quest because of this.
this was the only mission which had multiple outcomes and other pathes to take which would affect future missions. Even tho cdpr advertised all missions to be like this... and this was the mission that they featured at e3 too lol
I thought about sides, what i'm going to do one there. And then i accidentally ripped off the machine gun and went all Rambo on them. This mission was when i started to enjoy Cyberpunk.
Worth noting that how this mission plays out will affect a side quest that pops up all the way towards the end of the game. Spoilers below. If you sided with Royce and Dum Dum, they'll show up again later, and you might have to take them down during the Second Conflict side quest from Kerry. If you did not side with Royce, and found and saved Brick, he lets you walk out with what you need during Second Conflict. If Royce and Dum Dum are disposed of and Brick is not rescued, then you're forced to fight your way out during Second Conflict.
Will have to test this to see if anything changes if you find the evidence implicating Gilchrist or whatever, before you confront him or he you, as that last part of the interaction with Militech.
Royce model is so frkn weird.. He's missing his frontal lobe.. I mean yeah it explains why he behaves the way he does.. also respect for chosing this ending.. I can't leave that place without Royces weapon
Yep, and problems with the frontal lobe are associated with a lack of empathy and psychopathy. So Royce deliberately made himself a psychopath with that surgery!
I got the outcome where dum dum tells jackie to sit down and jackie says make me and the red bar came up and I decided to say nothing and jackie just started shooting
@@michaelross3241 Maelstrom became a neutral party for me so without spoiling anything I got access/the ability to talk to a few people you otherwise couldn't. edited because I just realized what I said is the subject of the video lol
And much later @the maelstrom club you can get the iconic gun from dum dum if you help them against militek... but no romance with meredith orherwise :-/
Dum Dum would make a fun side ally for a morally bankrupt V, do some jobs for him and get some drugs and Doom Doom free of charge. As sick as Maelstrom are, woulda been nice to side with them on more occasions to really get an evil V.
I think this has effect on side mission where you need to rescue Jhonnys firend from Maelstrom to reactivate his band. Well I kiled Royce so they wanted to kill me later :D
