Really takes away any fear out of the character. The Anime is so brilliant and Adam looks so scary that it made me google a bunch of characters and find out what happened to him in Cyberpunk 2077 since I havent played it yet...
@@en3myt4ll0n9 That's what's disappointing about the game, that is seems a bit incomplete because the acting, voice acting, animations, etc when they nail them are INCREDIBLE
@@willmgs3903 what I’m saying, her screams just so so realistic... something you would hear if this actually happened irl. They have some major flaws like any other game but character development and acting definitely isn’t one of them.
There is literally no reason to spare Smasher except doing a 100% non-lethal run. In fact, if I were allowed to kill only one enemy in the game, it would be Smasher. He's probably the biggest piece of shit in Night City
Because sparing him would be humiliating him. He hates people that aren't as decked out in cybernetics like he is, so, he sees other people as a bunch of useless meat, and his own cybernetics as superior. When he gets spared, he's gonna have to live with the fact that his fancy metal cybernetics never meant shit and that he got beaten by what he always despised and saw as weak, a human with just some regular "meat" body.
Watched the anime recently and my god they gave adam smasher justice instead making him to a formidable war machine rather than an easy to kill ragdoll?
I am disappointed that one can't do 'don't fear the reaper' then join the Aldecaldos in skipping town so Saul is spared. Doubly so since if you romance Panam then leave with them she is too busy running the clan to spend much of your very limited remaining time with you, which is in itself sad. Oh well, better to burn out than to fade away... Crystal palace ho!
@@poggerato4516 It's not just about how much chrome you have, but also battle experience, strategy, preparedness, as well as mental state. V was just better on all avenues. I'm sure if they animated the V vs Adam fight in Anime form, it'd really properly show just how much of a beast V is. This pretty much makes them the legend of legends. David was mad good, but V is on a whole other level.
@@Echo_1773cyber psychosis can be manifested in manny ways, for example we have jonnhy who speak to his mechanical arm that whisp things to him, also he blame the arm everytime he do something bad or evil
POV: You've just watched Edgerunners and now know how much stronger V is than David Side comment: I still enjoy David's evolution Edit: TYSM FOR THE LIKES❤
I used Rebecca’s shotgun “Guts” you can find it in a bush behind 3 praying monks where she died in the circle park by arasaka tower it’s on the metro fast travel side of the circle
I wanted to do the 'don't fear the reaper' solo run to spare Saul, then skip town with the Aldecaldos but that's not an option afforded us. Sadly it means that if you do go with the Aldecaldos and Panam you're going to still have an absentee partner while your very limited clock ticks down.
@@oppai9611 Are you joking? You do realize what happens if you DONT go with them? They slowly rot and fade away. Its made clear in the ending they NEED this raid. They need to it fund their fresh start. Nomads are supposed to risk their lives. Its part of who they are. Losing Saul and Bobby and Teddy was nowhere near as sad as having Saul txting you begging to throw him some scraps after your sucessful raid because they need the money real bad. Saul gave his life sure but it gives the Caldos a new lease on life.
Most poetic moment I had for this game was the fight with smasher. Had him to his knees then left him knowing he was gonna say something as I walk away. I get all the way to the door to Mikoshi and blabs I’ll be back I hit a 180 turn malorian arms Johnny flip one shot quick scope to the dome and v hit em with that “yeah I doubt it”...and scene
Before edgerunners: I'm not a killer! I must spare this guy! After edgerunner: you killed David, Crushed Rebecca and left Lucy to be alone, you don't deserve mercy
To be fair, David was already dead in a sense. No way he could have undone his cyberpsychosis in time. Rebecca’s the only person who really deserves to be avenged.
Adam has won fights so easily he forgot what pain even feels like, that's why his line: "Is this pain? I remember this sensation.." is so genuine, and he's actually impressed your able to make him feel pain again.
@@marshawikanta721 Yeah, it was sad ending, but at least the story was executed really well. I hope there's no season 2 because the ending is already perfect.
@@mikefromTexas He isn't a soldier. When he *was* a soldier, he was dishonorably discharged for his behavior. He's a merc. He has no obligation to what he does, and does it entirely because he *likes* killing. In fact, he intentionally seeks out missions that he feels will cause the highest body count. This is why he tries killing what's left of David's crew when they bolt- that wasn't part of his mission set. Furthermore, Smasher detects the player in code when V first sees him, and chooses not to tell anyone. Probably because it wouldn't have been fun for him. Not very soldier-like. Protip: Don't defend mass murderers. Also, when orders are immoral soldiers have a duty to disobey them. Blind obedience isn't a virtue.
@@mikefromTexas Following his orders as bodyguard would have been alerting his boss to the fact V was hiding in the TV. He chose not to. He isn't given orders, not really. He's given challenges that he tackles for fun and chrome. To prove that humanity and being organic are inferior to him and chrome. And in that, yes, he's competent. Also mate, you said that he wasn't doing anything wrong. Last I checked, murdering for funsies is pretty wrong.
I do like that they give you the option to spare or kill almost everyone, just wish there was a reason to. Other then a handful of people there is no reason to spare anything.
I personnaly played as much non-lethzl as I could after the prologue. Since V is slowly dying a'd juste lost his friend, I think it's logical to suppose that he might be a little more "sensible" on that subject, and, so, less inclined in killing people
Sometimes you can get better rewards for not killing your target, mainly the cyberpsychos, but a few other missions where you have the option to kill the target but if you keep them alive they get taken away.. probably to be tortured and killed so not sure if that is truly pacifist.
I imagine he’s not gone arasaka prolly had a copy of him somewhere like suburo had and he took over Yorinobus body so maybe arasaka will put him in a new more advanced body
I played the game like I was Doom Slayer so I asked myself would doomslayer let him live? And then I proceeded to charge up my shotgun and blow him away
If Arasaka doesn't dispose of him for his failure, then they will rebuild him, upgrade him, make him better than before. I spared Adam for the chance to fight again, to fight a stronger opponent with even more experience. I hope it's not the end, I hope we meet again.
Honestly this is me in every game I can spare an enemy, grow stronger so that next we meet I might have a little fun, I hate it when they don't come back tho
Smasher wanted to die after this defeat. He knew Arisaka was never going to rebuild him back nor use his services again after his failure. He knew he would live out the rest of his (questionably short) life left in a state of permanent damage & pain. Smasher knew what fate lies before him. Killing him is Smasher going out on his own terms.
@@TheAkuiBombBaby I'm not saying it doesn't feel good. But the fact that he knows that he's done for. That's why he goads you into killing him after the fight.
I doubt it, like yeah he failed once but he got beaten by fucking cyber jesus and before that he was cleaning house for over 60 years. Any gonk can see he's still useful, escpecially in the precarious situation that Arasaka is left in after the ending.
@@muda1312Cyberpunk world isn't that bright. NUSA wiped Johnny when they could convince him to join them or some shit, but no. Any corpo would kill to have Smasher even in that state.
Exerts from the Final Boss Manual: Choose your battle location in a challenging environment, preferably an enclosed area or a chase through a chaotic environment. Leave a considerate amount of ammo, weapons, or emergency health equipment laying around. Be sure to acknowledge your opponent by taunting or simply talking to them in combat, even if you are losing.
In a lot of games the "kill/spare" options means nothing only dialogues changes, that for the player means only getting an achievement or see something little different. Or maybe you simply want to role-play with high mortal principles or as infinite blood thirsty... I think edgerunner did retroactively something almost unique. You need to have loads of courage to forgive Adam and spare his life now, like killing him now matter because you are blinded by revenge. In the game that choice can still means anything but now for the player that spare/kill matter and it's an heavy choice.
Revenge is a fools game that’s a true fact it sometimes solves everything sometimes it doesn’t and at the end it’s all a lie and makes you take your own life or sacrifice yourself to save everyone for the greater good
I love how whenever you say Johnny sends his regards. Adam doesn't even remember who he is. Because Johnny didn't meant shit to him. His rivalry was with Morgan Blackhand.
@@leonrussell9607 The TTRPG lore (which is confirmed to be what ACTUALLY happened and not Johnny's memories) shows that Smasher, while knowing who Johnny was, he truly didn't care about him a lot. In reality he barely looked at him and killed him without a word, so he could focus in Morgan. Also he isn't who collected his stuff, it was a fan of his. Probably all of it was stolen before 2077, because it was around 203X that they last talked about Johnny's possessions. But yeah, Johnny in 2077 makes V believe that he was much more important and had a bigger role (other example is that the AHQ Bombing wasn't even his idea, it was Militech's).
@@Ramos_Andy18 lol yeah heartbreaking the ending crushed me. David died a legend though. In my mind David got Lucy pregnant... And he lives on through them... It's feasible...
In my story, Saul and Panam was there, at that moment seeing Adam standing over Saul I was thinking it was a decisive moment in being able interact to interrupt Adam in killing Saul. I kept pressing Aim and fire but nothing happened. Missed opportunity there to create a cool moment in for another outcome.
The one thing I always hated in rpgs is when you can't use your character's gear to impact the story, for example I could have used one my many air hypos to save Jackie or atleast keep him awake until we could get to Vick, in Saul's case quick hacks or the Sandesvistan operating system or just a really powerful gun could have saved Saul
I liked how he gets weaker as the fight goes on. Blew through almost all my ammo so I just went in swinging with my gorilla arms. It felt cool dancing around him beating him down while he was too slow to keep up. Did the Saka ending and the arena you fight in for that is cool with lots of destructible cover so we made a mess of the place.
During the fight i've got out of all ammo, and i got last 2 percents with bare fists. I landed my last hit on kneeled Smasher with bare fist, powered up in heavy attack, like in silly 80s movies :D
Rogue and Saul instantly die to Smasher like chumps. Takemura survives the fight after taunting Smasher the entire time. "Oh ho, I think the beast is angry."
@@Korax0t0x No, he didn't. David had other priorities. You can't fault the guy for 1st getting hit because the fixer was running away or when he was carrying Lucy. Even when they were down he just didn't have anymore suppressents to keep control over his body.
Look, he's so cute in his 99% cybernetics state. Uhhhhh, such a big target for Widow Maker, I don't even need to aim to dispatch him in less than 10 seconds.
Something I didn’t get about this game is why they made Adam Johnny’s arch enemy? That’s stupid imo. It was always Morgan Blackhand vs Adam Smasher. Adam didn’t give two shits about Johnny. I guess I can understand why Johnny sees it that way, but Adam really shouldn’t care.
I heard someone rationalize it by Johnny ego subconsciously removing Militech's Morgan Blackhand from his recollections of Arasaka Tower assault. But yeah, it is a bit jarring, Rogue or Smasher should have mentioned it at least.
@@usadroopymeat1099 watch the anime cyberpunk: edgerunners , the anime serves as a prequel to the game and takes place about a year before the events of Cyberpunk 2077.
@@Phenomatron i mean if i was David i would’ve done the same tbh. Hell naw i ain’t becoming a new construct and be an arasaka’s new lapdog choom. After what i went trough. That’s just like surrendering
Wonder who'd spare him at all? In his lore the man was always just plain evil, not like Darth Vader becoming evil and mostly machine, Smasher was ALL machine and nothing was there to redeem.
