Cybertruck Foundation Series - First Look 

It's to the point where its so annoying to hear about the "look and fingerprints"

I love how it looks too. It's about how functional it is, being practical to the max, not caring about dents, or paint being scuffed up, plus the space and the safety, and the ease to steer, it's quite obviously the most significant vehicle of the century, so far. It's going to age really well. The stainless steel is absolutely gorgeous, and I don't get all the complaining about fingerprints - my truck is black and when it's clean and polished you can see fingerprints on it a mile away.

Are you going to pay extra for foundation series? I got my invite 4 days ago.

@@brightlight7217 does your foundation series show rebate available on the awd? Mine does not. But lists truck at 70,990 still + 20k charge. Maybe rebates will increase for 2024?

Elon has been talking about building this truck for over a decade.

@@TroyRubert Yep. But he isn't the designer. That's Franz and team. He gave the brief, they designed the truck. Of course he gives a lot of input during refinement. But go listen to a Franz interview about the CT. They surprised him one day with a full clay model of the truck. He had not seen this design before that, not even on paper.

@@user-to2rf1rj5v He is credited for the design for leading Franz to go for something angular instead of molded. But you're right he didn't pencil it in.

No shit genius. Elon is the CEO, his role is to oversee the whole company, not design every car, that is Franz job. Elon set the goal and the objective.

This is 100% false. There are in fact state laws that require owners to have side mirrors. It varies state by state.

Elon has explained this over and over. It's angular because the bulletproof steel is so thick that it can only bend in one direction, no compound curves. Tesla uses a special air-bender which can bend this thick steel without marring it.

In return, he didn't fold up the seats. Fair exchange?

Choice of materials. You can "break" this steel, but not bend.

It is actually rubber for off-roading so you can air down the tires. Plastic would just pop off because it's not flexible. They did this so it doesn't force anyone to remove them of they don't want to.

@@HenryLoenwind I lose about 40% of my range towing a 19 ft 2,000 lb RV trailer with my X. The Cybertruck will be similar. And it’s not the weight of what is being towed that matters so much, it’s the aerodynamics; the shape and size of what is being towed matters.

All production cybers trucks have a rear view mirror. What you saw was pre-production models.

@@ElectricGlider2016 It's weird because in that video they said it had a mirror but it was because it was a pre-production model. I think it's confusing because they have lots of pre-productions and production models floating around and nobody knows what's what. haha

The rearview mirror is just clipped in and can be removed. The prototypes all had them removed or not installed in the first place. My take on this is that it makes more sense to remove it as you'll be driving with the tonneau cover down most of the time unless you have kids in the rear seats you need to watch. It being there would just trick you into looking into it instead of at the rear camera display.

@@HenryLoenwind Yeah, but what would make more sense is if they made that mirror a display that could show the rear camera so you don't have to look down at the screen like you do now. Also it frees up the real estate on the main screen. But .. always cutting costs.

Not quite. ICE trucks don't suffer that much because the amount of fuel that goes into producing waste heat (~70%) doesn't change much. Only the amount of fuel that actually drives the wheels is affected. And "0.7 + 0.3 * 200%" (1.3 times the fuel use) is less than "1.0 * 200%" (2 times the fuel use)... And the longer refuelling time isn't that extreme. A charging stop takes about 30 to 40 minutes, while a stop for gas takes about 10 (if you take the time the car stands there and not just the time the nozzle is in and on). Add buying a snack and going to the restroom to the latter (both are quite common after driving a couple hundred miles), and the difference gets even smaller. With the Cybertruck, you're looking at a recharging stop while towing the worst possible trailer after 160 miles and then every 130 miles for the "I need a truck bed" version; or 210 miles and then every 180 miles for the "I mostly tow" version. Or 310/240 or 430/350 when not towing. And somewhere in between when towing a trailer with good aerodynamics. (Those numbers include that you don't want to empty the battery below ~10% to keep some reserve and that charging gets way slower above 80%, so you do it overnight at home but not while waiting.)

The structural concept is simular. The Ridgeline isn't a traditional "body of frame" like most trucks. Just like the Cybertruck.

Doors are made of Stainless if i saw it correct in Munros Video, the rest of the Body is Aluminum i think.

@@Hans-Yolo really? I saw it as well... but it did not say it was stainless. The die is aluminium. How can you stamp steel with aluminium?

@@DuarteMolha ye thats why sandy was so surprised and almost yelled like this is aluminum bronze? and you stamp stainless with it?

@@DuarteMolha the die is aluminum-bronze and they said it has low yields because of the softer material. But the door is entirely SS.

@@Rughead12319 The 48V motor can break through an inch of ice according to the engineer. Much better than breaking off your plastic flimsy door handles when they are iced over.

@@ElectricGlider2016 How many Cyber Trucks are going to be, “Iced over” after sitting outside while unplugged for days and, … still have the potential reserve to do 900+ miles because my Super Duty F/350 6.7 Power Stroke w/48 gal fuel reserve can, will & does this every winter with out fail.

Probably should have watched the Tesla training vids before you work on a customers car...

He’s wrapping the whole truck and detailing the inside and out before the customer receives it… why would it matter that he wear gloves before the work is done?
