Thanks Duncan. Great routes and super climbs in the Lakes. I would imagine it gets very congested with cars in the summer holidays so you would need to get out very early in the morning to have the freedom of the roads. Thanks Josh, I'm always pleased when someone appreciates my little pieces of humour...👍🏻 I think some of the roads were originally for horse and cart transport and will have been totally unsurfaced back then. With the extra width of today's cars I find it much more pleasurable to travel these narrow roads by bike. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching and commenting. All the best, Dave

Hi David, I'm 65 years old, retired and a pensioner. The YHA often have offers which I look out for, and then if I book for a group where we share rooms it can be quite economical. For example, this trip to the Lake District only cost each person £12 per night for the accommodation. We often car share to reduce costs, but if I am travelling by train I have a Senior Railcard which gives me a 33% reduction on rail costs. Good to hear you are biking in the Philippines. @@davidbenson735 - Wow thanks for your reply! I ride a Giant Fathom 29er with Shimano XT Gp set 1X12 setup, just perfect for the bad roads here. I have never been a roadie more a comuter, and never competitive. But here its my only transport - Love to get out in the sticks where all you can here is the sound of your tires and the birds and occasional dog - Stop every so often to chat with the locals as i pass through their villages - Occasional beer and or snack stop - Don't stop making videos, my only complaint is you make me a little home sick, thanks mucker!

Hi David, your bike and gearing sounds great. I love 1x setups, so simple and easy to maintain. Like you, I've never been competitive, I just love getting out on my bike in the countryside and appreciating nature whilst trying to keep reasonably fit. I've done more road cycling recently as a way of getting out with a group and enjoying the camaraderie of the fellow cyclists. We go out twice a week together and always have a cafe stop where we can have a good chat. All the best to you and I hope you continue enjoying your cycling for many years to come...🚴🏼
