In June 2021, I set off to cycle, paddle board, and hike the length of Scotland. It was a journey of 2 halves. The first half being the cycle and the paddle, which took me all the way from Lockerbie to Fort William. I then had to go home to work for a few weeks, and returned to Fort William in August 2021 to do the second half - the hike (Cape Wrath Trail)
This video documents the cycling section - a 185km route from Lockerbie to Inverkip, which actually ended up being extended by another 50km... as you'll see!
Unfortunately I lost quite a bit of video footage from this and the paddling section, due to corrupt SD cards. But I've cobbled together the footage that I managed to recover. I hope you enjoy it!

I admire you too for being so open about the times when you feel self doubt, a bit lonely, or whatever (I've been to all those places too!) I take my hat off to you. Fun to see you cycling up the hill out of Largs, one of my regular routes. The road you took over TO Largs looks like you must come through my home town (and that's not actually the route I'd choose, it's too damn busy). Nice video, interesting travels.

Always a good Sunday when there’s a Fit For Adventure video. Of the 3 parts of your Scottish triathlon, which would you say was the most mentally demanding and which was the most physically.

Glad it’s a treat not a trick for you 😂🎃 Paddle boarding, for both, without a doubt… I can tell by the fact I cried twice, once at the start as I was mentally doing backflips on hot coals, and once on the 3rd day I think it was because I was physically exhausted from a prolonged battle with a side wind. Both of which I’ve done by best to capture on camera ✌🏼

Definitely a treat, You and Haze Outdoors keep the outdoors fun and not too serious. I can only imagine how mentally stressful the paddle boarding was in that situation especially with some of the tidal races round that part, and being entirely self reliant. I remember paddling round an island in that part of the world years ago on an overnighter and it went from flat calm and glassy, to a 3foot side on wave and gale force winds. Thankfully the guide new a spot to pull in and we spent the day hidden under a cliff drinking whiskey.

Do the Hebridean Way - ferry from Ullapool to Stornoway then up to Butt of Lewis lighthouse and travel south through Lewis/Harris and the Uists and Barra. Stopping off to adventure the many absolutely stunning beaches on the way 😍

I don't have a fanny but I felt your pain! Finally glad to see the other 1/3 of your adventure. Still can't believe how far you cycled with that gear. As a teenager riding weekends I would do 80 miles max. With gear..30! But that was in the seventies! Lol. Love your channel. Cape Wrath for me next year!

Really glad I've been able to watch this before heading out today. Naturally, looking forward to the paddleboarding section. First thing I noticed was possibly a new bike? Was hoping you might've told us more about that. I've read on Instagram more recently that you're trying to carry less on your back. But it looks like you had a good 35 litres behind you. How did you find that?

It’s actually my old bike, my road bike that I’ve had since I did this adventure triathlon thing in Wales in 2018 (didn’t film that one). It’s difficult to pack a road bike, and this was my first ever attempt at packing any bike, and the biggest thing I learnt was that you want as little weight on your back as possible… hence the fanny issues here 😂 So take heed to avoid fanny (and the alternative) issues 😂

@@FitforAdventure Have you tried wearing padded shorts? They look and feel ridiculous (like a nappy) when you try to walk anywhere. But I've found they ease the discomfort on longer rides. Although I don't cover nearly the same distances as yourself.
