Cycling Scotland: The Lowlands | Bicycle Touring UK

After our wonderful stay in the 'Green Bothy' wilderness hut, we find another one on the map that peaks our interest. We find ourselves on an increasingly difficult path leading to the next hut and are not sure if we are going to make it… This part of Scotland, called 'The Lowlands', is pretty hilly if you ask us and we ride through open valleys and dense forests. Our tour in the UK is sadly coming to an end. But from here we fly to our next adventure destination. A mystical island we have long been dreaming about ⛰

I MUST comment. I've recently discovered these two beautiful intelligent poised adventurers. Oh, how I wish I could join them, and not just for their adventures. They impress me so much; I wish they were in my 80 yo world. BTW, how envious am I that I never found such a beautiful soulmate and partner in adventure. Such a calm loving relationship between these wonderful souls. I wish you both, and likeminded adventurers, the fulfillment of all your quests. Do NOT put it off. DO IT, as soon as you can. In later years, it's never about your $$$$. It's only about the people in your lives and the adventures you can share. Best Wishes to all...Live your lives with ideals and spiritual journeys/accomplishments. GET ON YOUR BIKES>

In 1982 I rode my bike from Frankfurt to Durness. However along the coast. Your way shows a completely different landscape. I would like to thank you for the many efforts you take through these remote paths to be able to take such fantastically special shots. It is a pleasure for me to watch your videos. They inspire me to think about the essentials, yes, your videos are something special, away from the main stream. And it doesn't matter when they were recorded. Could also be 5 years ago. They are timeless to see. Best regards Bernard

Just seen this clip as you end your UK trip. Again and again you produce the most ( and best) video clips. All BBC so natural and amusing. Informative too. A pity they are not longer but never having filmed on a tour I can only imagine it is very time consuming and hard work. But we’ll worth it to watch
@WheelstoWander
@WheelstoWander Год назад
Haha, that's quite a compliment. Though we don't feel we're even close to 'Planet Earth' type of shots... But we try 😋 We agree it would be better if they were a bit longer (especially this last one, we didn't have footage left), though we don't want to compromise on quality. We like to give a feeling / experience more so then a raw, less edited vlog... Frankly we don't enjoy ourselves talking about the same things (the weather, landscape, food etc) again and again so we try to keep that short and sweet. Maybe you have some suggestions, we're open to suggestions and feedback!

Hey there you two! As always, GREAT video! We have some downtime at the moment and are trying to catch up with some of our favorite travelers, as well as get caught up with our own videos! Cycle touring Scotland is/was one of our favorite places. Love the remoteness and ability to pretty much camp any where. The midges there are horrible! We're not so sure about that Marmite you're carrying, we never got the taste for it. Enjoy Iceland, that is a rough and hard place, but so so so beautiful! It's like no other place we've ever traveled too. Cheers and happy cycling! ~Ron & Petra
@WheelstoWander
@WheelstoWander Год назад
Haha, maybe it's because we don't eat meat but we do like the flavor of it and Marmite can help with that! We notice that we always have a new addiction in every country we travel... in the UK it was mostly Marmite and Cider (we could contain ourselves with the fudge this time)... ;-) Yes Iceland was rough... mainly because of the weather. But as always, it adds to the atmosphere & experience. What was your route through Iceland? Enjoy your downtime guys 💚

That was hard going. It was hilly because you were in the Southern Uplands for most of this video - the Lowlands are not all low! The bird was a snipe. I love hearing that sound at dusk or at night. It's not made with their voice, but by the air passing through their feathers as they descend through the air, and for some reason the sound is usually called 'drumming' in English. Nice to see the close-ups of nature like the slug and mushroom which are well observed in their own right, but also provide a contrast to a bike, rider and road. A really diverse collection of shots. Ethereal floating above by drone, on board in motion on the bike and up close and personal with the smaller things. Keep it up.

He was much younger and I think he also liked the nature (and no doubt the looks) of the Icelandic ladies 🙄 He was also interested in doing some voluntary work on an organic farm there. I think he wondered how they produced food there, the landscape being what it is. It was all poly-tunnels. Other things were the social life there, the fresh air, open spaces, the contrast of fire and ice and… the beer. Well, he was young and 😎 back then. He loved it.
