I’m currently cycling my 36 gallon bow front with guppies (yes I converted them to saltwater) and so far, so good. Its been 2 weeks now and things are going smoothly.
Note on the Ammonia and Nitrite test kits. Fine when you first start. Pay attention to the use by date if you use them again as it's likely to be several months after the initial cycle if you are anything like me.
What do you do when the ammonia is gone and you nitrites skyrocket. How do you get nitrites under control or do you just wait for the nitries to go down or do you add Dr. Tims ammonia chloride if you don't add fish. It's confusing as hell and most RU-vid videos don't really help because most all have different remedies.
You don't do anything. you wait for the nitrites to go down, then you will get nitrates. If that gets high, you then do water changes to bring down the nitrates...You likely figured that out by now though;)
@@Rawrxdlol79 he said BEFORE adding it to the tank. There won’t be ammonia, nitrate and nitrite in that water. @miguel, you should check your salinity and TDS before adding it to your tank for your first fill and when doing a water change.
