Hi It's Sam Kelly (Cymande original drummer). My cousin, Derrick Gibbs (Cymande original sax man) let me know about your show. Really enjoyed it. Thanks for checking out Cymande. Thought your analysis was on point and you had obviously done your homework. Whilst Patrick Patterson and Steve Scipio went into the legal profession, I continued on as a professional musician - been drumming now for more than 40 years. Keep up the good work.

I was expecting something in a French patois, bu then the Rasta imagery in English kicked in. As well as sea, sun, sand and cold drink, I wanted something smokable of a size (but not necessarily leaf) which Winston Churchill would have approved. And for the song to go on longer. Good 2022 interview with Alex Rose in The Guardian. There are unsubstantiated rumours that they recorded two Peel Sessions.
