Awwhh!! HI Sandie 🥰💐thank you and thank you for also watching this video!! She turned out better than I had expected when I picked her up from the rescue table! I did not know what to expect, but yes... she is beautiful! I love the soft pink and white 😍
Hi Ingrid 😍💐 thank YOU so much for taking the time to watch this video, Ingrid! You are always so kind, thank you! Have yourself a beautiful and safe day as well 🌹
Hi Valarie 😍💐 gonna have ourselves some beach ball buds soon 🙌🏼😅 anything that resembles beach, I'll take it this time of year 👍🏼 thank you so much for watching, Valarie!! ❤️🌸
😍Hi Cheryl 💐 she is pretty... well, maybe I should say, she was pretty because I neglected her badly since February. She had grow so big, broke her pot and with my physical challenges I kept putting her off when it came to repotting. Then she got major sunburn which turned her structures and leaves into oregano... sooo... when I clean out the pot, because I want my leca, I may have lost this orchid just because I did not care for her 🫣 the walk of shame happens daily! Thank you, though, for watching this video 🫶🏼 wishing you a fabulous day ❤️🌸
Hello you lovely orchid lovers! 😍💐 and I would have more of them, IF I had a space for them when the conditions get warm and tough for them. That is why I only have one at this point. I saw a mini one in the garden centre a while ago, called White Cascade, and was sooo tempted to buy it, but, there isn't a budget for orchids, so, I walked away. They are beautiful 😍 thank you so much for coming over and having a look see at my video! 🙏🏼 I shall get to your video, forgive me for the delay 🌹
@@NinjaOrchids oh I love the white cascade, but they used to be so expensive! Now I think their pricing is better, but for now we have no budget for orchids either, so maybe later 🙂
I would really like one of these, especially if the blooms look like yours 😍 Unfortunately I can’t seem to find many and the ones I find are usually yellow which isn’t bad, just not what I want. Maybe one day I will find one, until then I will just admire yours.
Danielle ❤️🙌🏼❤️😍💐my fellow orchid lover friend! What a treat to see you again 🙏🏼 I was expecting yellow blooms because that is all I ever saw at my garden centre where I bought her, so when she bloomed in these soft pink and white colors, I was enchanted! She really has a beautiful delicate nature about her, which I find very appealing. And medium size, that is not too bad. The yellow ones are pretty, and if she had bloomed out in yellow, I would not have been disappointed, but this.... oh yes, I would have chosen her above a yellow. I will definitely feature her again when she is in bloom! Have to!! Once a year... so yeah! The fact that she is giving me 3 spikes after the lack of fertilizer last year, that is a wonderful blessing. Thank you, Danielle, for watching ❤️🙏🏼 wishing you a relaxing evening, warm and toasty with maybe some hot chocolate and marshmallows 😋🥰
Cymbidiyum buds reminds me of paddy before harvesting in our paddy fields in my childhood days. An orchid never heard of till Ninja orchids video now, look forward to see her in bloom in subscribers inspire series soon.
Jose 🙌🏼🤸🏼♀️🤩💐 so nice of you to stop by! Thank you!! yes... you are right! There is a similarity there for sure 👍🏼 when she blooms out... there will be many names that I can address in Subscribers Inspire, and I am soooo looking forward to it 🙌🏼 hope you have yourself a fabulous Thursday, Jose!! Thank you so much for your support, my friend 🙏🏼🌸
HI Brea 🥰💐 yep! I like her a lot! For not knowing what her color would be and then getting this soft pink and white combo... I would have bought her for these colors if I had seen her in bloom in the garden centre. Nice to see the chubby buds again 🤩 and it is nice to see you here as well!! Thank you so much, Brea ❤️🌸 have a lovely evening 🌸
🌸🥷🏼Trish San 🥰😍❤️💐 meine Freundin!! YOU so much for being here, and for your friendship, 🌸🥷🏼 it means so very much to me to be able to consider you a friend 😘😘
I wish I could grow the big floofy bloom Cyms here but I know they would rarely, if ever, bloom. I just look at them on other people's channels, much like any cool growing orchid, and go about my business. I really like yours, it isn't an in your face pink but it isn't colorless, it fits nicely in the middle. So this time tomorrow my Ecuagenera order should have arrived and been sorted out. One maxima in honor of my friend Nina, one Pridgeonia insignis for me, and a couple of other hitchhikers. And Thursday my Northern Spy apples should be here. I'm ashamed at what I paid for them but, for some reason, my dad has been going on and on about how his grandfather would buy bushels of them and how good they were. I don't know if it was a hint, but I took it as such. If I had more room in the refrigerator, I'd have bought a bushel because it would have been more economical. But if you have nowhere to store them and they rot, you don't save anything.
Don Miguel 🥰💐 hola jefe! I was very pleasantly surprised when she bloomed out in this soft pink / white combination! I was expecting yellow and then, to get this... yep!! that'll do me nicely 👍🏼 you got yourself a maxima 🙌🏼🤸🏼♀️🙌🏼❤️🙏🏼yay!!! Them hitchhikers, hey?? My dad used have problems with stowaways on his ship, but they were not that welcome... whereas orchid hitchhikers!! Gotta love those 😅 You are going to surprise your dad with something super special and that is what counts!! If, the next time you want to buy bushels, and then be prepared to make compot, or do some canning? Make jellies, with the excess? Apple pie for the freezer? 🤪 don't hate me! Not giving you any ideas here 😅 I used to do that with apricots! My goodness... I used to buy fresh apricots, when in season and then get to work to make sure that I got everything processed or eaten up before they rotted! I love apricot jam... pies, fillings, chutneys... apricot anything 🤪 but I don't buy them in the store anymore because they have the grainy texture now. Back in the day.... I went to apricot farms and filled my car with boxes and boxes! It was a whole thing. If I had more space after I was done processing everything, I would go back for more! I had bags and bags of cubed apricots for smoothies... ice cream, sorbet... and a sore tummy because I was snacking throughout all the cooking 😂😂 anyway... a thought for maybe more Northern Spy apples 😉 and now... I am running out of the room, just in case this comment was 'too much'! 😂😂 (p.s.: I also made my own apricot liqor 😉) and I'm out! 😂😂 thank you so much for watching, Michael!! Hope your goodies have arrived safe and sound 😘🌸
@@NinjaOrchids I don't really do canning/jarring. If I did, I'd make applesauce and apple butter. I love apple anything, but there's only so much two people can eat. I'll make a kuchen after they arrive and that will take us four days to eat.
@@michaelmccarthy4077 thats true .... mmmhhhh Kuchen 👍🏼👍🏼 apfelstrudel .... yum!! Apple butter 🙌🏼 yep, I am all for that as well. Now you got ME started 🤣
That plant is absolutely beautiful they grow so big I wouldn’t have room in my place to grow one like that but never mind I can visit to watch yours instead thanks for the lovely video today very interesting what sort of plants there is out there gorgeous🥰❤️👍
HI Andrea 😍💐 they do grow big, and this is a medium size one! I also would have more if I had space that was a little more protected on my patio when the weather gets hot and dry, but... its best to not get carried away 😬 sometimes we need the chairs and then where do the orchids go? 😂 thank you so much for watching, Andrea! Hope you had yourself a beautiful day 🌸
Thank YOU, Nita, for also watching this video 🙏🏼you are so kind to watch my videos, and I cannot express just how much I appreciate that 🙏🏼 also, your comments are always so kind and uplifting! They mean a lot ❤️ hope your day was beautiful ❤️🌸

@@NinjaOrchids Hi dear Nina, Many many thanks for your precious answer.💝Thank you for sharing your valuable knowledge with us. I learned the ABC of growing orchids here in your channel and now it looks like the puzzle pieces are coming together. You are the one who made me realized how important is flushing. Thanks again.💝Have a beautiful evening.🌺
🦒❤️💐What a beautiful plant!! I love it when the buds get chubby like that. Lovely blooms coming up !!! I like the way you let your spikes go pending but I do not have enough space to let my spikes do it. Phoenix's tail would break them in no time 😜My daughter don't stake her's either and I love it. When your plant fills in the pot, if you let her, it will be quite a show. Have a nice productive day amiga mia❤️😍🤗
FFF 🙌🏼🤸🏼♀️🥰😍💐 meine liebe Freundin!! How time flies 😱 thank you so much for your patience!! The chubbiness of the buds, and their glossiness.... it really is so beautiful 👍🏼 it was so windy again today, I kept checking to see how they are holding on, maybe some are being blown off 😬 we are ok though! She will look funny, unless something grows from the centre to cover the bald spot 😂 starting to look like a monk! 😂😂 the unpotting in 2025 should be interesting 😅 I can start a fitness regime now and build up strength to get ready for it. Thank you so much for watching, amiga!! Really appreciate your time and your participation ❤️ hope you had a beautiful sparkling day 🌸
HI Stephen 😍💐 thank you, once again for your kind comment / feedback 🙏🏼I am happy that she bloomed in this color combination. My garden centre always has yellow ones, so, that is what I was expecting... this color combo is soft and cool, I love it! Thank you, Stephen, for watching 🥰 hope you had a wonderful day 🌸
Hi Nina, your cymbidium is beautiful, I am jealous !! I have a young (12 months old) cymbidium golden elf which hasn’t flowered yet, but it’s doing well. I will give it the cold treatment as soon as spring comes around. This morning was minus 26C. Thanks Nina.
HI Andre 🤩💐 for a rescue, not knowing what her blooms would be like, I am well pleased, Andre! I truly liked the color when I saw her bloom for the first time 👍🏼you can keep your's out for as long as possible through the fall as well, Andre! Remember that 👍🏼👍🏼 know that at 12 months, she may not bloom for another year or so, but, might as well get her used to what is expected of her. Your temperatures scare me! That is just insane, Andre 😱stay warm!! Thank you so much for watching 🌸
Finally have a chance to watch this. I remember this bloom. Such nice pink one. It’s cool to have all 3 spikes budding up at the same time! I have one of the warm tolerant ones in spike and a no ID big one on the third spike in this season.
HI Yoshi 🤩💐I am behind on watching the other videos as well! I have been going nuts with things here 🙄 I will add you to the CareCollab list, Yoshi! For next time 👍🏼thank you for giving me the heads up! I hope that your cymbidiums are fragrant 😉😄thank you for coming over and taking the time to watch my video!! I will get to you asap! 🌸
I’m not sure that I’ll get much of a showing on any of my 4 Cyms this year, we just haven’t had the night time temp drops they need to set spikes. I only had one spike on one plant last season, very disappointing. Anyway, at least they are being fertilised now and that makes a change. I look forward to watching the other videos and hope to glean a few more tips on how to get these plants to flower.
Hi Renate 😍💐 I think that you possibly got a great tip from Fernanda Nascimento with the cold water watering tip during the summer! I do not need to go down that route because my climate does the work for me, but... I would highly recommend watering with very very cold water. That should make a difference. Thank you so much for watching my video, Renate!! I wish you a beautiful Thursday, lovely lady ❤️🌸
I don’t have any Cymbidiums and yet I’m still here hahaha !! Your videos are always such a pleasure to watch :) I’m watering my angraecums and aerangis while I watch ! Happy growing Nina !
Samuel 🤩hi!! Goodness!! It is good to see you again! Thank you so much for your sweet comment 😍 I love the fact that you still watched my video, even though you don't have any 🙏🏼 i do that a lot too... I cannot grow many orchids, but still watch videos on them, just because it is nice to see other beauties 👍🏼 hope your angraecums and aerangis are doing well for you and that some may be in spike? 🤞🏼 wishing you a great evening, Samuel!! 🌸
@@NinjaOrchids They’re doing great! I live in a warm climate and grow indoors with a humidifier so I’m lucky enough that the angraecoid orchids tend to do well for me ! My Angrcm. didieri and elephantium are in spike ! So is my Aerngs. fastuosa! I’m sort of considering posting my first videos ever on those blooms once they come, what do you think? Cheers !
You have to email me, Samuel!! If you want to do videos... you have to email me ninjaorchids@gmail.com .... my didieri is in spike (don't know if the spikes will bloom out but hey, she is trying again) and so is my fastuosa, and ... well, there are CareCollabs on these orchids, so.... let me know if you are interested! Send me a list of your collection, let me get you on the database and then... honestly, no pressure, but, if you are interested, the offer is there! You know the drill 👍🏼👍🏼
That is a stunning Cymbidium, if I am not mistaken I do recall you have another Cymbidium with a very soft sweet pink? Am I correct? I bought the same in my regular supermarket can you imagine. It did so well it had 4 spikes because I left it outside last year. I got it inside when the buds where about to open in December. What a beautiful sight it was but because my temperature in the house was considerably warmer the blooms were spent really fast. But I was so happy because it was my best bloomer in a year, after I was away from home a lot. Love the video Nina 💜
Rita!! 🤩🤩💐this was your request from a year ago!! I am so sorry that I did not mention your name in this video, as the one to have requested it! My brain was not functioning due to my illness, when I filmed this video, I am so sorry! I hope that you saw your comment was included at the opening of the video 🙏🏼This is the only cymbidium I have, and she is very soft white with hues of pink. I am glad that I have 3 spikes this year, considering the drama with water during the summer last year 🙄 this makes me happy! And I am so glad that you had time to watch this video. Once again, I am sorry for not having mentioned you 🙏🏼have a beautiful weekend, Rita! ❤️🌸
😅HI Ynse! 💐 I wonder, if most orchids would do better under that care principle? 😂 or... maybe it is because of the time of year that I am just a little lazy and really not inspired to CARE! 😬 thank you so much for watching, Ynse, and for taking part! 🥰🌸
@@NinjaOrchids I'm not that fussy about care. At the moment I water once a week and there's not one plant that isn't pushing out new growths so there is something to be said for "neglect" 😁
Hi Todd 😍💐 I have been watching that weather report you guys have going on .... 😱 dang!! Those a N'ern Europe temps! I keep thinking of the tourists that flock to FL to escape their winter climates, and then they get these conditions! I bet they are pretty annoyed 😅 thank you so much for watching, Todd!! I am so behind... filming and uploading takes precedent while there is some form of daylight. The weather has been terrible here for the past 10 days, so I am on weather break watch and when I get one... I am out yapping away to get some footage 😂 thank you for joining in! I will definitely take some time in the am with kahawa to watch your video! Miss being able to watch all your videos, maybe I need to work on my time management 👎🏼 stay warm!! Hold Elvis 👍🏼👍🏼 🌸
Hi Mary 😍💐 11:32 is the timestamp where I cover the pest issue, and yes, I have had a little here and there! Last year, though... the ants brought the aphids, and that was so very unusual! A first!! We shall see what happens this time around. I am watching closely! So far, the ants are not active, so maybe there is hope for an extended show when the buds bloom out 🤞🏼Thank YOU so much for watching, Mary! I hope that you are doing well!! 🙏🏼 have a lovely evening ❤️🌸
HI! 🤩💐 welcome!! I have not seen you here before, so a warm warm welcome, and thank you so much for being here, for watching and your positive feedback. I really appreciate it! If you can find any 2nd generation ensifolium or tracyanum hybrids the fragrances increase in potency. If you get the species directly, then the fragrance is immediately available, however, the downside with fragrant cymbidiums is that the bloom duration is shorter, as there is a lot of energy going into the blooms exuding their fragrance. Also, while I love the blooms of species cymbidiums, they are not as 'in your face' as is the complex hybrids you see in garden centres or even in flower shops. Cym. Yellow Candy has Golden Elf as a parent and it seems to be a reoccurring theme that any Cym. that has Golden Elf as a parent has a fragrance. The strength increases when the hybrids cycle through the first generation. Cymbidium Elf 'Stardust for example, is a first generation hybrid, it has a rose fragrance but it is not strong. For a more detailed breakdown of what I am trying to say as best as possible, here is a link about the ensifolium and its hybrids, which could also be fragrant www.sdorchids.com/articles/cym_ens_article.htm I sincerely hope this helps. And once again, welcome! Thank you for watching 🥰🌸
Still catching up on all your videos. So if you have covered it, ignore my comment. Wondering if you used not porous materials as a top layer to prevent moisture loss to the environment. Please if you have covered it please send the link. Thanks also another great video!!
Hi Debbie 😍💐 I have covered that option in passing in some of my videos, but not specifically. I only ever brought it up when I spoke about my dry top layer etc etc. I have not done it because back then I did not have access to small pebbles. I contacted some construction companies if I could purchase a small amount, a bucket full, as an eg, and they kinda said that I they only sell in huge bulk 😆 but, a couple of years ago, a new playground went up close to me, and they have fine gravel there which is not round (not that that matters) so I went and scooped up a few plastic bags of it 🫣😂 I have not applied it on top layers, but now I have the option if I so choose to in some of the pots where every root counts. Still have not done it yet though, so, thank you for the reminder 👍🏼 I am in the habit of misting the surface of my pots and it is always good to have new eyes to remind me to get out of my bubble. 🫶🏼 thank you so much for the feedback on this video, and thank you so much for catching up on other videos. I appreciate your time and support 🙏🏼 have yourself a wonderful start to the new week, Debbie 🫶🏼❤️🌸
Nina! Hello~ I'm currently here because i'm looking for videos in regards with pumice and lava rocks for cymbidium. i have a cymbidium golden elf that I grew from a single rootless teeny tiny pseudo bulb given to me last 2020. It grew into a big specimen, But right now it suffered with rot, root rot specifically and also affected one bulb. So I unpotted it and sadly there's only 1-2 roots and it divided into two plants now. Currently dunked into a diluted solution of water and Hydrogen peroxide 3% / 10 volumes. Gonna get it out later and dry it and seal the open cuts with super glue. I'll order small pumice later and hope for the best 😩.
HI 😍💐 so... first of all, I am sorry that your cymbidium went downhill! It can happen.... mine will be going downhill very soon when I am done with it 😬🔪 what you need to consider is that, positive thinking... your cymbidium is going to recover and grow well again in lava rock BUT, when it comes time to repot again,.... its going to be carnage! Because, lava rock is NOT forgiving on any root system because of it's structure. There is always damage to a root system when repotting with lava rock, add to that that cymbidiums are vigorous root growers when they get going, its an monumental though to picture when thinking ahead, what the challenges would be. Ask yourself, why did your roots rot? If you can answer that question, then I maybe can help you with possibly using pumice instead (which will cause some damage on a future repot, but possibly less. I cannot speak to that because I have never done it with a cymbidium, but the structure of pumice and behavior of orchid roots, brings me to the conclusion that the damage will also be substantial when using pumice) I am working on a video that is going into the comparison of pumice vs. leca but have not gotten around to editing it yet. However, ask away and we can troubleshoot here 🫶🏼 thank you so much for watching!! Hope your day was wonderful, despite the cymbidium situation 🫶🏼❤️🌸
@@NinjaOrchids Hello Nina! Thanks so much! So yeah, rainy season came, and there's a lack of warmth and sunlight. And also, even if I didn't water it since the rainy season, the moisture in the air managed to get in the media and wet it, paired with lack of sunlight and drying factors from the sun and wind, it didn't dry up and well... this is what i'm left with! hehehe planning to pot one in 80% pumice with 20% lava rocks and the other in a mix of soil, perlite and pumice!
@@NinjaOrchids Hello Nina! So my pumice stones arrived now, and I have decided to mix some potting soil as well with the pumice so that it will lessen the possible damage to the roots in the future If I have to repot it! Thank you so much for the advice and tips! I really really appreciate you! 🤗💚
It also helps if one does not screw up them. 🤭🤭 Mine is still recovering from me trying to learn how to keep these alive. Yes. I have killed one Cymbidium, it's friend is hanging in there.
🌸🥷🏼 H!! 🤩💐 ok... first of all, I am going to have to apologize!! It slipped my mind to send you an email and ask you 😱🙆🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ I feel really bad! I am so sorry! I have since added you to the list, for future updates, and please... if you want to feature your's in a CareCollab, email me if there is any activity that you would like to showcase. Hi, I live in Turkey, summers are hot and humid, winters are cold and dry. Do you think it would be okay if I planted only Lecat in this climate? I saw bugs in the soil of my cymbidiums and it irritated me. They are on the balcony now but I don't want to bring insect-infested soil into the house when I have to take them inside in the winter. Do you think it would be okay if I planted only Lecata? Plus all my palls are planted on lecat and they are happy 😊
Hi 😍💐 welcome! I have not seen you here before, so first of all, a warm warm welcome and secondly, thank you for being here, for watching and your comment! Great soccer team you support 🙌🏼👍🏼 I used to be in Bodrum a lot ... I know, it is far away but, I am so familiar with Turkey and absolutely love seeing you here! It brings back great memories! You are absolutely able to grow cymbidiums in leca, yes! Mine completely decimated this year, because it had grown so large, I could not physically deal with it anymore. So, if you see another video where my cymbidium looks dead, that is not because of the leca, it is just because it grew so large and the weight was to much for me to care for it properly. So, know that, your cymbidiums are going to do very well in leca 👍🏼 really pleased to hear that your phals are doing great in leca! That is awesome 🙌🏼 let me know, if you have any questions as you change your orchids and if you have any doubts. No matter the video, it does not have to be this one.... any questions, at any time, I would be happy to help. Wishing you a great start to the new week and once again, welcome 🫶🏼❤️🌸
