So true. And sometimes the lack of massive airplay is a blessing in disguise that saves the song from overexposure. This song (and album) are Cindi Lauper at her absolute best.
Cyndi's ballads stab me time and time again in my heart. My eyes cry like a river and my heart bleeds like the deepest cut in my veins. Heading West is my favourite Cyndi Lauper single and I can't believe it barely charted. It's simply beyond sublime and I love the video as well +
This really is beautiful! This combines Cyndi's uniqueness as a artist, interpreter, lyricist, singer, performer...Just perfect👌. Underrated masterpiece! 👏🔥💗
Yep. One of the best things she ever recorded. Sadly the album tanked as it just wasn’t what the market was looking for at the time. Lauper refers to it as “A Night To Forget”, which is a shame as I think it may be her strongest album musically. “She’s So Unusual” has the best individual standout songs, but it’s a bit of a patchwork album.
Listened to Cyndi Lauper as a teenager growing up in in Northern Ireland! Now live in her ole digs ..Forest Hills, Queens! City madness or/and tranquility...oh and autumn colors are shining through ;)
This song has suddenly appeared in my mind in one of my blue moments. I'm like a letter with no address. Thanks Cyndi: you've never let me down, since 1984
I've listened to this song several times today, words saying how I'm feeling about taking a chance, moving to somewhere new to find yourself for your own good, even if it doesn't work you'll get back up again.
This song brings me something I can’t explain since I’ve heard it for the first time as a kid! It takes me all! It’s such a touching soft powerful ballad!
Cyndi's lyrics have always been a balm to my soul. Whenever I'm down in the dumps I listen to this song and that sentence "I'm gonna back up again" definitely lights up my pathways....
@@prophetmadonna3744 other at least equally great songs on the album: My First Night Without You, A Night To Remember ..... and of course I Drove All Night ...
Très jolie mélodie, qui se retient facilement... Servie par une voix hors normes, sublime... Cyndi Lauper, quel personnage haut en couleurs ! C'est le cas de le dire !!
I love it as well !!! I just adore this song!! One of the most beautiful songs and lyrics I have heeard...and her voice and style is unique, there is only one Cindy Lauper!! She is too complex, surrealist, deep for the american audience!!!
Hi Cyndi Lauper, So happy to meet you. I love your 80's songs since my childhood in 80's. Your 80's songs are still the best to listen. I love supporting you Cyndi
Love to you Cyndi Lauper. I saw your Orlando 2016 show with my grandaughter. So many awful things happened in the following weeks and months. Your show was my candle in all the darkness. Thank you !
This song reminds me of going on holiday down to Cornwall in the U.K. with my family. My dad had a couple of your albums on cassette and we used to listen to them on the way down. I still listen to it today along with the rest of the songs on your “She’s So Unusual” and “A Night To Remember” albums.
I remember an interview for Rock Cafè: "I think it’s the most beautiful song of my albums to date". I would add at least another 10 only of the first albums but still today... a great masterpiece ("the altitude of freedom....")👌
I headed South. That did it for me. I'm relieved I did. Also dumbfounded it worked out just fine. You can always visit your birthplace. That is "Good Enough!" for me now. Memories have no direction, they stand still, strong & warm within your heart. Love to you and yours and as always, thank you Ms Lauper; my sincerest thanks to you. You lift my spirits every single time (Along with the other brilliant musical people; who have always found room in my heart.) Astonishingly music and memories do not ever leave us. They are one within us and make us who we are. The heart beat of our mother's when we are in the womb must be the key. Well that's just my opinion. I kinda like it! Jan & menagerie xxx
