My music streamer keeps suggesting Kate Bush and "similar artists"... Like who, exactly? There is not, and never has been, an artist like Kate. I was 25 when I first heard this, and I was in love.
That's right, Kate is incomparable. The only artist I can think of who is nearly as artful and musically complex is Tori Amos. She was my "Kate Bush of the 1990s", if you like.
@@greebo5294 You're absolutely right, Tori *is* bitter and angry. Because of her story. It touches me very differently than Kate. But it's comparably expressive and complex to my ears.
There is one and will only ever be one Kate Bush, I wish I'd seen her live back in the day, but she is truly a one off, there will never be another like her.
1979, I was 12 years old and stood in a shopping outlet in Perth, Australia when I first heard this song. Been a huge fan ever since then. Still the best female singer/songwriter ever.
If you listen to the track used in the video, she's almost note perfect live with the difference being she's moving and singing at the same time, and the effort is emense, but beautiful at the same time. Thank you Kate for all your music
Thank you so much for sharing this. The most magical bit for me is the at the very ebnd when all the amazing performers come back on stage to take a bow. So many of them no longer with us. RIP Gary Hurst, Alan Murphy, Liz Pearson and Del Palmer, gone to that great gig in the sky.
Did you notice who was in the front of the audience at 5:12 ? If you were a fan of coronation street you might recognise him his name is Chris Quentin and he played Brian Tilsley from 1978-1989. A little useless bit of info for you there. 😂
Did you notice who was in the front of the audience at 5:12 ? If you remember coronation street it’s the guy who played a character called Brian Tilsley and he first appeared in Corrie in 1978 as well. Fancy a Corrie character turning up in the Manchester Apollo eh, it was only round the corner from where they filmed Coronation street. 😂
I LOVE Kate Bush and to sing this song which is my favourite!..ParticuIarly, after reading the famous classic novel, "Wuthering Heights,'" and watching the original b&w film...:-)
We are of the same age and I admire her from the first time I’ve heard her singing on the radio and I still do. I never had the opportunity to see her perform live, but she gave me company throughout my whole live ever since, where ever I was. I’d like to thank you Kate, with the most respect.
Yesterday I was driving my auto to my joband this song sounded in the radio. It brought me back in time. I was 13 or 14 years old when released (I think the LP was "the kick inside"). The most surprising fact is, that it sounds today absolutely actual and fresh. Thank you David Gilmour to help this amazing artist to emerge!
5:12 isn’t that the dude who used to play Brian Tilsley in coronation street? If not it’s his doppelgänger. 😂 Anyway Kate is so wonderful and what a performance. Edit: I’ve just seen that this performance was at the Manchester Apollo so it’s got to be him. His real name is Chris Quentin.
