I would like to point out that she got a MASSIVE standing ovation after this. Like she barely finished that last line and everyone, every last person in that room, was on their feet. It was an incredible moment. She was standing there looking like a true queen.
@@alwaysbam she definitely was robbed I don’t even remember what song from rocket man was nominated which is saying something cause I loved that movie.
@@Ameliamaemay1990 not everything needs to be a debate. Whether a song has at least 2 writers (or more), she didn't write nor was apart of the process by herself
@@TheCutiepie2004 she didn’t do it herself but I suppose if you think everything doesn’t need to be a debate why did you feel the need to correct the op? They aren’t lying.
Agreed! Just a brilliant way to end a song from the perspective of Harriet Tubman. Such a beautiful choice and how it ends in a haunting tone rather than some “feel good” vibe really speaks to the struggle. It’s just a masterpiece.
Fun fact- the last lines in this song, "I go to prepare a place for you", were actually Harriet Tubman's last words. I think it's a very beautiful tribute.
I actually think Cynthia has THE perfect voice. I remember how stunned I was the first time I heard her, and just had to gather every recording to save to my music library 😂 I’d love to see you do more reactions to her! I’m hoping Voctave do some more Disney medleys for you to react to again as well 😆
She is currently my favourite. I haven't heard her sing anything that sounded anything but amazing imo. She's stunning. Also, I love how she performs with mostly her eyes while singing. It's subtle and so effective.
Omg, SAME! First time I heard her was on the movie Beyond the Lights with "Fly Before Fall" and her voice absolutely took my breath away. I had to know who she was!
Cynthia and Shoshana Bean singing a duet of "there can be miracles" from the prince of egypt. They filmed it during lockdown last year so they're not even in the same space but it's just fabulous
As a person who hasn't sung in a looong time. This performance fills me with so much inspiration, awe, a bit of jealousy (let's keep it real), and a big huge smile.
I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but Hannah wears puff sleeves on like every shirt and I am LIVING for it. This lady can pull off puff sleeves like no one else
I can’t believe I’ve lived 26 years without listening to this amazing goddess. I’m so moved by her voice, her performance and THIS song OMG. Amazing!!!!! Thanks for this video. I’m so glad I bumped into your channel!!
@Cynthia Erivo Please write anytime. I am going back to watch your Aretha Franklin for TV. There were many many many times because of your voice and your acting within it, I forgot it was not Aretha. Wonderful to taken there by you. Thank you.
I love how in all the reactions I've watched, people are literally obsessing over her low notes and talking about how LOW they are and then there's me, a 17 yo alto singer that sings on those low keys on a norm😂😂🤚🏾
I'm 17 and I'm an Alto too. I love love love singing low rather than taking higher notes. People call me a lazy singer because of that. But I just love singing low😂
I 100% squealed with joy when I saw that!! Imagine her voice on Defying Gravity!!!???? I cannot wait either. And her acting? Omg. I'm gonna sob watching it already know.
And if you are a singer.. can we mention how difficult it is to switch from a minor key to a major key within the same line of the song.. then switch back and forth between the minor and major scales.. within the mixing of her head chest and throat voice.. just beyond amazing
This is a very big song. The opening always gets me every time she fills the stage. All you are aware of is her presence. Then the precision of her voice, even though it is soft, just draws you in almost physically. Then you are trapped and along for the ride. She knows precisely how to push her voice to the limits . I have heard all her songs, live recordings, and studio and I have never heard her waste a note. Every note, word, and her body language makes it living. The first video I saw of Cynthia was a song "Anything worth holding onto" with Scott Allan l. After that song I was hooked for life. If there was only 1 voice, I had to hear for the rest of my life (I hope that never happens, so many great artists) it would be Cynthia Erivo.
This woman can sing so low and high and this song rlly shows it. It's my favourite song to sing in the car with her, even tho I can't reach everything. Could you react to Aurora? She is one of my favourite singers right now, not only her voice, but also her character 💞
I fell in love with her voice before I saw her face or knew anything about her. When the Hugh Jackman video of "From Now On" was going viral, the one where he talks about having surgery the day before the big performance to get the movie "The Greatest Showman" greenlit. He couldn't sing, but they had a stand in (Jeremy Jordan, I think). At the four minute mark a voice cuts through the chorus. The camera pans through this rehearsal looking room to a gorgeous woman standing on a box singing her face off. I made a private deal with God. If I have to come back again, I want her voice and her body. It was another year before I figured out who she was. CYNTHIA ERIVO 👑
Oh man you should react to Cynthia Erivo and Shoshana Bean singing “I did something bad” Live at the Apollo or “with a little help from my friends” live at the Apollo
I'm not sure if you've seen it already, but if not, I definitely think you should react to Shoshana Bean and Cynthia Erivo's cover of "I did something bad"
Her performance gave me the chills down my spine. I heard of her only of this song. She is beyond amazing and beautiful. She is gorgeous in general like wow. Speechless of her performance.
Finally someone talking about the last line. I know the whole performance is absolutely stunning but that last line sits so pretty I can’t even!!! Ugh so good!!!
Please do more cynthia erivo reactions! She's simply incomparable A performance thats really amazing of hers is her singing "imagine" at (I believe) the 2017 glaad awards. And another wonderful performance is a duet she did with shoshana bean. They did a cover of Taylor Swifts "i did something bad" and it is incredible. The live version in particular is everything.
Okay, okay, okay. This is a must for Cynthia Erivo reactions: the video(s) of her doing the sing anything challenge on the RU-vid channel TERRELL are divine. He weeps almost as much as you in the video
Hannah, you need to watch the movie Harriet! Whether you react to it on your channel or not… Her performance is freaking stunning! So poignant and powerful… She only sings a little bit, but it’s incredible.
If I could wish anything for you, it would be for you to see Cynthia LIVE. I sat in the front of the theater for The Color Purple, and she melted my face with I Am Here!
Yessss to everyone asking for a reaction to Cynthia Erivo & Shoshana Bean singing "I Did Something Bad". Their music video together is badass, but I'd LOOOVE to see you react to their Live at the Apollo version (where you can really see them interact w each other and play off each other)....it's ICONIC! 🙌😍
...Lol Shoshana (hilariously) flubs a line a bit in the middle at the Apollo - prob bc she's entranced by Cynthia, like the rest of us - but the whole thing is so fun, and their vocals are naaasty, as ever, in the best way! :) Their live "A Little Help From My Friends" at the Apollo is a banger, too...just can't go wrong with that pair!
Also, she did a song association with another RU-vidr on his channel, Terrell. She does many genres and it just makes you angry. Talk about her knowing her voice!!! This was my introduction to Cynthia and I keep going back to watch it over and over again. And I love Terrell but those are the episodes I keep going back to.
i actually watched this performance like a lot of times. but something about a reaction video make u notice things and appreciate things that you didn't before. Cynthia literally stood there and made all of those notes without even trying. She didn't move from her spot throughout the entire performance and that is soooo impressive. her voice is literally so powerful and beautiful.
Without a doubt, the most powerful performance I have every witnessed. She exudes confidence, stardom , and genius with her tallent and skills. I am appauld Cynthia Erivo did not get the Oscar for this. I cry everytime I hear this song and think about Harriett Tubman and her struggles through life! Cynthia performed this song with perfection and dignity! This performance and portrayal is one of the most brillant pieces published on the screen!
All of her music is amazing but one song of hers in particular always makes me cry, It's called "You're not here" and if you listen to it you actually have to incision what she is saying.
I refuse to believe she is mortal. The woman is a Queen, a Goddess, an absolute Blessing that this world does not deserve but thank goodness she has blessed us anyways.
this is one of my favorite videos of all time, cynthia singing is a gift for all of us, i hoped so much for her to win the oscars this year and become the youngest EGOT :(
7 minutes in I got goose bumps. Like I heard the start of the song and wanted to sing along and then about 50 seconds into the song I realise I cannot sing along
i tried singing the song with her voice in the background. lemme say, as an alto, that was probably the best time i had tryna sing high notes and almost succeeded. woah
