They have the bucks ...... and be objective, without context as a first hearing it is dull if you are being asked to invest .. BUT taken as a whole different story
Every time I watch this, the guy in blue blazer behind Cynthia cracks me up - you can tell he just wants to flip his shit at her vocals in an environment where it's pretty much forbidden to
haha yes he's like physically restraining himself with the crossed legs, crossed arms, fingers in front of his mouth lol.... *don't sing, don't yell, don't dance, c'mon man, you can do this!*
Whenever Cynthia opens her mouth it’s like my soul just jumps out of me, and leaves my physical body laying on the floor. Not only is her voice incredible, but her presence just demands that you zone in only on her. She is one of the best artists that I have ever heard in my entire life, and no one will ever demand a stage, crowd, or small group like this the way Cynthia Erivo does. She is just AMAZING!!!!!🤷🏽♂️☺️😍😩
Amen. Cynthia is a force of nature. The most brilliant star of stars. I had the utmost pleasure of experiencing her talent in person at a performance of The Color Purple. In the 25 years of seeing broadway shows, I never witnessed a spontaneous, riotous standing ovation before the finale. It was an out-of-body experience.
I hate how all these movies use insanely talented Broadway actors in demos to get their movie greenlit and then cast big name celebs who are often mediocre singers at best for the film. That's like someone giving you a sample of the best chocolate cake you've ever had and then showing up at your wedding with a gluten free, vegan brick of stale cake for the big day.
Exactly! Justin Paul was also the piano player in the workshops before getting the movie greenscreened! My mom called him humble when she watched the videos of the workshops. I agree; he is.
@@noorykorky5056 It was funny in those videos seeing how amped up Justin got on the piano as the song went on in "This Is Me" as it became obvious how amazing a performance Keala was giving. I'd love to see the uncut video of the greenlight beyond just "This Is Me" and "From Now On." There was so much amazing Broadway talent in that room.
I get that people are upset with Zendaya being cast over Cynthia. But you need to take into account the fact that Cynthia was never officially attached to the role. Singers often do favours to composers when they’re workshopping songs/lyrics/etc, plus at the time TGS was finally gaining real traction, Cynthia was doing The Color Purple on Broadway and had committed to Steve McQueen’s “Widows”, so she wouldn’t have been available when TGS went into production.
People said the same thing about Zac Efron being cast over Jeremy Jordan, including Jeremy Jordan. Fortunately both Zendaya and Zac weren't just Hollywood names, are both talented singers and actors, and were really amazing in the roles. That being said it would be cool to see a version of Greatest Showman with all the actors and actresses from the greenlight workshop, though. The talent in that room was insane. Maybe if it ever gets made into a Broadway show, which it absolutely needs to be.
Jeremy Jordan and Cynthia should have been casted instead of Zac Efron and Zendaya. No offense they did pretty good but it woulda been next level with Cynthia and Jeremy
Probably because Zendaya fitted the physical aspect of the role a lot better. Keep in mind, whoever played Anne Wheeler not only had to sing, but also had to dance and be a trapeze artist (which isn't the most standard thing actors are required to for roles). I like how both Zendaya's and Cynthia's voices portrayed the song in a slightly different way, but Zendaya has the edge when it comes to what Anne Wheeler had to do overall.
These two brought out the frustration and poignancy of unrequited love and squeezed every last bit of emotion from the song. I didnt hear the lyrics, I felt them.
I come back to this video 6 years later, and I still can't believe how all those people are sitting with straight faces I would have been throwing my chair at them
This woman is UNBELIEVABLE. Is there anything she can't sing?! Not to mention, she's an amazing actress. Every time I hear her sing this I love her even more....and I already adored her! 🤩🤩🤩
Bro, this happens every time!!! EVERY TIME!!! I just wanna listen to Cynthia Erivo ahhh and I can’t! no matter what song she sings, no matter where I am, she makes me sob like horribly ugly sob. she truly is a gift from God. I literally become speechless when she sings only tears and crying commence.
You know I want you It's not a secret I try to hide I know you want me So don't keep saying our hands are tied You claim it's not in the cards Fate is pulling you miles away And out of reach from me But you're here in my heart So who can stop me if I decide That you're my destiny? What if we rewrite the stars? Say you were made to be mine Nothing could keep us apart You'd be the one I was meant to find It's up to you, and it's up to me No one can say what we get to be So why don't we rewrite the stars? Maybe the world could be ours Tonight You think it's easy You think I don't want to run to you But there are mountains And there are doors that we can't walk through I know you're wondering why Because we're able to be Just you and me Within these walls But when we go outside You're going to wake up and see that it was hopeless after all No one can rewrite the stars How can you say you'll be mine? Everything keeps us apart And I'm not the one you were meant to find It's not up to you It's not up to me When everyone tells us what we can be How can we rewrite the stars? Say that the world can be ours Tonight All I want is to fly with you All I want is to fall with you So just give me all of you It feels impossible (it's not impossible) Is it impossible? Say that it's possible How do we rewrite the stars? Say you were made to be mine? Nothing can keep us apart 'Cause you are the one I was meant to find It's up to you And it's up to me No one can say what we get to be And why don't we rewrite the stars? Changing the world to be ours You know I want you It's not a secret I try to hide But I can't have you We're bound to break and my hands are tied
So much talent honestly would be insane to be in that room! Cynthia is a class act I think they casted who would draw the audience but broadway people know who is really behind the scenes...we need more !!
