i recognize that sound in the beginning, it's the sound from when your minecart hits the rails after a jump in Donkey Kong Country snes, but decompressed and not cut short. It's also used as an instrument in DKCII 'melancholy mines'

The spritework and animation here looks amazing. Just one question, though... was the swarm of suicidal enemies before the final boss just as cheap as it looked? 'Cuz it felt a bit of a low blow to either sneak a player death or a waste of bombs.

9:39 You got lucky there, those homing lasers should have adjusted their aim after each volley instead of targeting a fixed point and created a blindspot. Shooters is not exactly Kaneko's thing, but somebody there must have really studied up on Raiden and Psikyo's games to create these bullet patterns and behaviors.

I guess the demon was Stolas, given how it resembled both an owl and an older man at times.
