Your absolutely right about availability of places to shoot. Young people today don’t shoot like we did. I’ve watched the decline in ability at the range. For everyday shooting, I really like what CZ has been doing. I like all my CZ’s. Your also right about us old guys shooting 22 more. It’s fun to just do light shooting, mostly at soda cans at one to three hundred yards. It’s fun to make them jump around. My goal was always to make a hunting rifle that performed like a precision target rifle. I’m gonna have to buy another safe to play with the gear you’ve developed. I already have four. Silly isn’t it. I’m really pleased that really good people like you and Sam are bringing our passions and knowledge to the whole of the world really. Thank you.

Thanks Mark & Sam. Nice looking rifle. If MTD ever decided to make a chassis for the CZ455, it would be great if they could design it so that the barrel could be changed without removing the receiver from the chassis.

Great video. After all these years of shooting. I too have gone back to .22lr. Im lucky enough to be able to shoot off the back deck of our home with a range from 0 yards-1 mile. I don't want to say center fire is easy.....but you know what im getting at.... .22lr in the 300-500 yard range across my valley is just too fun. Doing mental math on the fly cause of the slightest breeze+ ammo inconsistencies....is where my brain likes to be🍻 Rifle: sig 522 /19" bull barrel/ vortex viper 4x16x50 ffp ebr grid Burris xtr adjustable rings at 40 moa

We have had a great bunch of fun really stretching .22LR sub sonic out to its extreme limits. Its fantastic to only need 300 to 400y and have the same level of difficulty as shooting CF at 1200y. We are doing it with PCP airguns and enjoying it even more so then really stretch .22LR.

I thoroughly enjoy setting up on my front porch, and shooting my Marlin 881 bolt at my 50 yard targets. I've found that there is minimal difference in ammo, unless you buy the really expensive "match" grade stuff. I tested 8 different types of "regular" ammo the other day, and the CCI Standard velocity was slightly better than the others, but every other type was very comparable to one another. The Stingers were the obvious loser of the day, but the Velocitors held their own, out of my rifle. I go thru 1,000 rounds a week of .22, out of my pistols, and rifles. Good, cheap fun!!! I also hunt everything smaller than a coyote, with a .22. I move up to .223 for coyotes, not to say that a .22 won't put me down, tho... Great video, as always. Oh... I wanna give a huge shout out to my new Taurus TX-22. Over 1,500 rounds so far, with zero problems of any kind. Not even a light strike, using 95% bulk ammo. Amazing pistol!!!

Mark, great job as usual. I think the CZ is a great rifle, but I would love to see what you can do with a really inexpensive high quality 22, like the Savage Mark II FV or FV SR. The CZ may seem entry to guys who shoot $1500+ USD centerfire rigs, but it's in the neighborhood of twice the price of the Savage, which in my experience has equal accuracy and potential. Keep up the great work, never miss your videos.

I have both CZ 455 22LR and Savage FV SR 22 WMR. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the Savage shot and its accuracy. I compete with my CZ 455 but I honestly think the Savage performs almost as well. The enjoyment I get out of both bolt action rifles is not diminished with indifference to cost.

Thanks for the great videos Mark and Sam. Will you look at doing a real budget .22 ELR setup? Maybe something based on a JW-15 (cheap as chips here in NZ) and a Boyds or other affordable stock? Secondly, will appreciate your views on barrel lengths in .22’s. Is there any benefit in running anything longer than a 16”?

Hi Jan, we'll look into that one, and around 20" is what I have seen the optimum length for best mv, but not that much in it from 18 to 22, and 16" with a suppressor is not going to be that far behind, Cheers

Cheers for the good video as always. I’ve basically had it at the back of my mind since i was first on your channel that the best i could do is getting a really good .22 or .17 and practising on a smaller scale. I hadn’t realised people were taking that idea and running with it by getting an identical stock to their full bore etc. Interesting stuff, something to consider in a couple of pay checks perhaps.

MarkandSam AfterWork Hey Mark i actually went from the suggestions in this video and rewatched your old video on prone rifle shooting technique. Thats a seriously excellent video by the way, really detailed and well explained. I reckon the way you guys are going building up a library of videos like this shooting instructors worldwide will be getting irritated you’re giving away the game for free. But anyway it bought to mind a question which may even have a potential video behind it if theres any substance to the answer. Which is, is there any major difference between how you and Sam shoot, prone or otherwise. Its just in that video you mention how being a larger bloke you do things that may be more suited to someone closer to your size as opposed to mine. And it’d be interesting and maybe useful if there was any significant difference between how you two shoot. Sorry about the wordiness of all that. All the best to you guys and i really appreciate your replying and engaging with the fan base as well the great content. Cheers for all your efforts.

Thanks again, and well no, over the years it has grown to, that we shoot the same, although Sam doesn't do a lot with the big hitters, even when she does our style still works for her, but as always, I leave that for folks to work out what works for them, Cheers and all the best.

.22lr is what got me into longe range shooting, and its the only truly affordable round. I have a Volquartsen that will outshoot most guns at 100yds, and 2" groups at 300yds... Really get good experience, and you get spoiled really, I ponder and stress about a 1/4"Moa that is unaccounted for in my data..
@George-nx5lo
@George-nx5lo 5 лет назад
Ive also found Federal Match and Federal Target are virtually the exact same, my groups might be slightly smaller with the match but my go to is the federal target at .05 vs .10 a round.

Wow, you nailed it for me, I like to practice but was going broke buying ammo, I have a cheaper 22 rifle and would shoot it with the factory iron sights and it was fine, but I was lucky enough to buy an old but quality scope for small change, and for a lark, I mounted it on the cheap 22. I no longer consider it a cheap plinker, this thing shoots great. I had never considered it to be a tack driver with the iron sights, but it is very consistent with this old scope and with the right brand of... are you ready... bulk ammo! One brand of cheap ammo has surprised me on how consistent it really is. Maybe I just got a good run of ammo, but you don't need to spend a lot to get a good shooter!
@markandsamafterwork
@markandsamafterwork 5 лет назад

I have the same rifle, not set up as well as your's though, and I am having a strange experience with it. My first shot with a cool bbl is 10cm off in any random direction, the second shot is 2cm off before the rest of them finally find zero.
