I own 14 CZ’s, most Cajunized. The only ones I have two of are regular SP01 and Phantom. One Phantom is bedside gun AND main SHTF rig. I have close to a hundred thousand rounds though CZ’s. They are truly the best pistols ever made
I have a CZ Shadow 2 and can compare it to a different Sig. The Sig Legion 226 SAO was bought first. I fell in love with everything about that SIG. I usually replace my pistols grips with G10 grips but not this jewel. Well... six months later I bought a Shadow 2. I really never thought it would be my favorite fire arm. It seems that every one of my friends that shoots it loves it and actually shoots a-lot better, fancy that. Lately, I have been referring to it as my desert , thats right, too much of a good thing spoils you. If I could only have one pistol it would be the Shadow!
Good review KS. I also have both. Sig did a great job with the X5 Legion and it is now my favorite Sig edging out my P226 Legion. CZ Shadow 2 is my favorite handgun, however, the Sig X5 Legion is a close second and a keeper. Your previous review on the X5 Legion got me interested in taking a closer look and then the purchase. Great gun, very pleased. I was not going to buy anymore polymer framed handguns. Ha
Thanks Randy! I do agree about the X5. They really nailed it with the Legion. As for the CZ, it stays the leader of the pack. I’m glad you’re enjoying both! Cheers brother!
If you're just talking about the Sig P320, then, it isn't a very goods battle. If you're talking the Sig P320 X-5 legion vs the Walther Q5, then, that is a much better matchup. I own the P320, the X5 Legion P320. The Walther Q4 and Q5, and thew CZ 75 Shadow 2. Here is my opinion of their performance. 1. CZ 75 Shadow 2 2. Walther Q5 3. Walther Q4 and P320 X5 Legion (tied)
Been waiting for the showdown between these two pistols. Love the videos, very informative & dare I say entertaining, thanks KS. "Lights, lasers, chainsaws, bazookas, tiny ninjas" HA HA, good stuff!
I have the X5 and the CZ TSO (tactical sport orange). X5: has a Trijicon RMR and 21 round extended mags. I REMOVED the front sight, it kept hanging up on my holster, the sight is sharp and catchy. This gun is AMAZING to shoot and is my EDC OPEN CARRY weapon. CZ TSO: has a Trijicon SRO. 21 round extended mags. Orange anodized gas pedal and trigger. I looked at the TSO and the Shadow 2. I hated the LONG trigger on the Shadow 2. I have big paws (hands) so the rear checkering cut into my hand, very uncomfortable. I picked up the TSO... and oh baby! It fit like a glove! The TSO is far better than the Shadow 2.
I have the X5 Legion and love it but I have not had the pleasure of shooting a Shadow 2. Your videos really make me want to get my hands on one, though. On a side note, my wife doesn’t care one way or the other about gun videos but when she hears me listening to your videos she always comments on how well spoken you are.
I definitely recommend giving a Shadow 2 a try if you get the chance. Truly an amazing shooter. Your wife sounds very smart by the way! Lol. Thank you and cheers!
Seem like every time I have a plan for range day I end up watching one of your Uploads and I find my self changing my plans all over. I have way to much work to do on my Glock 460 Rowland and Glock 10mm that are still conversion works in progress but now after watching this I will now add a little CZ shadow Target II fun to the mix and it will make for a very nice day. Once again thank you for you constant influence on my life.
That Shadow Target sounds awesome! Glad to help with the range influence and it sounds like you’ll have a blast (pun intended). Thank you and cheers brother!
Given that I own both of these this is one that I can really comment on. They are both terrific but in truth it’s not even close. The Shadow 2 is the most common competition gun at any event for a reason. It is so dialed in and pleasant to shoot and shoot fast that it will cost you in ammo. The Sig makes for a great duty gun and takedown is way easier than the CZ, making it great for daily use but the trigger on the CZ and the low bore axis keeps the CZ way flatter.
I put a X Compact frame on my P 320 Sub Compact and WOW! the difference it makes. I wanted a rail which the SC doesn't have and the very nice grip plus 3 extra rounds found my sweet spot.
I've been waiting for this video ever since you reviewed the x5 legion! I was at a toss up on which to choose, so thank you for clearing up some of the nitty gritty between the two! It'll be awhile before I can get either one but I'm gonna try to hold them both to see which feels better!
Probably should compare the cz to a sig p210.... It's not striker fired. Better yet a p226 legion. Honestly, I do like the cz shadow 2. Sig's simply fit my hand better. The x5 legion is more of a competition to the Walther ppq5 in steel frame. I'll pick the Sig over any of these "heavyweight" competition pistols. Love your videos and appreciate your love for the shadow 2
KS, I noticed you shoot with prescription glasses. I just got my first pair and they are progressive. Can you tell me or do a video on how best to adapt and shoot with prescription glasses as I keep losing the sights or targets!! Thanks
I love my pistols 1) HK VP9 2) CZ p10s (ECC) 3) CZ AccuShadow 2 4) Walther Q5 Match SF 5) Sig Sauer P320 XFive Legion 6) NightHawk Shadow customized w/rmr
Agree. To me trigger is most important. Best trigger wins, given everything else is working properly & the grip fits my hands. However a P226 or P229 Legion would have been a better comparison of features, within the class of firing mechanism. Striker pistols against striker pistols. Hammer pistols against hammer pistols.
I'd say either one is a winner, as they sport 100% coolness factor! Own both but haven't shot the Legion yet, or anything else in the last 3 or 4 months. I don't know for sure as I have yet to shoot the legion but probably would stick with the S2.
Great vid. Honestly I would get the legion. You could put the chassis in a carry option when not wanting to conceal the P320 X5 Legion. You can literally carry the same trigger that you compete with
I shouldn't even vote, but I am not a Sig fan at all and I really like CZs. Although I have never fired the Shadow 2; I have dry fired it at the BX and felt it is pure quality. Great presentation KS as always!!!
Thanks for the great review, but you can call me old fashioned for only buying guns made 100% in the USA. That's the great beauty of living in the USA, you can buy what you want.
I had issues with the shadow 2. Where the checkering stops on the front and back strap sticks out to far and rubbed into my hand terrible. The beaver tail also rubbed into my hand. The cz is going to cost you almost $1200 minimum. The legion $900 and has an optics cut. I have a gray gun spring, keres trigger , and apex trigger bar and mine. Plus talon sandpaper grips. Trigger Is awesome. Almost as good as an apex in a ppq with a 3 pound spring ( what I have my q5 match) . Also i shoot production and like that it came with the shorter mags that work for that class. I have $200 into the trigger and talon grips. A shadow 2 trigger is $300, new grips are $100 and optics/lightning cut is $400. So $1100 vs $2000 after upgrades.
graynote I had a shadow 2 for a week. It’s the only gun I ever sold. I love cz’s and I assumed I’d love the showdown 2. I held one a bunch of times before buying it. But I’d never shot one till I bought it. I grip my pistols really hard for recoil control. The shadow 2’s transition from checkering to non sticks out to far and would dig into my hand. I had to put tape over the transition section on front and back. I shot the A01-LD and it was great. Much more refined in the checkering. But for $2000 I guess it better be. I’d still have my shadow 2 if it had the same grip as the A01-LD.
KSGunGuy made a huge mistake. Do not put a apex trigger bar or gray gun lighter spring in ( it was actually counter productive) Definitely put in the keres trigger though. It gets rid of all take up and reset.
Great video! I had been looking forward to this one. 2 of the 3 top “expensive pistols” on my list. I agree with the outcome, but still put the Langdon tactical version of the Beretta 92 on top. I know you like the M&Ps and wonder your thoughts between a P10F vs a 5” M&P?
That’s cool about the LTT Beretta. I hadn’t though about throwing that in the mix. As for the P10 vs M&P, I’d go P10. Just a little flatter and fits better in my hands. Thank you and cheers!
KSGunGuy I agree with the p10 too, just thought it would make a decent comparison video. I own both compacts and am looking for a full size, and am leaning toward the P10F, cause the trigger, optic ready slide and overall fit(the compact fits my hands better too). Love the M&P texture, but loath that hinge trigger. Once the trigger shoe is replaced that thing is awesome though!
I have the Shadow 2 and the X-five non-legion with grayguns kit, CZ is my favorite but the Sig fits my hands very well. I shoot my Canik tp9sfx just as good as both for 1/3 the price!!
I would love to see one of these segments on budget foreign pistols. Like the steyr m9a1 and the grand power q100.. I think both are great and currently budget friendly.
I have about 8k through my X5 I added the legion frame a month ago, makes a big difference in competition SC,USPSA , but the Shadow is a excellent HAMMER FIRED GUN...not a fair comparison with the striker fired Sig. Rick's right compare it to the Walther.......
Great vid. I watch your comparison, and Honest Outlaw compare of same guns. Both had same thoughts as seems everyone. I have a Q5. Shoots well. Pretty much decided on X5 L next. CZ seems to have the rep. Love the look of the X5 L. Just looks rugged. I’ll have check out CZ. No compete so think can/will hold off on CZ for now. Thing is...does the Legion offer much benefit over the X5 to justify $ difference?
@@chrismartinelli9153 sig made a regular P320 X5, however it was discontinued and they now only make the P320 X5 Legion. (Their custom shops make other non-P320 x5s as well, but those are a different animal and several thousand dollars.)
I don't disagree with your pick I just have a difficult time buying a CZ for that price as they all feel like heavy BB guns made in the 70's . Yah I know it's just me but they feel so cheap. LOL. I'll have to get one, good video
Heavy BB guns made in the 70's? I don't know what the hell you're talking about and I am suspecting that you don't know what the hell you're talking about either. Anyone saying a CZ feels "cheap" has never held one. And Tungsten on a polymer frame is far more "cheap" than an all steel gun. I would refrain from commenting if you're not even familiar enough with the products to speak on them properly.
I’m noticing the magazines tend to rattle a bit inside the grip frame. It’s especially noticeable with the 21 round magazine. The extra space sure makes magazine insertion fast! Not noticed any functional problems, just don’t like the rattle.
I have both,, and I am not happy,, I should have used the extra money I had to just get the mill job done on my Shadow 2 slide,, I freaking Hate my X5 Legion. I'm feeling this strange smooth texture underneath the trigger guard the more I shoot the gun, just a horribly uncomfortable and bulky gun. 😢
DaveandDebe sell it and get your shadow cut to achieve competition weight. You may have lost some money on the X5, but there is no point in keeping a gun you hate.
@@1970HondaCL100 I will save you the trouble, it's for sale! No comparison and still feels like,,,,, PLASTIC,,,, PLASTIC... they can Infuse bone marrow and it ain't going to help it 🤔
I was hoping that you’d make this head-to-head. I agree that between these two the CZ takes it. I own both of them and for me, the CZ is a “better” looking package but boy that XFive shoots well... Thanks for the video KS!
Hey man I know this is a apples to oranges question, but if you had to pick between a sp01 tactical that's stock or a Sig p320 full size that has an apex trigger upgrade, which would you pick?? Appreciate the advice and keep up the good work!
So what is the difference between the models of the Shadow, and which is the best value there? Hope there’s a chance to see a video that helps us distinguish them. I’m not even sure how many variants there are. Sounds like it would be tough duty. - if you could get a group of them lined up!
@T Smith The best Shadow is my opinion is the Shadow 2, more specifically the optic ready. It has a removable rear iron sight plate which allows you to put a RDS in it’s place and then convert back again to iron sights, but I’m not sure why anyone would want to after shooting with an optic. All Shadow’s are based on the CZ75 platform and include the SP-01 Shadow, SP-01 Shadow TR, SP-01 Shadow Orange, Shadow 2, Shadow 2 Orange, Shadow 2 Optic Ready and also includes a few CZ Custom models (though they are not USPSA/IPSC approved), the Shadow Target, the Shadow t and the Accushadow. The Shadow 2 is a result of CZ listening to the competitive shooters that were shooting the SP-01 Shadow who were modifying their pistols and CZ took that data and recreated the SP-01 Shadow, into the SP-01 Shadow 2. With the permanent inclusion of the Optics in the Production Division (IPSC), the optics ready Shadow 2 was born. I started off with a Shadow 2, then started shooting Production Optics and haven’t looked back, I sold my non-optic Shadow 2 and recently bought a second optic ready. THe optic ready S2 is not available in the US because of the weird USPSA ruling around weights, but it’s hands down THE best pistol I’ve ever shot. If you’re looking at picking up a Shadow, you can’t go wrong with the Shdaow 2.
Blaaaaa, the Sig out does the CZ, having both, the many features of the SIg out do the trigger as the only slight advantage of the CZ...The Shadow 2 will be in the trade out rotation for the next bigger and better gun released.
I have both. Both are excellent! However, the CZ is better in my view. I am interested in the Accu Shadow 2 or the Tactical Sport Orange. I am not sure which is best if goal is speed and accuracy, with more emphasis on accuracy. Suggestions welcome.
Uuuuurgh think you just cost me an extra $300 bucks. If I was gonna stump up the extra coin for the CZ should I consider going the extra yard for the 92X performance if I've always dreampt of owning a Beretta?
At the end of the day I wish I could have either as thanks to CA I don't think either are on the approved roster of handguns as our state knows what is best for us....LOL...Nice pistols as I hope to get to shoot em someday....Good review and detailed info as always sir....Good stuff...
The word “infringe” has been removed from the 2nd Amendment as far as Californians interpretations. Sad day that Americans have given into and submitted to a tyrannical government. The government has no legal rights to pick and choose the firearms that a citizen possess...period!
Very very very hard to beat the shadow 2 out of the box. I recently had the chance to shoot a Czechmate Parrot. For the price you can get 3 shadow 2s! I don’t compete but I shoot a lot and it didn’t impress me enough to think it was any better than a shadow 2.... with my causal drills anyways
That’s pretty freaking cool that you had the chance to run the parrot, even though I totally agree with you. The Shadow 2 is just that good. Thank you and cheers Rooster!
Great comparison video of 2 fine pistols. The Shadow2 ruined my outlook of polymer pistols. I'll keep my tricked out G34 and G26 but PPQ Q5 and TP9 SFX will find a new owners.
I agree I own all three the original X5 the shadow 2 in urban grey and now the legion X5. Shadow 2 still my favorite, but the legion version is worth the upgrade over the original!
The only option I like on the Sig over the S2 is the optic mount. And I’d like to put the Sig up against my TP9SFX or Q5. All bias aside, any would be an excellent choice.
@Richard Saunders Canada (and the rest of the world) has the optic ready Shadow 2. The only thing holding it back from flooding the US market is the stupid weight restrictions of 45oz for Carry Optics. I had the Sig X5 briefly, (VERY BRIEFLY), before CZ came out with the Optic Ready Shadow 2 and as soon as I got the OR Shadow 2, the X5 went out the door as did my non-optic Shdaow 2 because a Shadow 2 with a dot, is that good! In my opinion. Big J milled all three of his S2’s for an optic, but I think with milling you permanently end up losing the rear iron sight and you’re pigeon holed into one optic as the slide is drilled specifically for that optic (Optic manufacturers just can’t come to consensus on a universal hole pattern).
@Richard Saunders Give it some time. Either competitive shooters are going to press for change on the rules around weight restrictions or CZUB might end up making a lightened version of the Shadow 2 OR for the US market, much like they’ve modified other pistols like the P09 for the Australian market. I think their hands are pretty full with the international market right now. The OR S2’s sell out as quickly as they get them in, I was one of the first in Canada to get my hands on one and I have not looked back since. Just picked up a Trijicon SRO for my latest one. (I now own two optic ready Shadow 2’s and I barely shoot the P09 or P10F anymore, it’s that awesome!)
Not really sure why you selected the CZ over the SIg, and it sounded as though the pick was very subjective! Kinda like, I just like blue more than black, i.e., not because the CZ made you a better shooter, but other less specific issues. Can you articulate your top reason for the CZ vs the Sig? TIA
Notification for new KS video....Oh yes I stopped what I was doing to watch this one. Great comparison of two awesome firearms. I’ve held both but never fired either. They both make me drool at the gun store.
When you showed the size (width and height) from the back, that made it an easy decision for me. I prefer Compact or Commander-size guns and even a full-size CZ is too big for my needs (CCW), but the Sig is just too damn big and fat. I'd never buy a Legion anyway, just a marketing gimmick and the first thing I'd do is chop off that FUGLY beaver tail (prefer nicely-trimmed beavers). As a range gun or bedside toy. I would go with a Shadow 2 in an instant if it wasn't so expensive.
The Sig is definitely a big gun Mean. The Shadow seems almost small beside it until you pick it up, lol. Smaller for carry makes good sense. Thank you and cheers brother!
@@pistolpete1 Cuz, it's not really a smaller Shadow 2 (more like a hybrid P01) and way overpriced. I already have a PCR and with a little Cajunizing, I feel would be a better choice.
Not a gimmick, with the legion you get a tungsten infused grip, better barrel and guide rod for 1911 springs and a lighter trigger. Worth an extra 200 over the x five.
So this doesn’t make the x5 legion a better gun than the shadow 2 but for a state like CA and MA that has a roster, the p320 fcu pays off in a way a CZ or other competition platforms can’t compete. I can take my p320 carry/compact and build my own legion w/out paying double msrp since it’s off roster. Best bang for the buck at least but maybe not the best performer.
Legion for days. I cant get over the cz slides being so narrow and hard to rack. I like the cz internal slide rails for that little bit of accuracy but it really doesn't do anything that special especially against a gun like the p320 legion wich is just as accurate. The modular system is the biggest reason I choose the legion. Both great guns but in my opinion just get a full size p320 with night sights and buy the x carry grip module and save yourself 600 too 700$. It's very hard to justify a pistol being over 500$ when ar 15s are 500$
@@artimla492 We a strict compliant roster . Both CZ and Glock will not go through the expensive process . So no Glocks either . Only Gen 1and 2 . Pre ban .
BEING DAVE GASS ??? Holy lord! I thought CA’s roster was super limited but at least we get Glock gen 3’s here. So what about home build like a p80? I’m assuming that you can buy off roster via private party sales from a LEO?
@@artimla492 No polymer 80's ,no AR or AK'S . M&P 2.0'S which are made in Massachusetts come with factory 10lb triggers . I could go on and on . We just make the best of it . My personal prize gun is my Sig Legion SAO 226 . It's such a great shooter and high quality .
