Czecho Slovakian Meat Grinder Restoration 

My Grandmother had one of these circa 1968 in Poland. Thanks for this bit of nostalgia! The original was not painted, but coated with polished tin.

Nice restoration, but it should be covered in a layer of 99.99% food grade tin. The paint layer on the outside does not protect the inside parts and since it's from cast iron it will rust.

The meat grinder is covered with a layer of food tin inside and outside. With this cleaning, the tin was most likely removed.

If one has a lathe, it would pay to add a needle thrust bearing and mating thrust washers. INA makes one for $4, available at ZORO. The nylon bushing is good, but a real bearing makes it much easier to operate. You will use the lathe to remove about .125" from the screw and face off the end to receive the thrust bearing.

I'm pretty sure that you are missing two parts. The first one would be a rubber cap over that circle shaped element on 17:21. The second one would be a rubber "plate" that you would put between the "feet" and the table, 19:05.
