D&D Module Monday #12: Against the Cult of the Reptile God 

I wonder if there could be a way of placing something within the final dungeon to level the playing field with the Naga and effectively replace Ramne. If the players can find out about a weakness, an old curse from a defeated enemy of the Naga or something similar, perhaps from Ramne even, that feels more player centric than having an NPC do the heavy lifting for them..? You could even go a little Greek Mythology and have some kind of mirror or shiny shield that defends against some of its powers, the real trial then is the players hearing about a weakness then investigating that further so they know how to exploit it. If they don't then they face the full danger head on. Something like that? This could work nicely if there is some kind of foreshadowing that seems unrelated to current events but placed early on. Maybe in the Slumbering Serpent they see a painting or hear a tale about the weakness of the 'serpent folk of old' or what have you, and in it they see things they later see in the dungeon... Could work.

I love this adventure. I’ve reskinned it numerous times and just ran it two times in my last campaign without anyone catching on. It’s not perfect as printed but, man I love it.

It is a great module but the whole Ramne and Naga thing especially needs some adjustment. I ran this for a party of 3rd level and nerfed the Naga's fireball so it wouldn't be a guaranteed TPK without Ramne and it was a blast. The party did convince the village ranger and the two elves to join their cause which helped a lot. I also didn't like the final dungeon that much so I made it much smaller and kept what I felt was essential, but that was just me to make adventure fit one long session. The village of Orlane and the temple of Merikka were quite fantastic, so I kept them as is.

good vid but sound low - my laptop on full its a struggle to hear run many times and never used npc wizard - a magic item like a wand and some potions would possibly replace him fine not really my idea of a railroad any more than needing an item to win is
