The best DM I ever had was my friend's dad. He was a natural storyteller. He was an awesome professional fantasy cover-artist, and was equally as good at creating visuals with his verbal descriptions.
Heh, I had a hell of a dnd game myself. The party were pirates, and the three founding members were a halfling, a half-orc, and a sentient golem(Me). The others who joined were considered expendable, and instead of a parrot, the mascot was a tamed wyvern. I was a rather sociopathic chef who was classed as a golem barbarian, only instead of a trident and shield, he used a pot lid and a giant fork. Let's just say that my intimidation checks involved the words 'food for Polly?' and screaming coming from my cooking pot.
Sitting at home, drinking beer with some snacks and rewatching my favourite episodes of HCGShow and BAM! The new awesome episode appears! Sounds like very good day:)
Im glad that some gaming channels that I follow are giving some time over for tabletop discussion. I actually made my own channel because I couldn't find a place that would discuss tabletop and videogame RPGs in a balanced setting. I've noticed though that D&D and other stuff is creeping into video's of people I have been watching, such as yourself. Its really cool man, I appreciate you shining a bit of light on the tabletop side.
It's great listening you guys recount some of your D&D stories. You guys should really consider having a D&D night in which the even is livestreamed for viewers. It would give people a flavour of the game and what transpires! Great video as always!
I'm really glad to see more D&D related videos on your channel. I'm also hoping to one day find that version of the 2nd Edition Player's Handbook. I have the older DMG and the Monstrous Manual that came as a Binder.
Love these episodes! Brings back memories of playing AD&D, Battletech, Robotech and TMNT back in the day. I still have some of the manuals and boxed sets. I remember going to Waldenbooks to hunt down anything with TSR on it. Good times.
I was seriously just thinking about the older episodes (cuz I haven't been checking lately) and BOOM I GOT WHAT I WANTED! I seriously love those episodes Johnny keep'em coming!
I still remember my character from the 80's (Earl Arslan). So many D&D adventures with him...and so many times my buddy trying to stab me in the back lol. And making black pudding grenades (stuffing black puddings into bottles)
Sounds like y'all had a lot of great experiences with dd merp. I've never played either unfortunately but I do have fond memories of childhood gaming dating back to 92. My fave memory tho is playing soul calibur ii on ps2 w my two best friends Derick and JB. Derick sadly passed away two years ago, but I'll never forget those high school days at his house.
Just love to hear your stories! Playing some GURPS and DnD modules with my friends from time to time - we got a dude who likes than his characters behave themselfs just like Swagger))
I facepalmed and laughed so hard at Swagger de-facing a lizard man and putting the skin on his face and genuinely thinking he cool fool other lizard men into thinking he's one of them HAHAHAHAHAH I'm fucking dying
I've never played d&d but I could imagine the funny story's me and my friends would have had if we did , thanks for sharing the funny stories guys keep up the good work
i had 2 groups of mates growing up,one we would play consoles and watch films we even played a bit of D&D,and the other played on motorbikes smoked drinked and stuff like that and always getting in fights, its funny think about realy how different they were
Great stories guys. The time we had to bullsh*t the day away lol. First D&D character I penned I ripped straight from Kuros from Wizards & Warriors. My best friend wasn't happy until he killed him. Rolled a 20 on me and he was killed instantly. lol
I barely can manage to get my friends together online at a certain day & time to play. I can't imagine trying to get people together in a physical place at the same time. That seems impossible now days. We do have different work schedules though so that plays a big part.
HAHAHA! The move of getting you guys lost and try to attack each other is actually brilliant! (but playing one at a time is boring for the others, I get that)
Great video, and Story. Now tell us what Your first thoughts were when You walked into an Arcade and first laid Your eyes on Dragons lair or Space Ace, the Arcade Laser disc Games. And You realized "Now I'm playing a cartoon".
Hey, HCG. Would you ever consider recording a video of yourself and friends playing D&D or even a brief video on how to play it or something like that. I think it would be pretty cool because I have never actually played D&D and I would love to see how it works.
