I played a WM goblin barb. The Magic part was reflavored to him eating magic mushrooms. So the "wild magic" part was actually him manifistating the hallucinations of him being on magic mushroom. The party went from being very vary of him cause of a goblin. To several people actually having tears in their eyes when he died.

@@TheSinisterheroes He was meant to be a small extra. It was an online group. mostly new people. I was just gonna play a filler for when they had room. Ended up being a fairly regular. I have played for over 30 years. Wasnt my first death, but damn the rest of the party was attached to him :)

Once I died in combat and one of the party members literally started crying. It was like this deep dark blanket came over everything. It was so sad. I didn’t realize how much it meant to the other party members but wow was it memorable and my favorite death ever

We’ve had a warforged wild magic barbarian on our Saturday game. It was fun especially since we also have a wild magic sorcerer in the party.

Hahaha the last WM Barb I had at my table was also a Warforged. He went full tank using the Shield Master + Danger Sense hack . Got a hold of a Ring of Free Action at some point resulting in the rest of the table simply calling him "The Juggernaut".

I finally realize why you & your videos are good. You're supportive, making things work even if it's not an optimized play because you really understand playing the Character, making that a priority first & foremost. Good job & keep up the good work.

Thank you !!! I remember playing optimalized characters and they just never felt fun because it was always someone’s build and it just never felt fun for me. With the way things are now where you see soo much optimization and max dpr builds. I just wanted to help people remember you can still do your own thing and enjoy it.

I like this subclass a lot. Tack on Ritual Caster and support your allies in & out of combat. You're still going to have a blast in battle.

I have this idea for a wild magic barbarian character in a modern fantasy setting where the character used to exist in a virtual game world, but was taken out by a wizard that wanted to experiment with dimensional magic and media. I’d flavor the wild magic surge abilities as different power ups she used to be able to use in her game, but due to the switch from a virtual world to the material plane her “coding” so to speak got all messed up and now she can’t easily control them anymore, so they happen at random whenever she gets angry! Her motivation would be to get back to her game world, and she’d slowly have to learn social perimeters as she travels with her group.

I get the idea of like glitching as they do in Spider-Man across the spider verse. Its sounds really viable. I like bringing in the modern day setting asthenic. It seems almost alien to me.

I personally love the randomness of this subclass and i have an idea about how different emotions represent each different effect so it's like different emotions triggers a different effect and both the emotions and the effects are random plus an emotional barbarian that's more than just rage sounds like so much fun to me and i have a background concept that would be great for this but I'll explain it during the wild magic sorcerer video because it can also work for them as well

Thanks so much for covering this, love it! One thought on tactics and damage: this subclass is probably the best archer Barbarian given Bolstering Magic and the WMS which grant Teleport, Difficult Terrain oder ranged attacks. Bolstering Magic brings it on par with a Fighter with Archery fighting style. So it's a good boost for Sharpshooter.

I really enjoyed playing this class, it scratched the support itch i had but it seemed like all i ever got was the difficult terrain. Its a good effect but man we fought a lot of stuff with high mobility that could just skirt out of or around it. I miss Koli

Literally how does this class work? Barbarians aren't casters. And the two ways to theoretically produce one, given as examples in the book don't make sense. Sorcerers' bloodlines are outsider specific already, so a Sorcerous Bloodline already has a source. If a Fey cursed you, on the other hand, none of the wild magic would be beneficial. On top of that, Barbarians being generally wild (chaotic), that doesn't imply an inherent connection to the Feywild.

You know what I think works is, having the rage be able to connect to the weave. Hear me out ok so sorcerers use magic almost as a natural extension of them selves, like wiggling a finger. What if the rage alters your mental connection to the world and gives you this ability to vacuum in the weave. So your rage triggers that latent magic and your rage pulls it in as like fuel or energy to consume for your enduring rage.

@@TheSinisterheroes um. You used to have to cross class to get anything related to magic on a non-magical class. Otherwise it was a prestige class. Barbarians shouldn't just start able to have magical effects and abilities unless you're playing an expanded racial variant that allows for such an ability to exist. If there were always wild magic barbarians running around, there wouldn't be towns.

You do have to be level 3 to get it so maybe that’s enough ? But it comes to how you want to do it. I know if you go back to older versions it wouldn’t happen till higher level and I get that. I gotta say that it would be really funny to see a bunch of wild magic barbarians leveling a town LOL

I tend to think of Wild Magic Barbarians as kind of “rupturing” the weave more then connecting to it. Like mystically conflicting against the weave and causing strange anomalies to happen around them.
