This dude is just different. I was like "flawless can rap , and has the best pen (I still think he has a great pen. he added level of artistry I to him)" but this man right here... His versatility, unique storytelling, poetic writing , beat selection, flow , is just crazy.
@@youngdrago2979 yeah I get what you mean but I personally think there in the same league but on different lanes if you feel me , flawless is more of a rapper like MC but artistry/musician is more of D Smokes lane
Joshua Ortiz also, and i might get hate for this, but flawless comes off as arrogant to me. The only song he did where he didn’t talk about himself only was with the collabs and then after that and before it was all about him making it. D Smoke connects with people and he isn’t arrogant so at the end of the day he did come out representing Inglewood
WE GREW UP ON THE WEST SIIIDE!! WEST SIIIDE!! When he yelled that shit on Rythm and Flow that shit gave me chills!! Even with the slip up the performance was dope!
God Damn I wish he nailed his performance in the show on this song. The song is a fucking vibe and he killed the first half. And even after the mess up, at the end, when he yelled "We grew up on the Westside, Westside!" Shit just felt different.
Just watched the show for the 3rd time and D Smoke is truly a work of art. Genuine. Humble. Creative. Cultured. Aware. Mindful. Gifted. He’s a true rarity.
You read my mind with this comment. I think Kendrick's voice is to similar to D Smoke> I think from TDE, Jay Rock would be a better fit. Another feature I think could work is Big KRIT, especially if they do the production together
The best part is that it’s really easy for him to get in touch with him since his brother is signed to TDE and he has met Kendrick, Ab Soul, ScHoolboy Q and all the other members.
This song hits that place in your heart that you forgot was there. No I’m not from LA but I as m from a place called Chicago where little boy grow up trying to make sense of everything going on around them. From Childhood to Fatherhood, I still release tears and this song did that for me. D Smoke about to paint some beautiful pictures. ✊🏾♥️👑
...look I'm almost 50 ..never really liked rap, just certain rap artist.. Busta, Tupac, Big Poppa, The Roots, Common etc... but this guy here has just been added to my list! Phenomenal Brotha!🔥🔥🔥
Single-handedly the sneakiest hallmark of that show was the use of this sample. D Smoke is incredible and the producer put this together perfectly. I'll be listening to this forever.
He brought understanding tears and years to my eyes. To understand what a human goes through is to understand yourself. A gift is beyond his words, it’s more like a destined journey that he was meant to go on. His voice helps the heart know that it’s not just us going through real shit💯
You understood him just fine, why d'you have to be such an ass about it? It's a comment on youtube not a goddam article. Also you should learn about linguistics. Language is ever changing.
Incredibly gifted You can't beat me with a baseball bat I'm from a place where you better be different These niggas aiming at your baseball hat Put extra holes in your letterman sixes Niggas retire out the streets with no medals But they medal left veterans lifted I'm a king in my checkers a missus checking for change in my pocket I got babies at home and they ain't feeding they self Bank ain't making no loans to black man It's 1987 so that crack jam So my habit make my cash do a tap dance Hand to hand exchanges Got me high as fuck now I'm eager and dangerous I could stack it up if I just hit a couple licks I ain't no bitch but if I get caught I'm sure gone miss it When the kids pull up When the kids pull up [Chorus] We grew up on the west-side, west-side I'm just tryna live my best life, ya damn right Til the kids pull up [Verse 2] Grandma cooking the kitchen looking a mess Reminiscing knowing you blessed In the vision guiding you I smell violets and violence Sugar and silence Making melodies and beats out of bullets and sirens Wiping boogers on Darrel back and Davion is smiling Baby how I'm supposed to feed y'all up in this wild asylum Go outside and play a little Grass stains on my jeans, ya'll boss(?) so they scratching up my face a little Faith in little things like candy rings and skittles give it to my crush and all I hope is that she be open to play a little Save a little for tomorrow cuz when the lights come on we borrowing time Like watching angels age a little Say a little prayer Before I go to bed, thankful for my mom every night about my head How she fill that void when pops was in the feds And her only concern was that her sons will never scare When the kids pull up When the kids pull up [Chorus] We grew up on the west-side, west-side I'm just tryna live my best life, ya damn right Til the kids pull up [Outro] Til the kids pull up
This guy did not disappoint in every contest. I see big things for D Smoke. Reminds me of a Kendrick Lamar vibe with his change in tone in his rapping.
When I found out that this is Sir’s brother.. I was like ayeee. We got siblings. I’m here for that. Glad I came across this man. He’s beautiful and love his hair.
i love the way he crafts his lyrics the into an art form that's satisfying to the ear, relatable, and unique asf. we need more artists like him who can speak of universal issues and have us bopping to their music at the same time.
You are the truth my brother, keep pulling these kids to the light, see that you’re making it your duty, you will prevail cause your heart is at the right place, do change for the best, WEST SIDE ☝🏾❤️
My 3 year old heard me play this a few times, I had to leave for a month, and a month of not hearing this song, he has started saying in a lower voice "When the kids pull up" lmfao. D Smoke is the shit. He's got an effect on my toddler lmao. great song!
I was searching for this full track every day too...this was the best song that he did - and that is saying something! Best sample on the whole show (hands down), and one of the best samples ever!
Shit just plain fire no exceptions. The way they flipped the sample was brilliant. And the chorus was monster. Gets mad play in the ride ( Menace 2 Society)
