I really hope this little single cam is still going. I ran a JDM D15B VTEC turbo for a while in my EK and took out quite a few cars that I shouldn't have been able to. A while back I gave up the boosted single cam in the glorious quest for torque and went LS turbo. Now I'm running 302 whp on a T04e with a basically stock motor on 12 lbs. I have many many plans for it but I have a built LS head with BC stage 2 turbo cams and a Cometic MLS head gasket and a Gates Racing timing belt that's about to go in. If I can't make 350 whp with this setup on stock internals, it's forged and REAL boost here I come. Next up is an LSD and strong axles. Best time at my first time at the track ever...14.6 @ 101 MPH spinning through the 1/8th...awesome work with the single slammer though. I'm impressed.
That's crazy cause my brother broke a 13.7 in the quarter years ago in his HF CRX with an all motor single cam ZC v-tec all it had was an intake manifold a cam and some P29 pistons which are oem for the twin cam ZC he made 143whp oh and he also had the ZC cable trans with the half shaft open diff

Excellent video and progress on the car! Just picked up a '89 hatch for auto crossing. I have a Z6 head for it and have a goal or 300 whp w/ a turbo...nice to see what they could do with some boost!

What tire are you running now and what pressure do you run? I've had great luck with my MH slicks, no problem sticking at any track I've been to. 1.71 short times and trapping 130-132

get some racing seats and a 4 point bro, with that much speed your seat is going to tear away from the car if you hit hard enough. Be safe use your head so you dont lose it
yeah hopefully you upload that video. im hoping to start on my build. the trans you built the z6 one what shorter gears did you use? and did you use the same 4.25 final drive?
at 400-450whp, what tranny setup would be usful. Should i just do lsd & 6 puck stage 5 clutch & should hold for awhile? Also catch can install, any helpful diagrams or videos to show that?
Austin Lawrence I running stock y8 trans with older obx lsd.. I have Comp stage 4 clutch but it will slip so i would suggest Comp Stage 5 if you're pushign more than 300lbs of torque or Action 2MS or 2MD
+Joe Doole that is definitely something i looked into, pricing is everything on that. Cars being tuned for 450 whp today so we will see how it holds up
Cool man enjoy it. I'm all B/K series now, but I've had a few single cams in the past. I ran a stock 95 USDM si tranny with faceplated gear stack and ACT stage 4 clutch and DSS 2.9 axles at ~400whp/310wtq and had no issues for the nearly two years I had it. Super fun car, low boost + high compression. Made a sick, very linear (for a turbo cAr) powerband. Miss it all the time, but from what I hear it's still alive to this day! ( D16z6 block, 75.5mm 11:1 pistons, Eagle Rods, D16z6 crank micro polished and full engine balanced with flywheel and JDM D15B crank pulley, D16y8 ported head, Ferrea 6000 springs/retainers, Comp stage 2 turbo cam, Skunk2 intake manifold(ported), B series 70mm TB, BWR Ramhorn manifold, GT3071r, 3" downpipe/3"Thermal R&D Catless exhaust, Hondata s300 tuned.
So i have a stock d16y8 and i was gonna get a ebay turbo kit while i save up for something else. Was thinking about running only 6 psi. So i have the turbo kit, whats next ? Just take it to a shop and get it tuned ?? Kinda noob, sorry.
Yea it's been about 6 years since I've had a D series so I dunno about recent. I know these CPs for my B20V have been amazingly durable. Going on 40k miles now and probably over 150 passes. Motor is over 4 years old and still running plenty strong. Spent its first 3 years and ~30k miles NA making around 230/165 to the wheels NA then the last 1.5 years and 9k miles or so boosted making 450/320 @ 13.5psi on a GTx3076r and Full Race kit. 12:1 comp turbo car FtMFW! That engine is actually for sale in an EG right now, focusing on my new EM1/88x99mm K build now.
