They could make ANC grow back to the 51% See all the ANC had to do is to give DA those key ministries and take credit for the DA's hard work. ANC voters will assume that ANC did it especially those in the rural areas
If the DA was as good as they claim, how come they did NOT grew their support base over the last 4 years? Zille is running the show by instructions from the Bosses in the USA and UK
I'm honestly happy we finally getting a change in parliament and we see what the DA can do. I was hoping they would get health or Police but I'm glad they at least got education because we have seen the same thing for too long. I hope for our country they actually try fix and make a difference in normal South African lives. If they do the next election is theirs. I will vote and screams their praises.People don't care what colour you are we just want to have a better state of living.
May God" have mercy on us my people* as we are in Komminist driven country at the moment. If the wrong combination comes togather we as W... are screwed. Please pray to God our Father to save us from these mostly uneducated lot. Amen ➕️📖➕️
I'm also so excited, change is good, we went through a lot in the past 30yrs;state capture, 9 wasted years, Nkandla fire pool, Gupta's appointing ministers and looting our SOE's, VBS looted, arms deal, Marikana, Phala Phala, etc. This change is good for SA as we've been screwed too much.
This is a one shot opportunity for the DA cause if they get this miniseries functioning effectively then they will hold the presidential office the coming elections.
@@nolisto1I agree. If the DA turns it around ANC will take credit and their voters will believe it. Cannot turn around the department of education in 5 years.
I have to say I don't agree with you Dan, that the DA and ANC were petty squabbling, they have a huge responsibility to make sure they get it right. I think they were right to take their time.
Absolutely. These were big negotiations which will shape the entire future of our nation. They were meant to be long and tough. If DA lay down and accepted I would be bitterly disappointed. Good on them
Those r the good news .lets keep on praying for unity and peace .DA will fix this country. I grew under apartheid. But those days r gone .lets just admit our people have failed us .time for plan B .lets keep on praying .
That’s too risky man. Increase arrests will scream racism(most criminals are black). Make no difference due to sabotage or police noncompliance and they’ll call them useless. It’s a lose lose because 5 years can’t rid the police force of all the corrupt and literally unqualified police.
The EFF and MK reminds me of the KP and HNP who thought they could stop the pocess by boikotting the negotiations, only to realise too late that they have sidelined themselves.
There is no way the DA can fix in 4 years what the ANC has destroyed in 30 years! They need more time! People need to be patient, unfortunately. Buts its a step in the right direction. A party that actually represents the people of this country.
Yet, you expected the ANC to fix in 30 years what racist institutionalization did in hundreds of years, as well as what apartheid ruined in 48 years. You're making excuses for the DA already??
Destroyed in 30 years? Can we please stop pretending that this country was fully functioning 30 years ago. It's a racist notion because the only people this country worked for 30 years ago, were whites.
@@lalaNbaptiste 😂No excuses, reality check! I can go into the details of WHY... But you can just look at available data on the current state of our country. Things to look at: GDP, Private business sector, Employment, Trade (export), Crime (murder rate!), Education (Gov basic education, is one of the worst performing in the world, with regards to our GDP and annual budget) etc... Fact is we have given the ANC 30 years.
This is definitely not a miracle. Unless something that was planned and announced in 2019 is called a miracle. A miracle would be Cyril and the EFF & MK. That would be a miracle. The DA is the only party that wants Cyril as president. There's no way he would go with EFF or MK.
You need more than the ANC flag over the Ministry of Justice and Correctional Services to keep a MP out of prison with so many watching. If this GNU really works, SA may just have turned the tide and those guilty of corruption may just be swept with it.
@@arthurgotz5677 if that was the case we'd be overcrowding our jails (state capture, Marikana, Phala phala, tender fraud, corruption daily since democracy) how they're staying out of prison, can't all be too ill aka Zuma vibes
To be poor eat pap in freedom is ok..but be richer fake freedom not in CONTROL watched and eating insects and fake meat...NO ...be awake! Of the comrades.
They don't have any important ministries regarding finance. That trajectory won't change 😢 We're close to bankruptcy already with dept repayments being the biggest item on the national budget
@@yourfriendlyneighbourhoods8202 The issue is that as far as I understand, that's a supportive role to a minster, tasked with helping implementing the minister's strategy. So if the policy is bad, I don't really see how that will work other than minimizing damage
Markets are important, they drive the economy, which later feeds into the fiscus that disperses funds into ministries that looks after us to grow SA, decrease unemployment etc. So he's right 👍🏿
The ANC and the DA are essentially birds of a feather, they just don't realise it. With the right attitude from both sides, they should be able to co-govern well.
I suspect both parties secretly admire something (not everything)about the other, this is why there was always going to be a coalition involving them two.Ignore whatever u see on social media
@Marissa821 Yup its the constitution and the idea of a non racial society even though ANC doesn't adhere to the the stuff they say about non racialism with all their BEE nonsense, affirmative action etc. I guess they did need it to address issues of the past but it's at a point now where it's no longer valid in our society, we need it gone now to grow the private sector that will create more jobs especially for the poor and disadvantaged.
Nice job in sidelining the DA. Give them a few messy portfolio's and continue controlling those where it is easy to follow the age old ANC tactic of making things ungovernable and looting to the max.
DA got shafted in this. The average South African is not able to separate the two. ANC will sobotage then blame the failure on the DA. Half of these positions have little impact. Department of education? This is not something that can be turned in 5 years. No control of the police no control of the railways. Disaster
Agree. Our biggest headaches are Trade and Industry, Law and order and Energy. Getting Education is a good start, though - although it should have included Higher Education. DA got shafted. SA got shafted.
@@maseratifittipaldi exactly, department of environment? Come on, people are starving it’s only the uber wealthy who worry about the environment. Like you said the important departments are still held by the ANC. I had hope with Helen being at the head of the negotiations but she has come off second best with this.
These are great ministries as a start if they do well they will get better ones. Education and agriculture technology are great positions. Let the ANC fck up with policing again then the DA will takeover. Rome wasn't built in a day
@@SiyabongaSibiya-pj9gb I think you underestimate the urgency at play. We don’t have the time to turn some of these around. You can’t turn education around in 5 years. Turning a lot of the departments the DA has been given around will not make enough of an impact to the lives of everyday South Africans. They needed ministry of Police and the railways to make enough of a difference that the DA can get enough votes in 5 years. This is likely the only chance the DA will have and they have been given mediocre departments.
We pray that South Africa can come out of this deep hole and build a non racist country, free of crime, corruption and get rid of people that think of grabbing todays riches and forget the future of our country. Our youth deserve nothing less. God we pray for strength in our politicians to build a nation of inclusivity for all.
Do you think the DA can turn the cadres in these departments around? Never. Why do you think the ANC gave them to the DA. In a year they will look so bad. But well done. Nowhere in the world has a country undergone 2 such major political transitions with so little violence. The world needs to give the rainbow people credit!!
The ANC had these positions for 30 years and f*cked things up - so I think people need to manage their expectations with the DA. You cannot expect the DA to perform miracles in 6 months after having these positions.
@rkbrown83 no the ANC had a good governance during the time of Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki in office. Remember those Presidents did not take over a perfect country. A lot needed to be changed coming from the Apartheid Government. Anyway this is the chance for the DA to prove itself. Same attitude we had on Cyril Ramaphosa and we kept on excusing him that he won't take a year to turn things around he needs more time. We gave him more time and through his presidency we re experiencing a Government of Unity in South Africa which I think this country needs. May God bless South Africa.
"CREDITS"............ For WHAT?? For putting up an administration, which one can easily and with absolute guarantee can call or describe as: AN ACCIDENT WATING TO HAPPEN!!! Peter, SA is by far the MOST unequal country on planet earth. The WHITE MAN came, settled and took over ALL THE WEALTH and ALL THE LAND, thereby for centuries leaving the OVERALL BLACK MAJORITY(90%) in utter destitute and utter poverty. The IDEA that this issue can ONLY be fixed by so to speak 'more of the same', that is: letting the market grow and do it's work has really NO LEGS to stand on. I'll make it very easy for you: name me ONE country who has managed to overcome poverty by letting the markets do the talking. But AI can give you ample examples of the opposite: COLOMBIA: run by FIVE families; the DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: run by SEVEN families. PANAMA: run by EIGHT families. I could go on and one. Do your own due diligence and see for yourself the POVERTY RATE of these countries and THEN come back to convince ME that the road ahead for SA is a ANC-DA GNU!!
I wish they would have gotten that broe, coz ANC will continue with mess they are doing in Eskom, and loadshedding will taint image of both when it comes back.
Let's give credit where it's due. So far so good. 3 months straight without load shedding is an incredible feat you have to admit. Hold thumbs we're out of the woods
If the govt gets worse the DA will carry most of the blame. If the govt gets better they will receive most of the applause. Its their game to win/loss. Hope they do not get sabotaged bu the ANC.
The DA has failed on its own accord plenty of times - and continues to do so in vulnerable communities. Your conspiracies of an "ANC sabotage" reveal your hypocrisy and cowardice.
Ministries with little if any influence on a) economics and b) law and order ... the two most important crises facing the country. The ANC took away Trade and Industry from the DA to appease the Commies and socialists, hence our economic crisis will remain unsolved. And of course, the country will remain overwhelmed by crime. PR is not important mate, the resolving of our economic struggles and crime is of paramount importance.
@@cristetianow PA has sports and recreation. Honestly I wish they had gotten policing. Gayton, despite his history, seems very committed to fighting crime and illegal immigration
DA never said no EFF and MK , they just didn't want it to only be ANC EFF and MK, people voted for EFF and MK so they have a right so either Join GNU or watch SA being rebuilt while losing votes
Exactly what I was thinking!! I'm hoping ANC realizes that they need to make a positive impact as their next election might be even less than 40%. This might be the last 5years for ANC to be in a government. Let's get one thing clear I'm not against ANC, as a South African we all want positive change and I do hope all the parties are able to work together and help EVERYONE who is South African🇿🇦
It is going to take a long time to make big changes. Look at Tshwane metro, for instance. The ANC mismanaged the metro since 1994 and left it hancrupt, so now the DA is trying to build it up again. Also, a huge number of workers are still ANC supporters, and they sabotage the process from every corner.
Agree..appropriate ministries for DA actually, would've loved them to get health too. These are critical, and we need them to work for the greater public. Can't cock up more than ANC..surely?
30% pass rate. Condonement of maths in grade 7. Yes, if you need to pass grade 7 but fail maths, you need 1% and get condoned with 39%. I wonder how many people know this...back to basics with emphasis on reading and getting basic principles down before moving on to the next topic. You have a week to do plus and minus, then you need to move to multiply and divide to get through the curriculum all the while the kids dont even know what 5x4 is. Shave the curriculum, make PSW worth something. In stead of focusing on aids, teach the kids how taxes work and how to file it. Teach them how to run your household and what it costs so they can see what is waiting. Teach them the imoortance of working and then paying your way. Shave the admin of teachers. All those forms and lesson plans that have to be meticulously prepared for EACH lesson for EACH class for every single day. Equip schools with equipment to ahow experiments, work with their hands. The list goes on. Theres a lot more.
Credit to the ANC for agreeing to work with the sensible DA and not the radical extremely dangerous EFF or the MK. The Rand is strenghthening vs the dollar in approval.
The EFF and MK only radica in sense that they would radically give themselves lots of money and not care at all for putting our broken country back together
DA is also highly dangerous for black South African masses,DA support Israel Zionist racist regime which is slaughtering innocent children's and women in Palestine "Gaza".DA politics pushes whites Supremacist political agenda interest and whites monopoly capital inferior.
If they don't do their jobs they need to be replaced there are lots of people out there without jobs and willing to work hard . Lots of them at Home Affairs has attitudes and think when you go there you owe them .We pay for what we want and there salaries .
I hope all these parties remember Siya Kolisi speech at the Union Building before the victory tour started last year. About working together on political level etc. We need the GNU to work and the DA in particular will need to choose their words carefully and respectfully.
I'm not really a DA fan, but due to a lack of options. We had to give them a chance. I am both fearful and hopeful for the future of this country. I am hopeful that maybe DA might be able to help turn South africa around for the better. Fearful, that tension between races and social classes might escalate. The reason being, the fear mongering that has been pushed (both racially speaking and socio-economically) is so deeply ingrained that it's hard not to think of the worst possible outcomes.
@tauceti8060 yeah, but cape town still some 'ailments' that, if given the attention, wouldn't be so severe. However, one can argue that ANC had a hand in that. Let's remain hopeful. There's plenty to be done
@FoxInAhole The point is that the DA's service record in the WC shows where it's priority demographic lie.. Would be weird to think anything'll change nationally..
I doubt that she said that and I am sure she said at the moment ministries is not in discussion. How else are you to share governing if you do not share ministeries.
@thomasprogli3372 she actually did, not only on Carte Blanche but also on Face the Nation. She even said the cabinet is bloated and they want to trim it, then boom they want 12.
How do you want anyone to make change for the better in this country without becoming the minister? If Da got no minister spots and then nothing changed. You going to blame the DA or anc?
Too late, what does John steenhuisen and our new military leaders have in common? They’ve both been shuffled into positions they have no qualifications in.
Sounds to me like the DA got screwed in this deal! They basically threw all the scrap/left overs to the DA! Leaving them out of the important ones that could have made a REAL diffrence....Policing and Justice!
Lots of DA hopefuls in the comments 😂 Glad they got ‘PR’ ministries, as Dan put it. As a Tshwane resident, I’m eager to see how they perform on the national stage 🤪
Who will the DA blame this time , since the ANC is no longer ruling by themselves . I can tell that the DA won't do any better and people will finally see that they are just as incompetent as the ANC
When Steenhuisen said he wanted to be vice president, I was pissed off. Like come on, choose ministries that matter. VP does almost nothing except PR and would give DA almost no control. But this seems like a good deal
The only two ministries worth mentioning are basic education and agriculture. At least the DA can fix SA's agriculture and education, which had dropped to such a low that the outside world does not recognize SA's education. And perhaps will the SA farm attacks diminish. Perhaps a distant third ministry worth mentioning is the home affairs. Get rid of illegal immigrants without delay. But the DA should keep an eye on the continuous corruption which will not go quietly. Those who were corrupt should face justice.
PR Ministries? All ministries that work should be lauded. Why should it matter if they are driven DA, ANC or any other party? This is how low we have come that we should somehow reward a government or party for doing their elected mandates and somehow it seems you think the DA will do things between? It’s a refreshing perspective regardless but either which way, at this stage, we are living with toxic governance and a massive collective Stockholm syndrome
All I can say is, LET'S ALL LOOK FORWARD TO A BETTER SOUTH AFRIKA. Afterall, we are the best country in the world. Those that are well travelled would second my statement 🍻🤙🤟☝️🍻🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
I'm hoping they'll do better than the ANC and remember they can't just do miracles, it took 30yrs to mess things up and it will be unfair to expect instant change in 5yrs cos there's a whole lot of rot beneath that still needs to be sweeped clean and then realign things to order. So let's give them time
It's funny people talk about 30 years like the prior years where prosperous for all, this country was rotten way beyond the 30 years you mention. The responsibility of this government is better the lives of all beyond the effects of 30 years ago.
