A strong dog with a massive bone, standing firmly on the ground, with a long elongated muzzle, ears are long, soft, rounded at the ends. The back is muscular, strong, the chest is voluminous, deep, with a characteristic "keel" in front. The tail, thick and strong at the base, set low, usually carried slightly below the line of the back, when excited, sticks up like an antenna. The limbs are short, thick, with prominent muscles. The front legs are wider and larger than the hind legs. Moves freely, sweepingly.
