Our local grain facility in Muscatine Iowa has gone to an on line scheduling app, they dump about 400 loads a day. The way it works, you Log in, pick your time and show up +/- 20 minutes of your dump time. IT HAS BEEN AMAZING. No more than a 10 minute wait EVER. I encourage you to tell them about it. It is called “Full Slate”. It’s either that or just sit there for 4 hours every load…..help them fix the problem….. you’ll be a hero.

Covid might have been bad for some things but it helped speed up apps for scheduling pickups and drop offs. Surprised more grain dealers haven't gone the same way as yours with an app

Its no different than Logistics...only works if everyone actually makes their appointment time. We have app. deliveries often and still wait 2 hrs. Shippers and receivers have only gotten worse and could care less about are time!

I can see that working when hauling from a bin, but when hauling from the field it makes no difference if you wait at the field or the elevator for an open spot.

Found out a very handy thing when I had four wheel drive on combine that when I kicked it into drive mode in road gear it then had enough power to overcome the situations as your dad did coming up out of a ditch.

Thanks for another great video Brian. It was interesting. I can see with the color of the Gleaner it is hard to see at night. Hopefully no damage to the combine from the ditch. On the video you can see the combine drop down and then come back up in height. Imagine that was the ditch. Lucky on that one. Could have torn parts of the combine up I would think. Glad it was ok or look it over in the daylight to make sure is ok. Running a combine down a traffic road is hard. Taking grain to a elevator at harvest time is hard work. Lots of wait time. Oh boy. You all are hitting the corn hard. Go get em. Getting more and more in the bin. Great. About it I guess. Thanks for everything Brian. You all take care and be safe. Thanks. The Iowa Farm Boy. Steve.

It’s called camp Cargill for a reason. The Sidney plant just put in a brand new crush plant that was supposed to dump 60 trucks an hour. It spent half of October closed or dumping about five trucks an hour.

Great Video Brian, On farm storage and drying makes lots of sense, why not offer you land-owners a lease, monthly lease payment and no risk, it's got to be good for both! the cost in time wasting going to the elevator is just a pain in the arse, thanks for sharing

Glad your Dad and the Gleaner are ok. Moving machinery is a challenge day or night. We don't have on-farm storage owing to our size. Used to work on a farm with bins and a dryer. We'd take advantage of field-direct delivery premiums, but when the lines got ridiculous it was nice to store things at home to keep harvest moving.

If you think cargill is bad about dumping grain be glad your not hauling to their feed plants. I’m currently in the bunk of my peterbilt until tomorrow morning because they desided they’re done for the day and I’m not the first person in line and constantly run out of room for the product they order. We’ve lost drivers because of their policies and waiting and dropped a location of theirs for deliveries due to drivers loosing the ability to get the next load every time they go there

New Holland has displayed its CR11 combine at Agritechnica, Germany. Wonder how much further adjustments/ modifications the larger combine will need when they make production machines. b) Are any marker lights available for the Gleaner like trucks/ trailers c) What other recognised systems for allocation and record of grain yield from 'share cropped' fields are there? Rather than taking trucks to Cargill and waiting. Use a combination of the combine yield monitor, the grain cart weights and have an official calibrated truck weigh scale at the 'home bins? (and a sample or two sent to a lab)?

It's tough moving farm equipment anytime if the day, especially if you are anywhere near metropolitan areas. People who don't farm can be idiots, and think they are more important than farmers are. It's sad that farm animals are now in the National Zoo. We have gotten that far away from Ag. 😮😢 Great video!

Brian, it’s been over 30 years since I’ve run a combine but this last video that Chad Larson put out they were prepping of combine to be sold had just finished harvest and they run a special kit on both those two big machines that slows the rotor speed by 50% I never thought about it when I Because I just did the Settings that John Deere recommended what watching him talk about that and I’ve been watching his corn samples and it’s amazing how clean they are breakage corn cobs and I was just wondering if you slow that rotor down that slow does it really help with getting a cleaner sample, they run those kits on both those big machines I think both of our class nines or eight just food for thought

Since you farm on halves would it be possible to pay the land owner their 50% out of pocket based off what grain elevator would pay that day. Dock their loads same as the elevator would for moisture, damage, test weight, etc etc. This would prevent you from having to sit in line for 4hrs per load.
