Thank you for this! I was struggling with my recessed light install. Your concise instructions saved the day! I had to add a goof ring due to the previous light leaving an ugly ring. It looks great!

I was having trouble with the clips, but installed using the torsion spring set up like you suggested. So much easier! Thank you!

I just replaced a burned out led recessed light possibly a utilitech but not one that had the switch to adjust the color setting. I installed the light after matching the color to the other lights. Pushing the light into the can, I noticed the loght did not sit flush to the ceiling, the gap was about 1/4" all the way around. I then remembered what my electrician friend taught me: using the back side of my fingere I tapped on the trim a few times and the light moved upward until it was flush with the ceiling, no calk needed, just a few taps.

There are no c-clips in our recessed can, does that first method you showed work?
@daddoesvideos
@daddoesvideos 2 года назад
Don’t see why not. As long as you have the regular can, that first method should just work fine!

Looking for similar led lights to retrofit some recessed can lights, but the 2,700k is too bright. Any sold in the 1500-1800k range?
@daddoesvideos
@daddoesvideos Год назад
Hey there. I haven’t seen any, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any. You can always hook up the recessed lights to a dimmer to control the amount of light, though.

Excellent. Thank you for the feedback. I sometimes get a bit detailed on things and I’m curious if it’s helpful or not. So I’m glad you offered your opinion! Thanks for taking a chance to watch.

So, it’s okay to leave the socket housing in when you remove the springs? A similar video said the light won’t fit with the old housing.
@daddoesvideos
@daddoesvideos Год назад
Yup, it’s ok. There shouldn’t be an issue with putting the recessed lights in with the old housing. I mean, I don’t know everyone’s setup, but most everyone should be fine.

I have the same lights but no switch. They both say they are 2700-6500 adjustable. I’m stumped

Thanks for the helpful tips. The torsion springs didn't work for me. After a lot of trial and error, I had to move just 1 side of the originally installed tension brackets from 5" to 6". If both were at 5", the light was way too loose. If both were at 6" , the light would not fit inside the can.

What kind of screwdriver did you use to remove the screws and add spring arms ? I’m having trouble removing screws with a tiny screwdriver. Is there a special type
@daddoesvideos
@daddoesvideos 2 года назад
Hey there. It’s just a regular, Phillips-head screwdriver (not a flathead) that you’d use. The screws are pretty tiny, but maybe your screwdriver is too small?
@Robert-ui1dg
@Robert-ui1dg Год назад
I had the same problem they're super tight. You just gotta get a driver Phillips that fits good and then go for it bear down.

Great video. Do the extra torsion rods come with the light??
@daddoesvideos
@daddoesvideos 2 года назад
Hey thanks! The lights come with the tension brackets already installed. They also come with the tension springs, too. It’s at about 3:40 of the video where I talk about these options. Hope that’s the info you were looking for!

I bought these to replace the Halo bulbs in 5" cans. The cans measured 5" across barely and a gorilla would have a hard time compressing those clips to install them in these cans. Using the spring wires didn't work either because of the cans. I ended up removing all the hardware and gluing the lights to the ceiling. After I'm long gone, the next owner can have a good time replacing these lights.
@daddoesvideos
@daddoesvideos 3 года назад
Hah. That’s a new one. Haven’t heard of anyone glueing! Agree the clips aren’t the most conducive way to install. Springs are much easier to work with!

Any tips on removing these lights? Without damaging the ceiling drywall?
@daddoesvideos
@daddoesvideos 3 года назад
Hi there! They should just pull down without anything affecting the drywall. If they were installed using the brackets, just gently pull down until the light comes out. The tension from the brackets is what’s keeping the light in place. If they were installed using the springs, gently pull down, and then squeeze the springs together and carefully pull down. Then (either way they are installed) you’ll have to unscrew the light from the socket. Hope that helps!

We installed these but decided we want a lower setting in the light color. Any advice on removing them to switch the color temp? Thanks!
@daddoesvideos
@daddoesvideos 3 года назад
Hi. Depending on how you installed, just do the reverse. Either way, you are going to have to pull down on the bevel a bit and then remove as needed. The switch to adjust the color is on the back of the “bulb.” Hope that helps!

Hi. I have a Legrand Adorne Tru Universal dimmer. There’s a video of the installation on my channel! Thanks for watching.
@daddoesvideos
@daddoesvideos 3 года назад
Hey. Thanks for watching! Typically, yes, you have to make sure they are compatible. Look for a dimmer that’s universal if you can. That’s one of the benefits of the Tru Universal one I installed!
