As a disabled person (spina bifida and scoliosis) living in the uk I thank you for doing these tests. I spent 9 months in a coma 10 years ago and have never recovered fully. I am also jealous of those shopping carts. Ours attach to our chairs via a rigid hook and they are a nightmare going around a corner as they either jam the wheels or they disconnect.

I had ACL surgery 9 weeks ago, and watching Landon was like living through the first two weeks all over again (just that I also had a really bad reaction to the pain killers and therefore felt miserable because of having a fever and stomach aches for about a week). The annoying thing about ACL is, while after 2-4 weeks you are back to your normal day to day, it takes another few months to come back to your full normal self being able to do all the sports and movements you are used to.

I actually have a Muscular Atrophy/Dystrophy disease called CMT (Charcot Marie Tooth). I've had my first surgery (Calcaneal Osteopathy) and I have big screws in my heal and staples in my ankle. Being on crutches is so difficult, never mind when you have trouble balancing in the first place. I wish there was more research about CMT and they find a cure or at least to stop it progressing. xx

Wow props to Landon! I would’ve been the perfect candidate for this study lol… Twice in my life I’ve had knee injuries that were bad enough for crutches, and both times I went at least 90 days without moving my leg. It was very anxiety driven (I have EDS and joints dislocating is a huge trigger for my anxiety and PTSD, all fueling each other hahah) and it was a huge uphill battle to get my leg back, even just to 90° mobility. It’s definitely an unsettling feeling when you can visibly notice the muscle atrophy in your own leg 😅 Thankfully not all of my mannnny injuries needed crutches cause those armpit pains are no joke!! It makes the world a little less scary for me knowing that people like Landon do such important studies with genuine passion ❤️ I really do thank him and all others in the field! The world is lucky to have minds like you

I had to wear a knee cast from foot to ankle for 8 weeks and with crutches and then I had to go to work and prop my leg up and top at my computer because my sick time was up. It was hard to take a shower so we had to wrap a garbage bag around my cast and I was exhausted by the time I got out. Luckily we had a seat that was built into our shower. It was horrible.

I had an Achilles debridement & surgery on my heel bone done 10 years. I was in a boot about 8 weeks & was non-weight bearing for much of that time. You know that trip up the steps on Landon’s 1st trip up the steps into the house was a very good lesson. Trips like that can be so dangerous to someone really incapacitated, whether temporarily or permanently. It’s so easy to trip over something like a shoe, or a toy left in the wrong spot. You really have to think ahead when it comes to moving about, coming & going. Way to take one for the team, Landon. I did have considerable atrophy of my calf muscle. Despite PT in the regular post op period, then intense PT about 12 months post op due to continued pain & having no power in that foot, a a fair bit of that atrophy & loss of power was permanent. But, I was able to get all of my pain resolved, so I consider my surgery a success.
