One of the finest-produced albums of all time, and I’m not just limiting that to Hip-hop. I think the lyrical content HAD to be rather straightforward to smartly highlight the star of the show, which is Dre’s beats.
@@blissz4 I agree 100%. Those are my top 2 favorite albums of all time, in that order. #3 is a toss up between Xzibit's Restless album and The Game's The Documentary.
One thing to note is Eminem wrote a lot of Drew's verses. He's such a lyrical genius to be able to write for others and still capture their personality so well
The Watcher, track 1..Em wrote all the lyrics for Dre on that. Listen to it after knowing that and you can hear the Slim Shady type flows throughout it. I love fkn love song. I think Em is also on the chorus. Let me know..
I have so many memories with this album, I was rocking this secretly when I was a kid and then I found out my mom listened to rap (my dad hated rap) so we both jammed it in secret before he got home off work😂 A classic that will be listened too generations
I LOVE your dad's 1st response to the song What's The Difference, literally as soon as you put it on he was like: "Uh Oh, that sounds like an Eminem beat" - FACTS🤟🏾
Em is the only credited songwriter for the "The message", Warren G wrote a couole if Dre's verses on this album and he said he sat and watch Em write it and its his favourite song, great reaction guys
I just realized, I think the reason Eminem has that ad lib in Bang Bang is because he wrote Dre's verse in that track too. I never really paid attention before but those are his rhyme patterns, and when I looked it up he is listed as a writer. He wouldn't get a writing credit just for the "can we talk it out" snippet. Looking at all the credits, there's even more writing by Eminem than I noticed before this listen
@@BridgingTheGapYT Sorry, this is the equivalent of having me on your couch with a 20 year delayed "aha" moment. It's something I learned on this playthrough, I know it doesn't directly correlate to your reaction 😄
Yo, your Dads face when The Watcher dropped haha. Wholesome content. Too tight! It must be crazy for him to hear records being sampled. I can only imagine we’ll be doing the same ina few decades haha.
Just finished watching, great content, loads of people saying they wanna see the Eminem show but I can’t be the only one that would prefer to see the slim shady LP before that?!
I believe The Watcher was written by Eminem and Dre. I don't know why people say it was written by Nas. Credits on the song says it's Eminem and Dr. Dre, and you can really see the Em's type rhyme schemes in there. I could be wrong tho, but...
Also, another reason people said Dre fell off is because after The Chronic he did "Dr. Dre Presents: The Aftermath" a compilation album. It wasn't received as well. Didn't get much appraisal. And the reviews were ok at best. It was the first album under Aftermath, with various artists like before though. So he references this when saying people didn't fuck with him and thought he fell off.
@@BridgingTheGapYT Yeah, I didn't either for the longest time. It has some crazy beats though! Definitely a couple hits too. It's a shame it doesn't get more light.
The watcher is one of my favorite songs in this album. My dad had this on cassette. Good to see you and your dad listen to this together like my dad and I
Who would have thought that gangster rap classics could be so wholesome??? Fantastic channel, guys. I can’t wait to hear the reaction to “ain’t no fun” (if the homies can’t have none).
First rap album my dad actually gave me when it came out and introduced me to hip hop. Seeing you listen this with your father brings back crazy memories brother. Blessings 🙏
@@djdmac2417facts I’m still waiting for them to listen to Documentary + the follow up album Doctors Advocate, both of em classic west coast hip hop albums that definitely go under mosts radar especially doctors advocate
Man....this ridiculous pathetic always -having-to-mention Eminem is so freaking childish and boring. We know he's great....we get it.... Boy oh boy....the Stans.
Love watching you guys. After a couple of classics from the golden era, yall should do some albums from the most recent eras like To Pimp a butterfly (Kendrick) or 4 your eyez only (J. Cole)
Fun fact Forgot about Dre is wrote by Eminem but ems verse was meant for Snoop but when em done the reference for snoop Dre liked it so much he just let em do it
It's pretty awesome what you guys are doing. I'm revisiting some of my favorite albums with you guys. If we're keeping in the artists we've already listened, there's still some great stuff to listen: The Blueprint, Doggystyle, The Slim Shady LP and The Eminem Show, The Massacre... But you guys could also do some Nas, The Game, Outkast, Wayne, Ye... maybe some Luda. You dad has a great journey ahead. Happy new year and best wishes from Brazil.
Oh man I love watching your videos. The two of you remind me of myself and my own dad only in reverse. We used to listen to his jazz records and just like you are introducing your dad to hip hop, mine introduced me to Joe Sample, Dave Bruebeck, Thelonius Monk and John Coltrane. He passed away last year and I miss him. Thank ya'll for bringing back those great memories for me and please keep building your own. Can't wait for the next video. Blessings to you both!!!🙏🙏🙏
Big Up from France 🇨🇵 I love all your Dre's videos and even i don't understand every things u say i like the relationship between u and ur dad, makes me smile 😁 Big Up to your grandma's too ^^ #whatupgangsta
PLEASE do Method Man & Redman - Blackout album the first one.. It has classic tracks like Da rockwilder, Y.O.U, Cereal Killer etc.. There's a reason why Redman is your favorite rapper's favorite rapper. His lines just go over casual listeners' heads. Real hiphop heads will understand what im talking about.. Meth is one of the greatest flows ever, and Red is one of the greatest lyricists ever..
@@spiderjerusalem8691 my favorite album of all time changed in the last few years when I started studying music. I'd say my top 5 favorite albums of all time are: 1. S&M- Metallica (I grew up only listening to rap so to have a non-rap album at the top for me speaks a lot to the quality of the music and production) 2. 2001- Dr. Dre 3. Relapse- Eminem 4. PRhyme- PRhyme 5. Madvillany- Madvillain I've never tried to list my top 5 albums before, but I think that's pretty solidly what I believe to be my top 5. What's yours?
@@thequinlanshow3326 for me gotta be 1-Eminem Marshall Mathers Lp 2-Dr.Dre the Chronic 3-50 cent get rich or die tryin 4-Avenged Sevenfold City of evil 5-MF DOOM OPERATION:DOOMSDAY
Loved this album and loved the honest reaction and commentary. Breath of fresh air to find reactors with no gimmicks, just pure reaction and info. Great vid!
Hamburg, Germany. I got that album when it was released. It traveled with me to Columbus, Ohio over Xmas and New Year 1999/2000 to visit some friends. We’ve listen to it so often. DMX, Biggie and Missy Elliot were also in heavy rotation. My friend’s mother and aunt on a road trip to Florida love these album too😈
Just wanna say thank you for making these! I am currently going through a super rough time here in Texas and have been working harder than I ever have before- lots of nights staying up until 3am working. Listening to these videos is a great distraction and helps me get through.
I love the whole concept of this channel. A father and son crossing generations musically, sitting down together chillin and really taking the time to listen to classic hip hop albums. Wholesome and genuine content. Respect.
Fellas, I've enjoyed every minute of this!! Many blessings to you. When this came out my brother and I would drive around Johannesburg in South Africa bumping this album as loud as we could. With nowhere to go or to be, we were just cruising the our city listening to the best tunes!! 💥🇿🇦
Ayyy man... love what u guys got going on here. A father and a son having something for themselves that bonds them. A lot of people don't gave that to build a real relationship with their pops. Love it man. An ur dad is golden bro. So cool. #blessingsfromgermany
@@Yousef.Al-Jazi auf jeden Fall, 90er und Anfang 2000er war die beste Zeit im Rapgame. Deutschrap hör ich nur sehr wenig. Was sind deine Favoriten an Amirap?
Such a great channel. Bringing up albums from my youth that I would never dream of letting my dad catch me listening to when I was 14. Now I feel like meeting up and putting them on.
Really loving the video's. Have watched all of them through and just want to remind you to keep going. We around the same age aswell, so good to share the classics with pops. Netherlands represent!
I loved your reactions, I don't know if my previous comment was influential but thank you for uploading the video, it was amazing. Blessings to your dad, you and your family, a hug bro ✌🏻.
Awesome man! Commenting before I even start watching, you gotta follow this up with doggystyle or some NWA just to stay on that west coast vibe, would be dope to see what your dad thinks of some NWA now that I mention it, purely because of how controversial they were for their time, love to you guys💙
Please keep making these videos with your pops, they are very enjoyable! I dig your chemistry together, and it reminds me a lot of the conversations me and my pops had while listening to albums.
