My dad was an amazing father growing up. He always made us feel safe and loved and we wanted to win his approval not because we feared him but because he worked his butt off to protect and provide for us. He was a very senior officer for the fire service and lead his men in saving many lives. He is 80 now and had surgery after very early onset lung cancer was diagnosed. I was so worried but he kept saying, no point worrying mate it will be what it will be. I prayed for his welfare and I told him how much I loved him, his reply being thanks mate🤣my dad was never one for saying too much to do with emotional feelings but was there to put his arms around me when I really hit rock bottom. Being the man he is he did almost exactly what his doctors ordered. He was supposed to not be able to walk for a week after surgery but two hours after he came to he was walking to the toilet. His doctors and nurses couldn't believe it but he simply said , I need a leak. I'll be back in a minute, while still agreeing to be accompanied by a nurse. A few days later he was walking up and down the corridors . The specialists surgeons and all the staff were amazed at how resilient he is but always polite and friendly. One nurse was shocked he was 80 as he looks like he's about 65. I was so grateful to his doctor who wanted a full body scan to look for his arthritis issues and found the small operable tumour and since it's removal he's been given a clear bill of health. He's back to walking up his street in the mountains and looking after his property. I think it's a relatively active lifestyle and a great attitude towards life that keeps him young. He's an amazing dad
It really isn't just a car, it's a time capsule of recorded memories. That car knew who it's rightful owner was, so it was only a matter of time for it to return to the one person it knew would truly appreciate it. Congratulations sir, she came back to you.
What are you talking about? The car knew it's rightful owner? It's a car. Are you one of those people who will thank our gracious and benevolent Lord and savior for saving somebody's life after the result of a life-saving surgery? Why do people have to believe in this magic? Fuck the man's children and the five years of effort they spent, I guess.
Coming from the guy who can't reference conversation properly... Here's a revised version of your comment so you know for the next time. (Yeah, cars clearly mean more to you than typing English properly.) Oh and one more thing, the fact that he enjoys cars and has a sentimental attachment to them has no effect on whether or not he can type properly. So your comment is irrelevant.
wow what the fuck. who pissed in your Cheerios! go fuck yourself , trying to correct people you dumb fuck get out the house more often you fucking chump
+derek d Respect them, love them, honor them.... I promise it will mean more to them than material goods. You sound like a fine young man. I'm sure your parents are proud of you.
This brought tears pouring down my face..... These two sons are the most wonderful men and they had a equally wonderful father. There is still love out there folks. Great job guys.....
I lost my dad last June, at only 67 years old. I actually got him (back) into cars when I was 13 or so, he helped me buy my first car at 15 and always supported my passion and dreams of racing. Thanks to his encouragement I've raced at multiple tracks and met so many great people in the industry. I always wished I could have done something like this with his old Mercury Comet. Thanks Dad! Great to see; remember to spend time with those you love and remind them just how much you care.
"It's not just a car, it's all the memories and the feelings, it brings that back" That line really hit me hard also as a genuine car enthusiasts. You know, the reason why I got into cars is because of my dad's 1998 Honda Civic EK Hatchback. There's nothing much crazy mods on that thing, just your basic d16 with decent exhaust system, lowered springs. Heck it's not even that fast and nothing much special for most people but for me, it means a lot to me. I don't know the exact reason why I love such a car that is basically your "economy car" but I'd say that I truly enjoy the feeling of riding that, the loud yet decent sound of it, the connectivity that I've had with that machine that makes me calm down especially when I was like 4 - 5 yrs old. That thing really brings me a genuine smile on my face. That's also the reason why whenever I see an EK Hatch whether it's a Type R or not, it's more than enough to make me happy. But yeah, sadly, he sold his EK Hatch due to financial reasons and stuff and I wish that I could be able to buy it back or get one myself someday when I'm able to get a license. Again, that thing has no anything quirks and features like the Supra, GTRs, RX7, NSX, 911s, it's just basically your economy car and it wasn't even fast in the first place, but that thing would definitely have a special place in my heart!!! Sure that there's more better cars than Civics and don't get me wrong, I do genuinely love them but this one, there's something with that machine that makes me feel connected and it really makes me calm and happy. It's nostalgic to be exact. If it wasn't because of that car, I would not be the same person that I am today, heck, maybe I'd be someone who has no clear path to go in life, no goals or dreams. And lastly, that car is the main connection between me and my dad even tho we don't bond the way we used to be anymore (there's a big story of that and I don't wanna talk about it for now). That thing also taught me the true essence of being a genuine car enthusiast and that is doing what you love not for people's attention or whatsoever but for passion. It's not always about hype, something to brag on, stats, numbers, specs or any crazy math or mad technologies there is but rather the connection between you and the machine. I'm totally grateful for it!!!

Had a B16 EG Hatchback when I was 16. That was my first car. Loved that thing. Sold it to go to college. Bought Integra Type R in my 30s now. As you said it’s not about the numbers but a connection. I’ll always love these cars no matter what other cars I’ve driven and can afford.
Love how everything comes full circle. Sold his baby to keep his other babies financially secure, and his babies came around and bought it back for him. The father's response was also moving too, he really missed his old chevy.
Thank you for not making your comment gender specific like so many losers on this comment section. I am a female and I legit had a panic attack when I had to sell my first car. I was freaking out the night before I sold it and was looking at how/where I can store it if I couldn't keep it on the street with no registration. It needed an expensive repair that made it much more practical for me to buy a new car than fix it. I ended up selling it for practically nothing. I have more money now. I hope I can get it back one day :((
We also gotta appreciate all the multiple owners that this car had that kept it in tip top shape and hadn't decided to change anything! Everyone involved in this story is amazing.
Simply priceless! My Dad passed away 7 yrs ago, and we just sold his GMC Suburban. I was so hard, but it went to a wonderful owner who is going to restore it! I’d give everything to have my Daddy back! ❤️
"Oh they changed the mufflers" I laughed so hard and cried at the same time. After that whole time and he still remembers the damn exhaust note?! Crazy!
That man with white hair...tearing up for a car, Is a Man, A Dad and a real super hero..... who gave up something for his family... and bravo to his son... who paid back what he gave up for them.. now he raises his head high.... proud to be a Father.. (btw) mom's are god....
+ibeg0ht He sold his dream car for basic needs for his family (as well as himself)... that is indeed a selfless act, and in a way, a hero to his family members.
Just seeing his eyes light up right before he was playing with his grandkids and him saying he's going to have a heart attack out of pure shock of joy just made me so happy. God Bless this man
That his son understood, even from a young age, what that sacrifice meant. And for him to carry that memory into adulthood, and then to go to the lengths to acquire that same car---the man must have been one hell of a father to inspire that much love from his son. It speaks to the man that he was and the man that he raised.
That was inspiring for me to read. As a father of two sons, I sacrificed as much as I could so they could have a better life growing up than I did. They are in their 30's now, but the sacrifice apples fell far from the tree. Unfortunately for me. Thanks for your comment.
@@eddielavene4190 Never lose hope sir and try your hardest to do the right thing. All your efforts will be rewarded and your best wishes come true, God willing 🙏
As soon as he started it "oh they changed the mufflers". After all those years he knew something was different immediately, that showed how much he loved that car. Good job selling it to take care of your family and great job raising boys that appreciated your efforts enough to get it back to you.
I have a similar story, though it's probably nowhere near as big as a son finding a beloved car for his dad: My dad once told me a story of how when he was a boy, he would go to the corner store and buy Philadelphia Phillies baseball cards for five cents apiece, until he had the entire 1964 team. He kept these cards in a rubber band in his back pocket, and would take them wherever he went. One day, he and his father went to the movies, and during the course of the movie, the cards must have fallen out of his pocket. They went back to the theater, but the cards were gone. About two years ago, I went online and found a pack of original 1964 Phillies team baseball cards for sale at a reasonable price, buying them and waiting until his birthday to give them to him. When he opened the box and took out the cards, he started crying.
+kevin rock If that's what you believe, then that's fine, but, having lived with him, I tend to believe differently. My dad very rarely makes profound displays of emotion, but a gesture as meaningful as replacing something one lost five decades ago should very likely move them to tears.
To value the heart of what a father is supposed to do and the father actually does it by honoring him with a return gift he had gave up is deep heartfelt love showed!!!
It's a very sweet story, but I can't help but think how epic it would have been if the Dad had said, "Why the hell did ya buy that piece of shit? I got rid of it years ago!!"
Lost count of how many times I’ve watched this beautiful video. Why? It’s full of love, of decency, qualities sometimes seemingly in short supply, these days.
My dad 56 Chevy Nomad sat broken in our back yard for 25 years because he never had the money to rebuild the engine raising 5 of us kids, my brother took the car and bought it back to life and gave my dad the ride in the car and had a smile 50 miles wide and was so so happy, today my brother still has the car and will never leave our family, this so heartwarming thank you for sharing.
49. Wow. That's great! Three cheers to both of you. Yeah my wife never "uses" that against me. However think southern bell. Velvet covered hammer. "Honey do you remember..." Lol. In these days of text & emails I'm catching up to her. I think.....
Agreed. As a real father you do WHATEVER you can to make sure your family is taken care of. I love this. He must have been a really good father and looks like grandfather
It'd be one thing to find the same "kind" of car from that year and what not, but the fact that they found the EXACT SAME car that their dad bought and owned for 20 years, that's a true miracle.
@@RennieAsh Unless the car is junked the vin will still be in someone's system somewhere in North America! The internet will maximize the likelihood of success! 👍
I watch all manner of tear-jerking RU-vid "feel good" stories but this is the tear-jerkingest one of all! What a wonderful thing this family did for their beloved Dad. Kudos to you all and I hope Dad is still driving that Chevy 10 years after being reunited with it.
My dad has a 1984 Chevrolet Corvette and he loves it.it is like a drag racing car because of the parts he installed and the color is awsome, midnight blue
These are the moments we live for. A good, hard-working family man who raised his boys to be good men resulting in a natural appreciation of his sacrifices - for which he asked nothing in return - yielding love and respect and a desire to do something amazing for him. I hope to be able to raise my boys in a way that would likewise result in an indestructible bond.
Absolutely beautiful. To see someone crying over a 'car' doesn't begin to describe how amazing that must have been for him and his whole family. I hope they are still on the road together.
What a wonderful story, it had me in tears, which at 63 usually only happens when the grand kids do something cute or innocent. You were so lucky to find the car in such good condition.
This man has to be an incredible dad. When a son spends 5 years trying to find it, and it’s the exact one. I commend everyone, this is a great family . Tim Randolph-California
Lovely story. Probably one of the hardest decisions, but an obvious decision at the time for his family. All those years the car was gone I'm sure he felt the loss, but he didn't regret his decision. In 2003 my wife and I had just both had surgery. We were struggling to pay the hospital bills. I actually started selling stuff on ebay to get us through each week. We were at the point of selling a dining room set with buffet that had belonged to my grandmother. I was ready to run the ad. My wife told me to hold off. Even though we hadn't told people of our financial situation, my mom ended up giving us enough to get through it. If we had sold the furniture I know there would be a hole left of my grandmother's memory. So glad he got the car back, the exact same car. That is a cool story.
must be one hell of a surprise considering the dad had a Mic on his chest before the video... you can hear when he hits his chest... "Hey Dad, let me just mic you up for fun so we can make a nice home video" yeah ok
My father used to play in bar bands, and he had an electric guitar that he had since before I was born... and I'm in my 60's. One day I visited him and I noticed the guitar was gone. He said he had to sell a few things to pay his property taxes. He had taken it down to a local guitar shop, and they totally ripped him off. I marched down there and bought it back. I gave it to him for his birthday, with a note that said... this guitar lives here. And as of today... it still does. These things are important.

As a son who had his dad as his best friend I know every emotion the father couldn't hide as he first saw the car. As dumb as it seems cars are so much more than cars to some of us. The connections my dad and I had through cars runs deep. RIP Dad, see you on the the side.
I wish people would be more grateful of their dads, mine died when I was 3 in a corvette, He died having a hell of a blast, so it's not really something I find sad.
@@GameChanger597 No one thinks back fondly on that chunk of shit that broke down every week on the way to highschool......Actually I take that back I miss my 72 dodge dart :.(
It's not about the car, it's about caring son, it's so nice to see how much he tried just to bring a smile and joy to his dad, this young man is a gentleman
The only thing my dad wanted growing up, was to be a dad. He had 5 of us. His own dad left him and his mom when he was only 2. My dad loves old cars, as I do too, but he didn't have a particular one he loved. My mom took all of us away when we were kids and it devastated my dad. He finally has a relationship with 4 of us again. I love my dad so much, and it tears me up thinking about all the pain and loss he has gone through. For father's day, I could have bought him anything, but it was the words in my card which brought him to tears. I don't think I can buy anything for my dad, that can tell him enough just how special he is to me. I wish I could take all the pain from my dad's heart, so he can be completely happy. I love him very much. This story brought me joy because the dad's boys loved him so much and knew what that car meant to their dad. I think that's absolutely wonderful.
A son lucky enough to have such a great Father. A father blessed with such a wonderful son. Touched my heart. Enjoy your beautiful classic 1964 SS 396 Impala!
My father wasn't a good man. Watching this video and seeing the family love was so touching. You all are lucky to have each other. And to the two sons who love their dad so much that you'd go to the ends of the Earth to do something for him, you're amazing!
@@DAVIDE-bk8by - My parents were both horrible people. Really disgusting. Fortunately I had a grandmother who was a saint until she died when I was 12. I'm 68 now and still miss her and think of her everyday (someone had to be pretty special to be that remembered 1/2 century after their death). Not sure where my mother came from. Her mother was the finest person I've ever known. Some of your relatives you never miss and others you never stop missing.
I didn’t think I’d get emotional at all about this, but I did a little. A very precious moment for the family that they’ll share for the rest of their lives..., including the beautiful car filled with good memories.
My folks, when they got married in 1947, had a '39 Dodge as their first car. My dad over the years opined that he would love to find a '39 Dodge and fix it up to near new condition. You know, rebuild the engine, tranny, suspension, redo the interior, repaint it, all the usual. Then, he wanted to find a high cliff and push it off. He absolutely HATED that car.
This made me cry twice. I saw the one with the dad and his son fulfilling his promise. For his one the son had to by the car from Canada. That's harder to do but all in all both of them were very heart warming and very touching videos and I would do the same for my dad, although I am just 13.
The most surprising part of the story is that the car stayed in such nice shape over all these years. All those subsequent owners even kept the original Protect-O-Plate! That was something that nobody paid attention to when he sold the car in the 1980's, so for it to still be with the car is pretty cool.
This story absolutely breaks my heart cuz .. my father had a Blue Chevy Impala Ss that he showed at Car shows but when he was killed at work in Aug 2,000 his " Wife" kept the car from us and sold it and this brought back so many memories for me, im so glad that u was able to find your dads car after all those years, im 41 now and i been looking for so many years here in Ohio but to no avail.... god bless you all
I CRYED WATCHING THIS (FIRST TIME IN A LONG TIME) MY DAD HAD A RED 1967 WAGON HE WOULD TALK ABOUT HOW PERFECT THE 327 ENGINE WAS I WAS EMBARRASSED DRIVING IN IT IN THE 80's I WOULD GIVE ANYTHING TO GET IT BACK MY DAD PASSED AWAY ACOUPLE YEARS AGO I THINK ABOUT HIM EVRRYDAY
307/327 small blocks. Best engines ever! The one I had would get an oil change, and the oil I drained would be just as clean as the new oil. 1970 C10 pickup.
I had a 1992 and 2000 Cadillac Eldorado ETC. The 1992 I had to sell. The 2000 was unfortunately was totaled Feb. 18 of this year. I was absolutely heart broken. I have mourned the loss of these 2 cars more than the loss of the love of my life. You guys ain't the only ones to get attached to your rides. Glad your Dad got his car back. It brought tears to my eyes!! ENJOY, SIR AND GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR WHOLE FAMILY!!!❤❤❤💥💥💥💥
