@redtailray You probably found this by now but for anyone else-the default setting for the screen to black out to sleep is set to 5 seconds (he mentions how it’s super fast in the video) If you scroll down (top to bottom) on the Home Screen it brings up a few more options-airplane mode, sound on/off, another button to change the Home Screen background, and a settings gear. The settings gear has a full menu for sounds, display, dry the watch, a watch guide, and about the watch. You can change the screen time out and brightness under display. I also really enjoyed the watch guide. It walks you through exactly how to use the watch and was good to do with my kids so we all knew how to operate it.
if you don’t mind me asking how was your experience with the watch? My grandkids have been homeschooled since 2020 and are going back to traditional score in the fall. I was thinking about getting this for them they are 7 & 8 years old.
@@Bigcat624 we love them! We have them for six year old twins and we have them wear them basically anytime we leave the house. We have season passes for our amusement park here and it gives us such peace of mind! They love it too because we let them walk down to our apartment complex’s playground and go play with just them. Their school doesn’t allow wearing of smart watches of any kind during class hours so they’ve taken them for the bus drive a couple of times but not often. Definitely a much better fit for us than an apple watch etc
Thanks for your review. May I ask 2 questions? 1. How is the battery life? Will it last the whole day with GPS continuously on? 2. Does it have any kind of reminder/alarm? My kid is almost 5, he always forget to drink water and bathroom. I want to set a reminder for every 2 hours to remind him (with an the emoji toilet/water since he can't read now). As far as I've tried, none of the smart watch or tracker for kids can do that.
Watch point- the battery last all day even with location settings set to sync every 15min. And 2- you can set tasks that act as alarms that you can remind him to drink his water yes.
Battery life is great on this. Especially since you can put it on school mode. Meaning games and music will be off as well as tracking unless they leave the school grounds then you will immediately get a notification. I tested it so many ways its great. I also have the sync up tracker from last year but this is so accurate with GPS. Phone call is great also text. They can make a video instead of a text and send you it samething with voice memos. Right now in tmobile it's free if you have an account just pay the $10 a month for the number because this has its own number and internet service!!
Just found your review because we were thinking of getting one for our kid. Any luck with the 6 month review? Is it someone that you guys keep using or thrown aside after a month? I would love to know.
A Williams- If you read through these comments you'll find for the most part we do really enjoy it. It has some things that'll hopefully be changed in future updates but overall 9/10⭐
@@REDTAILRAY Thank you for the update. At that moment, I didnt have the time to go looking through the comments. I have now and I see what you mean. I am glad it was something that has been useful and not something that gets thrown into the drawer after a month because it was forgotten about. I had only asked because at the end, you said you might do an update video so I had looked there first.
How did your daughter like it? Did it work out well with school? My grand kids have been home schooled since 2020 and are going back to traditional school in September, and I’m thinking about this watch for them. They are 7 & 8 years old.
She likes it and is 7as well. Read through the other comments for some of my other replies on specifics but over all really good. We found school mode is essential as it turns off the notifications and everything but emergency calling so the teacher liked that. Still wish the gos was alot faster and more accurate and video calling should be standard as most youngins aren't great at spelling let alone texting.
Setting, about watch, click software version 8 times. Must have customer service put watch on correct plan. Some reason the stores cant get the correct plan for them.
@@tatianagonzalez6540 how TMobile works is any device that has cellular service gets a phone number assigned to it. When they activate the device they assign a plan to it. Plans like the various magenta plans for phones, plans for wearables, tablets and hotspots. My guess is this sync up watch has to be on the same plan as other wearable devices.
No. Went shopping for some and talked to a T-Mobile store, nothing T-Mobile brand yet. He said the screen itself is supposed to be scratch resistant. Also went to a zagg store and as of end of today they don’t have anything preset to this device or size.
Working on the recap. 1- location updates could be a lot quicker and more accurate. 2- gps location tracking could be better and longer than 15 minutes. 3- boundaries perimeters could be smaller than 300 meters. 4- watch band irritates my daughter skin sometimes so more aftermarket options sooner would have been nice. 5- Video chatting should have been built in, as far as I know, it's still not available.
I’ve read that the watch doesn’t work well with iPhones. Any iPhone parents that can confirm if your child receives calls and txts from iPhones w/o issues?
It's ok. I wish it had more features like video calling and the location tracking was better. Seem to get logged out of the app about once a month so that's a bummer. But over all pretty good. Nothing to compare it too so we're happy.
Hello, do you guys know if you can hear their surroundings? My sister is getting sort of online bully and sometimes they also say mean things to her at school, but if I don’t have more evidence I feel that her school won’t take serious actions.
Why would a kids watch not be water proof (water resistant ain't gonna cut it) and WHY is it so thick is this 1990, can't believe you thought it was going to be even bigger. That would be huge on an adult it's going to look like a box strapped to a kids wrist.
Vin.. if your service doesn't offer a kids phone/watch, you can check out Gabb Wireless. Their kids watches were 50% off, and it is a stand-alone cell service with options from no-contract at $16.99 /mo to 2yr contract at $9.99 /mo
Not the tub or pool. It says it’s Splash resistant and water resistant. I would guess it’s not meant to be directly under the water of the shower but maybe ok if their arm is out of the shower spray itself
I know this comment is old so you probably stopped looking, but as of March 2022 there is not. No. I talked to a T-Mobile store, nothing T-Mobile brand yet. He said the screen itself is supposed to be scratch resistant. Also went to a zagg store and right now they don’t have anything preset to this device or size.
Open your parental sync screen on your phone. Open the specific watch you'd like to set the boundary for. From the map, grab the slider on the bottom of the screen and pull up to access features including steps, tasks, school mode, alarms, boundaries and history. Select boudries. Press the plus symbol to add boundary. Enter the address or click and drag the map to your desired virtual boundary location. Add name. Save.
@@REDTAILRAY thank you for the reply. I didn’t realize that the last of commands slides over to reveal the ones that you can’t see. I appreciate the response.
As long as we let the teacher know they didn't have a problem with it There is a school mode you can put the watch in that only allows emergency calls and nothing else
Swipe down (top to bottom) on the Home Screen and then there’s a settings gear icon on the bottom right. Under that you can change sounds to be on or off, ringtones, vibrate only, sound only, or vibrate with sound.
My daughter sends videos all the time. It's a highlight of my day sometimes. The screen is really difficult to type with even as an adult as the keyboard is large and it slides back and forth.👍
Can both parents add the app to their phone without both having to pair the watch multiple times? Or can one parent (admin) add the other parent as a guardian? If the 2nd parent is added, can they just download the app and sign in without pairing?
@@edbrazile5271 yes the other parent that is just labeled as a guardian will not need to pair the Watch to their phone only one person can be the admin through the app
Do I have to share my login account to the other parent after sending the invite link or can he create his own account and still have access to track our child?
@@dadapierre7522 you do not have to share your login info, when you invite them a link will be generated for them to make their own account and still see what the admin sees but does not have the admin capabilities
