I play pipes and I did this once. My daughter was in high school at that time. She had been chronically oversleeping and missing the bus, and driving her to school every day was getting annoying. One morning, it was getting past the time when she could get up and still make the bus. I told her if she didn't get up, I was going to play my bagpipes until she did. She didn't believe me, and stayed in bed. I didn't pull out the entire pipes, just the chanter-- the part where my fingers make the notes, and a little bitty reed makes that HUGE sound. (For my fellow pipers, this was NOT my practice chanter, but the actual bagpipe chanter.) I started playing (admittedly, badly, because I was a beginner) from the next room, and she yelled at me to stop. I took a quick breath and yelled back that I would only stop when she was standing in front of me, then went back to playing. A few bars of music later, she was standing in front of me. It worked. From that point on, I only threatened to play the pipes in the morning again, as a last resort. I probably also woke up the neighbors when I did that. LOL
If they enjoy the pipes, they won't kick you out. If they don't, you might end up looking for a new place to live. Also: Why does it matter if your roommate sleeps in? Does it affect your ability to do basic daily activities? If he oversleeps ALL the time, he abdicates his right to complain about any noise you make.
Oh, that's bad for their hearing and unnecessary. My pipes woke my daughter from the next room. Let's be honest, they're loud enough that they could wake the dead from the next city.
My wife used to stay up late and then sleep in late. I once threatened to wake her up by playing Reveille on my cornet. She took the threat seriously so I didn't have to follow through.
I’m surprised my Dad never did this to my brothers. Hey…the Queen had a Piper wake her up from below her window, every morning, when she stayed at Balmoral…so you could say you treat your boys like Royalty 😂
It'll be crazy when they're off at college, decide to stay up all night because they've never had that freedom, and then fail all the classes that you're paying for. That'll be just wild.
